[D2R] Buy items to sell - 39 Ber High Rune / 22k D2jsp Forum Gold Profit in 2 Hour Flip Trade

Midnight, March 4th 2022, Friday. 00:54am US Eastern Time. Mr Hawk (Alias) just finished a Baal run in a public room. He opened D2jsp, the largest D2R trading forum. A godly pair of greater talons!
Mr Hawk is one of the top D2jsp traders. At today's market price, it could easily go for 50k forum gold. The market price of one Ber rune is about 570 forum gold. So it was worth 88 Ber runes. No bold title, no red title for such a high end item. Mr Hawk found his prey!
00:55am US Eastern Time. Mr Hawk clicked the post. Witch-Hunter's Greater Talons of Quickness. It was socketed with 2 Shael runes, so its full stats are 2 Assassin Skills, 2 Sockets, 40% Increased Attack Speed, 2 Wake of Inferno and 3 Lightning Sentry.

This pair of Greater Talons was posted at 00:52am. Mr Hawk looked at his clocks on the wall and smiled.
It was 00:55am US Eastern Time and 06:55am Central European Time. Most D2jsp users were deep in sleep.
This post was posted only 3 minutes ago. For such a high end item, no experienced trader would start a post at midnight, when there are way less people around. Experienced traders usually start a post between 5pm to 10pm Eastern Time, to attract more buyers.
Mr Hawk took a look at the seller's profile. The seller, Mr M is a new member on D2jsp. He joined D2jsp only 5 months ago, in September 2021. Mr M had only 379 posts, and only 39 Forum Gold when the post was initiated.
It also seemed that Mr M does not know much about the claws. It was kind of a waste to socket 2 Shael runes. A great chance for a big profit!
Mr Hawk needed to figure out some numbers: target buying price and target reselling price. Mr Hawk worked out the numbers in reverse order.
First, a target reselling price to a final buyer. The market price for the claws was above 50k forum gold. With Patch 2.4 and Ladder coming, Mr Hawk tried not to be greedy. Mr Hawk set the target reselling price at 40k forum gold, which was about 80% of the market price.
Then a target buying price from the original seller, Mr M. There was only one chance for Mr Hawk to make an offer. He could have offered 5k or 10k forum gold, but if the seller hesitated, there was no way for Mr Hawk to make a second round of offer and finish the deal quickly.
Again, Mr Hawk tried not to be greedy. He made it 20k forum gold, which was half of his target reselling price.
00:59am US Eastern Time. Mr Hawk acted quickly. By no means should he post his offers publicly in the post. He sent a private message instead. Once the offer of 20k was sent, Mr Hawk just waited patiently and prayed there were no other decent offers.
01:12am US Eastern Time. Mr M posted the 20k offer in his post, trying to attract some attention. But it was one o'clock midnight. Not many people were active on the forum at that time.
01:27am US Eastern Time. Mr Hawk succeeded and finished the trade quickly.
01:29am US Eastern Time - 2 minutes after the trade was finished. Someone posted a 25k forum gold offer in the post. But too late!
02:06am US Eastern Time. Mr Hawk removed the 2 Shael runes socketed in the pair of claws, and posted a for sale post for this exact pair of claws.
02:49am US Eastern Time. This pair of claws was sold for 42k forum gold via private message, which has been confirmed by different sources including the final buyer who paid 42k forum gold.
In less than 2 hours, Mr Hawk made 22k forum gold by flipping. In other words, Mr Hawk made a 39 Ber rune profit.
Wait a second. Did Mr Hawk start a post at midnight and do the trade via private message? Did Mr Hawk make the same mistakes an experienced trader should avoid? Well, One man's meat is another man's poison. For Mr Hawk, Money Never Sleeps. He can do the trades any time, any way.
09:30am US Eastern Time. Mr Hawk took another look at the post. There were only 3 replies when he bought the pair of claws. Now there are 63 replies!
Mr Hawk smiled. Now time for some real flip trade!

Let's review the case. What can we learn from Mr Hawk?
(1) know the market price,
(2) know who you trade with,
(3) try not to be greedy,
(4) act quickly and wait patiently.
On the other hand, as a regular player, what do we do if we want to sell a valuable item?
(1) Choose the right time. The best time is 5pm-10pm EST. The second best time is 12pm-5pm EST
(2) Make bold and color titles.
(3) Post an image of the item in it's original form, unless the runes/jewels socketed are expensive.
(4) Don't trade via private message.
(5) Let the auction run for at least a few days

you offered me 5k-7k for the claws initially. remember? You wrote an said it was the end of ladder so they werent as valuable. I told you i wasnt gonna take less than 20k and if you wanted them for that better do it now or i was gonna goto sleep an wait for the better offers. then you said youd take it. yes. buy in game gold on games where people pay for the ingame gold, then sell the ingame gold. easy. you usually make around maybe 20 to 30% less than you would illegally selling the fg directly and setting up fake posts.

In jsp we not like greedy people. Most of us sell like 20%of what the original cost. If the user have low forum gold. We mostly sometimes give it for half of the price. So but mostly important is am never again take fgs for any level service of any kind. Not even Rush.
