I miss Peru and the good energy you feel in cusco is something you can't describe you have to be there to understand it.... i went for a few weeks and stayed for 3 wonderful years
We did the same trip in 2016. In Ollantaytambo we stayed at the hotel that is right at the train station, which was convenient. You don't need a tour, we did everything ourselves with no problem. We paid less for a lot of things but that of course was 6 years earlier. For example, the taxi to Cisco was $65 then, the admission to MP was $24, the bus up the hill was $5. In Cusco, the elevation (12,000 ft) can affect some people; they recommended that we drink coca tea (similar to cocaine leaves) which did help.
We visited in 2012, arriving tired but satisfied on a very damp and misty morning after hiking and camping four nights on the Inca Trail. We returned the following day for a more leisurely exploration on a beautifully sunny day. Thank you for sharing your travel tips!
Dear Chad & Clair I am a Sri Lankan youtuber (in Sinhala language) who travelling to 100 nations with Sri Lanka passport which has no value to get visas to anywhere. Till now I have fulfilled almost 43 countries and planning towards South America. Thank you very much for very valuable information on your videos. Your videos are very useful to me to plan my future tours. I have subscribed you from my both channels.
chad nailed it. if you have the time save the money. the trips quoted most certainly are starting and ending in cusco. you did leave out the caveat of that your expenses began at the train station. the travel to ollantaytambo, hotel and , food to start from that point you still save money from a established tour. the trip to cusco at the end of the day if its not too late. take a collectivo from the main square. they are about 15 soles $3.50 per person . great video you both did a wonderful job in presenting it.
There are couple companies that will take you up there, just the main view without need to walk much is worth ... the view is amazing. Hope you can do the trip some day. Be well.
Hi Chad and Claire, i'm going to visit Peru for the first time on dec31. Planning to go to Machu picchu and was confused on the booking process but luckily i came across your vlogs! Thank you!
Hi. Just to let you know that there is a rain season between December and April in all the region (winter in mountains, it's cloudy, not cold (7 to 17 degrees)). The best time to go is in April, all is green, sunny, and no to much tourists 😊😊. Well, it's your option. A bientôt!!
Hi kids 😊. Very cool, thank you because I know I’ll never be going there. So thanks for the tour , y’all are great tour guides 😊. Looking forward to where your going next 😁, safe travels 🙏🌸
Was there in 1981. My friend and I climbed the big peak with 2 other tourists from Germany, but didn't make it back in time before they closed and locked the gates. It was dark by then and the 4 of us were the only ones on the grounds. We had to yell for awhile for someone to let us out. They had to get someone from down the hill to get the key. Very embarrassing. People were not happy. However, it was all quite beautiful at night. The moon was almost full. The walls of the ruins glowed in the moonlight.
I really enjoy your video style. Calm, thoughtful, fun, good vibes. One thing that would be useful is to tell us not only prices but time. How long did the hike down take you? How long was the car ride to Cusco? How did you find the driver to go there?
What a great video.....Well there is always a sudden feeling when we see some of your videos,It took my breath away!!!! It must be my extreme good luck to have got a chance to see such a beautiful video. Thanks once again guys!!!
@@ChadandClaire haha.... I am not sure what your plan is. But I would also suggest going to Titicaca lake, la Paz and Uyuni in Bolivia. Especially the salt flat in Uyuni. It is awesome. Have a great trip.
Loved this, the history the pictures of this place is amazing. I love the way you two share your experiences with us. Your thoughts, emotions things that happen or dont happen. It really feels like we're a part of it all. Keep them coming I love all your videos.
I get real good vibe from you guys really authentic and nice kiddos. Thanks for sharing the traveling info and giving such positive friendly energy/vibe the best of luck for u guys always.
You guys did really good regarding costs. My first time I did it like you, my second one we did a tour because I was with my husband & child and wanted for them to have the best experience of my country, they love it, specially my 4 year old who would chase the llamas, alpacas and any animal he would see 😂
I'm going mid March with a tour. Very excited, just nervous with traveling to and from the US during these times. Also doing an Amazon cruise. Thanks for a great video.
Travel can certainly make you nervous, but I think once you arrive you'll find it's not as scary as you once thought. We are going to the Amazon at the beginning of next month! Not doing a cruise though, but should help as you plan for your trip. Thanks for watching!
When you said buenas noches to the airbnb host in Cuzco, the subtitle ran as "what a snapchat" 😂 lol. What a great trip/hike!! Thanks for showing me another option as I'm planning my trip for next year. Enjoy and the rest of your trip and stay safe!!

I just discovered your channel and have been binge watching it. I came upon it because of your little van, which then lead me to Machu Picchu. I follow "Overlanding Sophia" and Chesca from that channel started a book club, Where The Wild Books Are. This month we are reading Turn Right At Machu Picchu by Mark Adams. Well, your current travels fit in quite nicely with our book read. I have been enjoying your Peru travels thus far and looking forward to seeing more. Sophia(the van) is currently traveling from England down through Europe and eventually to Azerbaijan. Ben and Chesca are also traveling with their dog River. And, I have just shared your video with the book club. Happy travels to all!
Yay! No death or injury!
