- Lima, Peru, is home to the 4th best restaurant in the entire world-- Central by world-renowned Peruvian chef, Virgilio Martinez. This Lima restaurant was featured in Season 3, Episode 6 of Netflix’s Chef’s Table, and thousands of people travel across the globe to dine at this very special restaurant. Virgilio's set menus feature a number of unique dishes that take you through the country of Peru, based off of altitude.
Out of pure luck and good timing, we got ourselves a table at Central with no reservation, and we got to experience a transcendent and life-changing meal on our final day in Lima. We feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to splurge (for once) on an experience we will surely remember forever, and we are so glad that we could share those fantastic 4 hours with you all. The best way to visit Lima, Peru, is by eating your way through it! :D 🇵🇪

Spending $315 at one of the best restaurants in the world is amazing. Last weekend, I spent $400 dining with my wife in downtown Seattle, and the restaurant wasn't even close to the experience you guys had.

Awesome. In one of my trips to Lima I was able to have dinner at Maido, another top restaurant but Central is still on my bucket list.

I love how much these chefs have empowered the peruvian cuisine in the recent years, if you went to a fine dinning restaurant here at Lima some 50 years ago you would only get served french food,italian or spanish. Nobody cared for the peruvian dishes and products. Even european chefs were wanted more than peruvians TV shows would feature them nowadays no one would want to have an european trying to teach us how to cook on TV.
This was lovely. Really glad you got to experience the finer things in life. Cant wait for your next video

I'm from Texas but have been in Peru for the past 5 years 7 months and have been wanting to try Central but have not had the opportunity. I've been wanting to try Maido restaurant in Miraflores also; walked past them today and they have either moved or closed down which I can imagine them closing because they have a wait list just like Central. Closed on a Sunday? Peru has over 600 types of potatoes btw.

Really enjoyed your experience. I just watched Agilio Martinez talking about the restaurant and what he is trying to achieve for the future of ingredients and catalogue every new finds in and around the jungle. Cooking is my passion and I am fortunate to be in the North of England where some of the best chefs built their reputation. Marco Pierre White made his name in Manchester before moving to London. Can I recommend a book by Anthony Bourdain called Apitite. I have quite a selection of books by famous chefs but this book takes you on a journey from prep to completion and leaves you feeling that Anthony had cooked it with you it's very special. Hope you continue to enjoy these experiences with food, the good thing is the pleasure you get from a simple meal done well. Best wishes and stay safe J.

glad that you guys enjoyed the dining experience for the price you thought was worth it. Everyone looks at "experience" differently. For me, I would love to just pop in a place with no preconception but come out of the place surprised by having a great time/great food and without paying more just to justify the heightened goodness endorsed by others. My kind of worthy experience would be the example of the little restaurant you guys happened to find with the old man serving you with good food with good price. I would enjoy the "experience" more in this little place without hypes

So what you ate in the Amazon connection dish is not a fish, it was Cecina that is a meat (usually from the cow) mainly eaten in the jungles of Peru (the Amazon area) ;)

Interested in your experience,--but honestly, I am 60 years old--and to be honest, I prefer to have a decent filling meal that costs in the mid-range (or even dirt cheap range)--I really don't wish to pay hundreds of dollars and get mini potatoes that are hollow, like potato chips, with a sauce...and get fish that gives me 2 or 3 bites (even though there are 11 courses)...the beverage pairings looked like the best part of the meal...I know that people pay lots of money to have a memorable experience--but people also pay a lot to go to Disneyworld--and I wouldn't pay what they pay to go there either...I just don't need that kind of experience...good luck and hope that this fulfills you...I think working with the poor is probably a more admirable way to spend your time (and your money)...why don''t you show us your 'real life"--what happens around you on a daily basis? when you are at home?...best regards, dts/usa

I often wonder those that eat out and who are impressed by a status of a name what was served in their home growing up. For me I was lucky to have a Mom and Grandmother who made awesome dishes at home to the point when I go out to eat the food at most restaurants is average to good when I compare to home cooking. I guess when your not use to good tasting food at home you have nothing to compare
