MK1 Raiden feels so damn good. I have never mained him before, but as a huge Killer Instinct fan, he feels like he would have fit in perfectly in that game. Like, damn. Man has combos for days.
How would making his damage more in line with other characters break him? Also he would do the same damage in the corner...... because he's in the corner
Or make it to where you need 2 bars for the 0 pushback. That way they actually have to decide if they want to extend that combo or not with the chance of having no breaker for awhile. Possibly make some of his strings more unsafe also
Btw the whirlwind air attack at 5:45 can link into electric grab (shocker) upon landing, which then opens a ton of other options. Pretty damn good move.
Didn’t think I would click with raiden based on gameplay I saw but he won me over in story mode. Felt good to play. Li Mei was another character who felt great for me in story mode both in character and gameplay so I hope you cover her soon as well. A lot of characters feel good in this game thankfully especially. Not being able to connect with anyone the same way is what often keeps me away from Capcom fighters
Shang tsung has sort of mix ups but they don’t special cancel his launcher being back 1,2 in young form. Or string into far fireball in old form but still involves getting a hit with zero over head and his damage is no where near as insane as raiden. Granted he could turn into the enemy but that also requires timing and practicing every character to know at least a fraction of their moves to be any kind of threat.
@@miks2421 yeah. I feel like if they at least gave every character some decent moves that juggle for combos and at least a mix up or two then no one would be complaining cuz everyone will be pretty even. Sure some would do more damage but at least you could still have more of a fair fight.
df2 special move can actually reach the opponent after that ground bounce air combo. Not that easy to time tho and It looks kinda goofy because you would never think that this move can still connect

Was playing smoke vs raiden yesterday. I did my forward 4 that does 4 hits, guy did his fatal and it armored trough the whole thing. 4 hits of armor at least. Thats busted especially that most cast has easily interuptable fatal. Raiden seems to work just like mk11 fatals were.
99% of the mortal kombat playerbase is not reacting to a 19f overhead. Reacting to a move that fast is reserved for top players who have been playing the game for a couple hundred hours and can recognize animations in the first 1-3 frames. The average human reaction time is 15-16 frames and that's if you are reacting to a light changing color. It is really hard to react to anything remotely near that fast in a fighting game.
It's the animation that makes it quicker than when it is. It's like comparing Subzeros B2 and Raidens B2 in mk11. Both were close to 19 frames and everyone got nightmares from Subzero's overhead while Raiden's was so reactable and vanilla.
Enhanced electromagnetic storm has hella push back on block to keep you safe after chip; also catches ppl not checking their toes all the time resulting in a full combo
True. I play with Raiden and as soon as my opponent messes up they start complaining that he sucks….well you shouldn’t have messed up and got punished 🤷🏾♂️
2 things you missed (im a raiden + jax main) 1. You can still special cancel the third hit of F224 for a full combo. And for fun, try this in the corner F224 DB2 2124 cancel 4th hit to DF2, then extend combo 2. Do EX DB3 and press 3 again to make the electromagnetic cloud travel. And yes it travels full screen.
I saw like 3 Raiden mains in a king of the hill at once before. One was so good at him that he won like 20 matches in a row. I'm convinced that he only lost because he wanted to.

It just feels like hes safe all the time. So like while he gets to punish characters there are very few windows to punish him. Im looking to see if there are any holes in the strings though to see if you can poke through any.
Although raiden has absurd damage out put, unless with a jax cameo, his strings are a little predictable. But also, lets hope if he does get nerfed he doesnt end up like subzero💀
The crazy thing is, you CAN combo off his overhead. I haven’t been able to pull it off, but ninjakilla did in his “LOOK WHO I FOUND ON RANKED” video that he posted. At 4:25 he did a combo from the overhead. No idea how.
I mean, look at him, then look at Sub-0. I still play Sub-0 because he's my favorite, and I don't think he's truly terrible like everyone else thinks he is, but it is still annoying that a lot of his specials are very unsave, his damage is WAAAY lower than Raiden's, and his over head is WORSE than Raiden's at 22 frames!

Funny thing is, Liu Kang has a 6 Frame Jab that leads to a full combo. So he can Punish a lot of stuff that others cant. So -7 in this Game is not entirely Safe :)
The fact this character can go in to strings then end it with the barrier is op has a projectile a teleport with he right assists (cyrax) he becomes a pressure character him cage and Barraka can be picked up and people will think they are good lol
If anyone gets nerfed post launch before baraka and cyrax, there will be serious problems in this game’s roster. Btw, raiden has real 50/50 potential with scorpion and cyrax.
F113 can be turned into F11FRB with scorpion or whatever you call the forward Kameo input. F434 can have scorpions forward input cancel into any point in the combo string and scorpion upward input will catch the enemy in the air if you finish the F434 string.Raiden’s B1 can turn into a full combo when using cryax’s spin but the timing is hard to get. I think I may have seen sonicfox use Raiden and cyrax and that’s when I learned about it.
The razzle dazzle move is really good at stuffing peoples attacks. After you end a block string, for example, it beats essentially everything. But not very useful overall. His teleport is super slow. He has zero mix and his openers are all pretty bad.
What i never understand is that people act like using all your resources for %50 is busted but SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE. Most characters need kameos but thats the game
Personally, I think the whole game needs to be pulled back a bit. The Avg. Damage compared to mk11 is much higher, and I preferred it when the match wasn't decided in two combos
He has big combos, but is not hard to play into. Just block low because his overhead is super slow and easy to react to. I have more trouble against wifi smoke cancel mixups
They should nerf his shocker a lot by just reducing its damage and severely increasing scaling but buff his EX lightning storm and EX teleports so he actually has some sort of combo diversity and us fun to play. I wouldn't mind if his damage was ridiculous if he was actually doing something interesting that requires high execution, but this character is completely brain-dead.
For me it’s Raiden’s poke and quick sweep moves recovery time. I had got spam poked and swept off my feet not able to react while stuck in a corner I was put in from them spamming the overhead kicks. I took over 50% damage before I was able to recover and was only able to fight my way out when they lost rhythm. Damage is high but keep it. Just adjust his recovery times by the smallest amount for an even trade?
The opening kick is a mid which flat loses to a low pinch and you have tons of time after it to either poke him or just stand before the second kick, which is the overhead. Raiden has zero mix. Just block low.

What blows my mind is a guy can say "I haven't actually used this character" then say "I'll go in practice for under an hour and determine if they are broken" that's beyond insane logic. These top tiers don't need Nerfs. In fact most characters have dirt and most of the cast can do this damage. I hope no nerfs are done for 6-11 months. Only nerf if it's obviously broken after the matchups are learned after several majors have passed. This is absolutely not the most damage in NRS games. MK9 and MKXL had 100% resets and very common 60-80% combos from HTBs with true looping cancel pressure. This game is more like the middle ground between X and 11. Has fun dirt but there are so many ways to counter it, most characters get over 40%. In 9/X only a select few got high damage and the middle to bottom tiers had zero dirt
I see the horizonal hitbox for shocker being toned down or what I think fixed, I don't think it was supposed to be able to do what it currently does in being able to hit standing opponents in front of him when they are clearly out of the hit area. I can see it keep a little horizonal hit range but it should really be toned down.
Raidens damage may be high but his string combos are mediocre and best and very easy to counter so his high damage output is what makes him balanced tbh
Yea funny enough I feel like I’m able to beat more raidens comapred to like smokes online. You have to be a good raiden to consistently open people up and get your damage off
Raiden got way better over time. I don’t think he was ever top tier, but he was decent and I climbed the ranks with him. He was definitely awful on launch in MK11

All I ask for Raiden is to have ONE GOOD WAKE UP… I wouldn’t call a 30 frame special move with 1 hit of armor be a good wake up when LITERALLY ANYTHING in this game can chew through it… DB2 is a good armor move cuz it’s quick and having one hit of armor would be reasonable, maybe in future patches they can remove armor from BF3 and give it to DB2
I’d much rather them buff the weaker characters and maybe tweak some kameos but nerfing characters wouldn’t fix the issues the kameos especially cyrax extent combos easily for over half the roster and the chip damage goes crazy

People find him overpowered because of his high combo damage and most of his comboing normals are safe. Also his forward 34 is an overhead and leads to a full combo

I don't think you were able to do the traveling one correctly for whatever reason but it's the same move Raiden does in the trailer with Sindel and General Shao, i think Raiden basically throws a wall of lightning at the opponent which seems really good. The game didn't let u pull it off for some reason but it's possible if you wanna revisit that move on a future video and it potential. I've seen a couple ppl do it but rarely and SonicFox did it in his most recent video if u wanna see how it worked
This is my first ever mortal kombat game. I’ve had it for less than 1 week, and I landed my first 49% combo with using one EX bar in practice. Pls don’t nerf him ! There’s 4 other characters that are just as good. They should buff more characters instead

Same with smoke, all his strings encourage you to use 3 bars on his smoke port since if you try string along his combos w vapor it drops

with enhanced tele you can extend it into a normal string or w/ your bread and butters are, its similiar to smoke, you can chain this twice btw.

I’d say he’s pretty OP ya, he kinda reminds me of pre patch Injustice 2 Aquaman. Easy high damage combos largely in part revolving around punishes.
You had to press X/A again for the EX storm to travel. It can be used as a launcher.

His chip damage is insane, his stupid flying Raiden move is safe unless your karacter has a move to punish it fast enough.

@@ReallyBigBadAndy76Double strike combo wasn’t the problem, I was at 90% and he was down to his fatal blow which I believe is 30%. I slipped and he caught me with double strikes twice, which put me in the corner. The problem was immediately after he had pushed me into the corner, he just spammed quick sweep and quick jab mix up, which had a rhythm that didn’t allow me to fight back until he messed up. What blows my mind is a guy can say "I haven't actually used this character" then say "I'll go in practice for under an hour and determine if they are broken" that's beyond insane logic.
These top tiers don't need Nerfs. In fact most characters have dirt and most of the cast can do this damage.
I hope no nerfs are done for 6-11 months. Only nerf if it's obviously broken after the matchups are learned after several majors have passed.
This is absolutely not the most damage in NRS games. MK9 and MKXL had 100% resets and very common 60-80% combos from HTBs with true looping cancel pressure. This game is more like the middle ground between X and 11. Has fun dirt but there are so many ways to counter it, most characters get over 40%.
In 9/X only a select few got high damage and the middle to bottom tiers had zero dirt
With raiden I mostly try to dominate the neutral, and pressure them into opening up with chip damage
I see the horizonal hitbox for shocker being toned down or what I think fixed, I don't think it was supposed to be able to do what it currently does in being able to hit standing opponents in front of him when they are clearly out of the hit area. I can see it keep a little horizonal hit range but it should really be toned down.
Raidens damage may be high but his string combos are mediocre and best and very easy to counter so his high damage output is what makes him balanced tbh
Yea funny enough I feel like I’m able to beat more raidens comapred to like smokes online. You have to be a good raiden to consistently open people up and get your damage off

Raiden got way better over time. I don’t think he was ever top tier, but he was decent and I climbed the ranks with him. He was definitely awful on launch in MK11

All I ask for Raiden is to have ONE GOOD WAKE UP… I wouldn’t call a 30 frame special move with 1 hit of armor be a good wake up when LITERALLY ANYTHING in this game can chew through it… DB2 is a good armor move cuz it’s quick and having one hit of armor would be reasonable, maybe in future patches they can remove armor from BF3 and give it to DB2

I’d much rather them buff the weaker characters and maybe tweak some kameos but nerfing characters wouldn’t fix the issues the kameos especially cyrax extent combos easily for over half the roster and the chip damage goes crazy

People find him overpowered because of his high combo damage and most of his comboing normals are safe. Also his forward 34 is an overhead and leads to a full combo

I don't think you were able to do the traveling one correctly for whatever reason but it's the same move Raiden does in the trailer with Sindel and General Shao, i think Raiden basically throws a wall of lightning at the opponent which seems really good. The game didn't let u pull it off for some reason but it's possible if you wanna revisit that move on a future video and it potential. I've seen a couple ppl do it but rarely and SonicFox did it in his most recent video if u wanna see how it worked
