That’s what I was gonna say. They always show in the movies the hero using a saw of some kind, really wanted to know how it’s actually supposed to be done
Wait. The title is "Cutting an old shotgun the right way," but you cut the shotgun off-camera? The title should be "Sanding and bluing an old shotgun the right way."
Professional gunsmith here (35 years in the business). Not how you do a professional job. If you want to do it the "right" way, instead of using JB Weld to fill the space between the barrels, fit a mild steel filler and soft solder, in place. Also, you need to reinstall the front bead.
The few I’ve cut, I made sure they were 18 & 1/2”, or 19”. I actually tested the pattern spread with 7&1/2 shot and 00 shot. It didn’t seem to make any difference. But those lengths make sure you don’t get it too short. Some rulers seem to be short . . .. plus that gives me peace of mind. Just my humble opinion.
The customer's request was very reasonable and legitimate. I have an older Kassnar (by Zabala - Spain) 20ga SXS with 28"barrels (I bought way cheap). Looks exactly like the 'subject' firearm. I am considering cutting barrels to 18.5", re-installing the bead, and do a good job of filling the end gap. WHY? I'm looking for a 'travel gun.' Compact and legal all over, especially when I have family in upstate NY (where laws seem to change by the minute!) and Michigan (where who knows?) - but this is a Joe Biden suggestion for a home defense gun LOL! I am experienced doing these modifications and have several other quality 20ga shotguns - including an Ithaca SKB 100. Why not have a 'legal 18 1/2" package' (broken down) to travel with?
You need to keep the text on for longer, it comes and goes way too fast. I have had to go back and pause really quickly so I can read what the hell you were saying.
If the goal is a home defence weapon, cutting is a great idea. A 24 or more barrel is hard to maneuver in confined space of a hallway, and intruder will be less than 20 feet from you, so one shot will take care of threat.
Dang it, you skipped the two parts I was really pumped to see: the actual way you cut the barrel down and the installation of the bead....dang...

I show how to cut parts in another video on my channel. Take a look
I showed the cut down parts in another video of mine. Take a look
Pretty cool how you turned the barrels fill of metal shavings and abrasive back towards the firing pin and triggers... good work on that..

Lol I didn't thing of it that way. But you are right

Thank you for reaching out I knew jb weld was a cheap/ fast fix and I like the idea of mild steel and soft solder in place.

After reading this I panicked a little and checked it with another tape measure. We are safe it's 18 1/2 in. Interesting about the spread.
just don't use a ruler supplied by the atf!

Groovy
Dudnt show the cutting
In weld? Nah, silver solder the gaps…
What did u use to cut it?
A cut off wheel. Or a hacksaw will work.
@@rustyriflefanWhy not a grinder disc??

Thanks I will do that next video
Why you cut why ????
To saw it off😅 lol
Hmmm, misleading title, and crap music. Recipe for another channel to ignore.
Для чего Крис вы испортили хороший дробовик?
Joe would be proud , lol
Does anyone recognize make & model ? Chopping up a foreign job is one thing...classic American is another.
It's a Spanish made shotgun
क्या बैरल छोटा करने से इसकी मारक क्षमता कम नहीं हो जायेगा
IMHO, generally, no. Most shotshell powder burns within 18". In one test I read, the velocity loss between 18 1/2" and 26" was negligible.
Оторвать руки и собакам отдать..ты испортил ружьё

Magic??
Bet that thing kicks like a mule now
Nice job and no use to put a front sight back on.
This is an ATF entrapment.
BS!
Looks illegal.
Still Leal, anything over 18 1/2 inches is legal
Chimp

Why ruin a perfect shot gun
What's what the customer wanted
The customer can fuck himself.
You probably like polymer guns be quiet
Quite the opposite. I like making gun stocks and rebuilding old guns. Im not into plastic guns although I have 3 with plastic stocks. @ZachsCamClips
