    I just found this video. I love Meyer Hatchery. I only have bantams, and I got 4 from you: a Green Queen, Steele Egger, Mottled Cochin, and a white Silkie. They hatched August 29, 2022. For anyone reading this, Meyer Hatchery offers vent sexed day-old chicks and I think that is wonderful, especially for those of us who live in a place that doesn't allow roosters. I previously had to rehome 4 roos (out of 6 chicks) from another hatchery. It's heartbreaking to raise them for 5 months only to find out they're roos (they were having a crow-off!). The 2 remaining Silkies from the other hatchery watched over the 4 from Meyer Hatchery from nearly the beginning. I started the babies in a rabbit cage inside the coop. After a week they were good to go and there were no problems. The chicks are healthy as can be. Thank you Meyer Hatchery. I loved seeing your set up!

    I'm curious.. the budgies etc... how do they do in the winter? It must get pretty cold there? I would LOVE to let my yellow nape amazon have fun in an aviary but I've always figured that it got too cold here in VA?

  • @nancylayko3739
    @nancylayko3739 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the aviary setup, curious as to what you modify in the winter.
    I noticed that the runs all have pea gravel, how do you keep it clean

    • @MeyerHatchery
      @MeyerHatchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nancy! Pea gravel can be washed with a hose or power washer to remove built up waste. Modifications in the winter may include plastic tarping on the exterior of the aviary.

    very impressive, gj and work to whoever set this up for you. May I ask what you feed the bird? they look super healthy and well taken care of as well. I saw a rooster with very impressive healthy feathers and colors. I'm a first year house owner, so not much experience in this field, but looking into converting an area on our lands to something similar, about half the space you got setup.

    • @MeyerHatchery
      @MeyerHatchery  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @MeyerHatchery

      In aviaries like this where each species has the space they need and the terrain they want, birds can live together easily!
