Bhahhaha.....incidentally the first Christmas my ex wife and I were together she bought me a darned calendar....I gave her so much crap for that years later....I mean come on....we most certainly knew each other better than a CALENDER!! BHahhahaa
Make a sawcut at the roost to install a heavy wire mesh for chicken droppings. Still get the fertilizer on rotation and floor for cold weather. Less cleanup, more air circulation. Heck of a gift.

Your father is so precious! It's truly a beautiful thing to see children who appreciate their parents and all the sacrifices they made to produce strong independent and capable adults. We only have them for a short while so take advantage of every opportunity to let them know how much they're loved and appreciated! I lost my mom last July at age 96, only days away from 97, and boy...it's been hard! You did a beautiful thing for Dad and I'm sure he feels immense pride and joy knowing he produced a son of your caliber!! There is nothing more fun than using your own blessings to bless others. Excellent work, Friend!!

I love that epoxy floor. I put laminate flooring in mine and regret it since the edges peel and hold dirt. Wonder what sort of heating element they use for the bars. Maybe wire or bar heater in copper piping? Gorgeous coop. His dad is awesome for sharing that seed soaking trick. I use ammonium nitrate on my corn and it does it real nice however, it always takes awhile for the seeds to come up. This past year I had to do a second planting three weeks late into the season because half the seed I planted didn't come up. If anyone has any more corn growing tricks please share!
I've read in many places that using a 2x4 for a roost, they should stand in the 4" side so they can just stand on it without having to grab it. Easier on their feet. Looks nice otherwise.
yep...100% not the case my friend.....honestly I'd rather go get about a 3 inch log from the woods and make roost poles.....but going "easy" on a chicken's feet.....I'm not so sure it matters. A chickens foot is only about 3 inches ......and look this up.....while a man's resting hand is open.... a birds resting foot is actually closed....so a bird exerts no energy closing it's feet...it actually has to hold it's feet open when flying, at rest the foot is closed. Interesting huh?

Blue eggs? I've never seen blue eggs! I've seen mostly white, and a few brown.
yeppers...easter eggers...however these chickens will lay white eggs...white ear=white eggs but they do have blue legs

I personally do not like those leg bands for the chickens because I had bought some chicks a while back ago and when I bought them I didn't notice when them had a leg band around it until it was too late I had come outside and noticed at limping so I went up to it and one of its legs was swollen when I took a closer look at it I noticed it had a leg band around it that its leg end up growing around and it became really infected and ultimately resulted in the chicken's death there was no way to get the leg band off without cutting the chicken's leg off
interesting...how could ya not notice brother? I'm with ya though....I prefer no leg band...it's a hazard in my opinion too!

I've got ask this question. How in the world is there any profit with all the money going out? Certainly not from the small cattle herd. We farm cattle and many acres of wheat and we'll be lucky if we break even this year. Nice informational video but it's not showing the real cost of farming.
John...my brotha....remember that this is 100% not just a "farm channel" ....we do all sorts of fun projects and along with that I'm building my first generation regenerative farm. The farm was the dream....the way I grew up and the way I wanna live, and my future children to live. I'm not just farming, and this most surely isn't a video showcasing how to earn a living on a small farm. You and I know that earning a living on 150 acres with 55 cows, 100 chickens and more simply is a "full time" Part time job. My primary living is earned creating content here on socials....the content is a show....sometimes about farming, sometimes just about what's going on in my life. Make no mistake that my dream is to live off the land, creating content around my rural lifestyle and more is how I earn part of my living...the farm is the other part. You see me spending money like it's on fire...that's because I'm running a business along with a business. There's more income to earn in "agritainment" than agriculture on this scale my brother. I found an awesome way to earn a living doing something that I love every day! That's such a blessing.
