Ashrah is one of the most fun characters to play in my opinion. But she’s also one of the most annoying ones to face, because she’s save on like everything and that overhead gets me every single time
Yeah, unless you are paying very close attention the overhead is simply unreactable. You just have to block high the whole time until she throws out one of her string which are usually riddled with lows.
@@issacthekidand even if you block it, you have to keep blocking because she can special cancel it on block and start a combo
@@thedarkvessel869after the last patch its no longer special cancelable if its been up blocked and leaves you open to a whiff punish.

There’s one more thing you missed about Ashrah, those curse marks also change the qualities of some of her attack strings. F423, B22, and B31 will cause one of the curse marks to pop the opponent up to open new combo routes or created more distance from her. They’re niche but mostly overlooked.

Ashrah has been my main since the game came out. It's the first time I chose a character to main and have them be top tier haha. Mk11 I decided to main D'Vorah, and that was a struggle until a few buffs came in.
A couple other awesome things about her. When the opponent has curses on them, it changes some of her attack strings in light mode. B2,2 becomes special cancelable, B3,4 causes a pop-up and can be comboed with certain Kameos, and F4,2,3 causes a pop-up.

I’m currently learning Ashrah, she’s SO much fun. Her and either the Sub-Zero or Scorpion Kameo make her combo extension so much easier that it seems a bit broken at times (to me, at least) 😆

I've waited for her return for years and now she's finally here. She's so fun to play and her design (esp with hat on) really looks amazing!
Ashrah was someone i was waiting on since i heard it in the beginning! She has been my main every since! They did so much good for her
Another thing with her light projectile worth noting is that due to its low recovery you can use it after the 21 crumple state and then use a move after to extend. I usually do F2 into enhanced light ascension then do the usual air combo ender (full combo would be 21->DB1->F2->*DF3->122->*BF2), it’s some rather beefy damage which can only get beefier with the right kameo.
There's a lore nugget I don't think enough people are talking about. The existence of Tarkat. Where did it come from and why does it exhibit the SPECIFIC symptoms of what made a Tarkatan what they were? Shang Tsung is shown manipulating them and using them to develop a serum but they don't mention him being the cause of it from what I remember. How is it that this, and many other things seem to be happening as if the timeline were trying to force itself back to how it used to be no matter what drastic changes Liu Kang tried to make?
He seemed to remove the Tarkatan race entirely, right? He even made Baraka a wealthy-ish merchant. But the plague, CALLED TARKAT, that basically turns people into Tarkatans only now under the added threat of inevitable death... happens anyway? And of course it hits poor Baraka and he STILL basically becomes their poster boy? They made him a good guy this time around... awesome! But at the sacrifice of his life? I just think it's wild I haven't heard people talking about this and theorizing.
Other stuff too like Shao eventually driving be Kahn again and all the little things like Dairou sorry Havik losing his face all sort of add up to some kind of cosmic continuity correction making sure that no matter what... this is how things are supposed to be.
Plus there's Mileena! Liu Kang changed her like crazy and she still gets infected with Tarkat. It's like the timeline is trying to right itself.
Love Ashra, her new design is sooooo much better and sleek. Im so haply they brought her back.
You should mention that while cursed, 3 of her strings are buffed when you switch back to light mode. you consume a charge of the curse for each string ender it's used on. B+22 launches and is cancellable into ascension; the b+12 (the down sword poke combo) which ends in a knockdown can instead be cancelled into ascension; and the bnb 3 hit combo F+432 also launches and you can do her overhead follow up or use ambush kameos.
Been using her since day 1. My only issue is now that people will see what she’s capable of and a bunch of players are gonna complain about nerfing her.. she’s a complete fighter and I love it
Ive spent hours labbing how to react to her moves but it just doesnt translate into kombat league, she's the only character i struggle to face. Imo shes better than johnny, kenshi and baraka combined; theyre all really easy to fight imo but ashrah is basically a free win character. There's a reason the baraka and johnny mains switched to her when they got nerfed.
Im currently learning ashrah , your so right. Since people barely play her she is so hard to fight against . Its unbelievable how slept on she is
@TheXtremist47 I see the same amount of ashrahs as Johnny's now and it hasn't gotten much easier for me but maybe I'll get it down lol. I just don't understand how being safe on everything is remotely fair.

Yea having an mid air mind game with many options that starts combos, a full screen confirm with sareena, a low mix up and a projectile launcher, while raiden is the one who is op when the only thing he had was dmg and now he has nothing. Dont tell me hes f34 is a mixup its the most reactable string in the game and it has a gap that u can literally attack through.

I'm currently learning Ashrah but I noticed one GLARING weakness she has compared to the other characters, almost all her strings and attacks have HUGE recovery frames, most 33+frames of recovery which is insane compared to most of the cast. I like poking with f2 and b3 to confirm with sareena but those moves will get you full-comboed if you whiff. I guess this makes her range fair, compared to chars like Johnny and Liu who have super short recovery frames, most low 20's. WIll keep testing to see if I like this playstyle more or not!
As an Ashrah main she does struggle with getting out of the corner without spending meter due to the recovery frames she's pretty susceptible to a D1 or D4. There's been alot of rounds where I've fought for my life to get out the corner 😂
She is my main super fun and I aso like her customs a lot.

Love Ashrah. Never really played MK until now. Mained her since day one. No regrets. So underestimated. I don’t know what you mean by aiming dark pillar. I know there’s a short and long version but can you choose which one you want?
The standard version goes far, and the close version requires you to hold back
Most people base her tier off of the fact that her mixups are “unreactable” but if you’re talking about tier lists we’re talking about at the highest level most of the time, offline you ain’t getting hit by that overhead but online it’s much harder to react. Her projectile and range is what makes her good, just understand you can interrupt her projectile, armour it, jump it, use sub Kameo to walk right through it, and all of her far ranged normals are highs with a lot of whiff recovery. Good players don’t have a problem with her that’s why she’s very rarely seen in the highest level of play. But honestly with how ass the net code is online in MK1 right now everyone’s shits unreactable
she has something better than the overhead to extend the 2 1 combo
her down forward 1 to forward 2 is way better and doesn't change sides
I feel like every character is good , depends on the player that uses them and how they use them. They all have advantages and disadvantages

People complain about Johnny cage, where Ashrah has the same things and has massive range, ridiculous damage, an un-reactable overhead that's also a 50/50. She's worse imo

@@thomasalbrieux don't forget the overhead can also be plus, and her armor takes 4 hits that gets her out of the corner for free. She's actually one of the most busted characters in the game
After 2,1 it's definitely better to go for projectile into foward 2 rather than the overhead. Some connections online might make this tricky, but it's more optimal than the overhead. Some time in practice mode might help make it easier if you can't get the timing down

shes real cool and the new skin made her look Ninja raiden alike xD , inputs are hard on pc with any controllers, i think i must use the keyboard... I have no issue in mk11 here or any other fighting games last 30 years..

He’s not that good. He makes rules on which characters people can use. No grabbing etc. he gets worked in ranked
