      Likely these were lower ranked soldier groups as the most elite would be stationed on military vessels. These guys were in charge of an old mining asteroid converted into a prison. Hardly a glorifying type of position to be had in the Dominion empire. I'd imagine they were relatively lazy and not necessarily the brightest of their kind. From that perspective, it's easy to see they did what they did.

      Later in the series, Odo meets one of the hundred explorers (like himself) who was able to copy a space-borne creature. Changlings don't seem big on self sacrifice, so I lean towards it having an escape plan.
      Mind you, it's kind of hard out-running a supernova without a warp drive, and the shuttle exploded seconds after getting a tow-job, so this debate could be endless.

    Pretty sure this is the only time you see a dominion weapon vaporise someone. Later episodes show it as a savage weapon that burns a hole in you, and has added goodness in the form of an agent that prevents the blood in the wound from clotting.

      probably to conserve energy . also maybe they want to interrogate the enemy soldiers before they die

    • @Aquamentii
      @Aquamentii 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Although probably just an oversight, perhaps this explanation fits their brutal character: vaporizers are used in prisons to maintain control and put down any armed uprisings quickly, while bleeders are used during war to turn wounded soldiers into a liability for their opponents: still very likely to die but clogging triage centers, creating distractions, and drawing massive resources in the process.

    What's the problem with going to warp inside a solar system??

    • @orelas167
      @orelas167 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The usual warning in Star Wars media is that you run the risk of crashing into a planet or sun if you don't plot very carefully where you're going. Planets are in different parts of the solar system every season so it's nearly impossible to navigate around them as a snap judgment. Either that or it's very hard to warp short distances accurately so they risked overshooting and entering the sun. They were taking a blind Russian roulette.
