What a tank of a knife..
Indestructable.
I love mine..
@@sergeantdef.3572 agreed!
It's a Ka-Bar. They make good stuff. Marines love em.
Absolutely. I can see why now.
Great video Tim, I have the BK-2, 7, & 9 . I love these blades . Actually I have 2 BK-2's. I got lucky at a pawnshop one day and the lady had it in there for $20 bucks. Believe me I grabbed it up fast , and in excellent shape!
Well worth the money and even better at $20! In time I'll pick up some more BK's, this BK2 impressed me.
Ive found that if u cut the rivets holding the nylon belt loop on and remove it, the holes line up perfectly with a tecklock type clip
Good info! 👍
did the same thing
I have and own a bk2 which is my only go to knife I use. I always take it when hiking in the wilderness. I'm a big bloke with big hands but even my smaller brother can use it fine. I have partly removed the black coating and it now slices anything with no resistance
Bri w It's certainly a tough beast for sure.
I love my KA-BAR Becker 2
Awesome review Tim! You're going to take over as the ultimate tip test reviewer if you keep this up!! I like this knife, strangely the first thing that drew me to it when I saw it on your Instagram post was the handle. Not usually my kind of handle but this one fits the knife. Thank you my friend.
Just the tip my friend. Just the tip. lol
TheTacticalDefender LMAO!!!
It’s $63.00 on Amazon right now December 2019. Just bought mine. Looking forward to using it and getting out in the wild with it. Good knife for alone time.. can’t wait for it to get here, great review.
Thank you!
TheTacticalDefender hey man, mine got here but I wonder how I can figure out if I have the sheath is the one that dulls the blade upon insertion/removal? Mine has a slot for the drainage btw.
TheTacticalDefender I bought a BK 22 nylon sheath, eBay $17.00 just in case I got the bad sheath. Looking around you tube for answers because like you, I like the sheath, mine is zero rattle and I trust the stock sheath. There is a belt clip for the plastic sheath on eBay as well. It’s under $2.00 so it’s on the way, only downfall to that is the knife may ride too high, not sure.
This is going to be my next knife. I'd camo wrap the grip for that apocalypse aesthetic.
It's a beast for sure. Worth every penny.
Great vid as usual Tim. Greetings from Malta!
Dang! I'm sold!
I thought about this knife for quite a while but I bought the BK7. I also bought the extra micarta handles for it. That made all the difference. Knife is more comfortable and easier to handle.
I didn't want to but I love micarta scales so I just may buy a pair.
They make a world of difference. I used the those black grips for a while and they were ok but I bit the bullet on the micarta. Wow it was a world of difference and made the knife awesome in comfort and handling.
Did you keep the sheath or upgrade that as well?
TheTacticalDefender I kept the sheath but thought about a kydex one but just can't decide on one I like.
Good afternoon, which one do you like best? I do not know which one to buy
Great review Tim, you beat that tree like it owed you money, and the knife kept taking it. My first knife was a G.I. Kabar, it's retired now, but I still have it. I guess they still make quality blades. (Not a big fan if the sheath either). Be well my friend.
Cheers Mate!
I also changed the floppy web strap for tech-loc. Works really well.
Yeah what is on the sheath isn't working for me. I don't mind dangler's as long as they aren't flopping around, that kind of drives me crazy. I like the dangler/drop leg attachment on my ESEE 6 because it's stiff and doesn't move around. It's also easy and off unlike many that I'd have to remove my riggers belt to put on, that would be a pain in the buttocks.
The Tech Loc just unsnaps for removal. No belt removal required. It isn't a dangler type though, the knife will ride high.
Thanks for another wonderful video I enjoy your videos keep them coming
I got a bk7 and bk2 for camping with my brother. I loved the bk7, but my brother thought the bk2 was way to heavy and felt like an axe head attached to a knife handle. We returned it and got him a BK7. (Personal opinion, not a statement of fact.)
Great Knife!!!!
I concur. 👍
3:03 “Yeaaahhh🤩”
light stippling makes that handle where u can grip in mud ,or water, anything dont go to much or u will be standing some off.lol awesome knife it's a beast....1/4" of 1095 heavy side but will always hold a edge and if not u can sharpen with a creekstone....Its a monster....
"Ka-bahhh". 😁😄😀
i have several Bk's including the 7 and 9. Ive been thinking about trading or selling my 4, i just never really used it much. awesome knives
I'm at 9:00 in the vid.
I keep thinking start a fire in that log knot you're tearing up. 😆
Great review, I did buy micarta for mine....
I just might do that.
TheTacticalDefender feels great, and looks great with the micarta
Say Heah Tim, Like today, it's going to rain, But after the storms, I would like to go out. I got a set for wet conditions. I got a couple of Steel Will Knives, The Druid 240 and tge Druid 230. The Druid 240 sort of reminds me of my BK-2, which I like teaming up with my BK-4. Both Druids are made in a decent stainless steel, 9Cr18MoV, It's similar to 440b. but a little better. But don't get me wrong, I still really like my BK-2.,,.p
Glad to see the tree at camp one hasn't fallen yet. What about the sheath dulling blade complaint? Also how does the BK2 compare to the Schrade SCHF 51?
I personally never had a sheath that caused the blade to dull, not that I've noticed anyway. That's a good question, I have both of those knives you mentioned, maybe we'll have to do a test. Thanks for the idea!
If you buy the bk 22 it comes with a nylon sheath instead of the plastic one. The knife is a bk2 companion it just comes with a different sheath
You’re accent is awesome!
🤣 Thank you!
This was really funny to watch
Thank you Anna! I appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Great vid. I really like this knife. I carry it in my car. I figure it will just about get my out any emergency. I did the same, strop and oil. It is a great sharp pry bar. And although it is a shorter blasé the thickness makes up for it. I don't mind he sheath. But you have to be careful, because sometimes it rubs when the blade comes out and it can dull the blade a bit.
That's a good way of looking at it, a sharp pry bar. lol
Man that knife took a lot of abuse. Nice video Tim.
William Confer Thank you my friend. I appreciate you taking the time to watch. Hope everything is going well on your end.
Do a comparison review please Tim, between the Bk2 and the esee 5. Only you can do an honest comparison. Thanks Tim
I'll see what I can do.
I'm glad Bill turned us on to the channel. Great TH-cam channel Tim
Thank you!
I appreciate you stopping by.
++TheTacticalDefender - QUESTION: Does use of the sheath (inserting and withdrawing the BK-2) dull the knife's blade? I'm only asking because I've heard a couple of fellows who uploaded reviews on this very knife say the sheath does in fact dull the blade. So these fellows suggested buying an alternate sheath like a leather sheath. IS THERE VALIDITY TO THEIR CLAIM ABOUT THE STOCK SHEATH DULLING THE BLADE?? In any case, I enjoyed your video upload here and like your honest style.
Can't say I've ever had that issue with the BK2 or any other knife I own with plastic or kydex sheaths. I have ESEE knives with kydex sheaths for 7 years with no dulling because of the sheaths. I'm not saying the others are wrong... just saying it's never been an issue for you.
@@GearReviewDepot Thank you for your quick response. (Who could ask for more?) Say the sheath really does dull the blade, it's probably a minimal problem. This after seeing you use your BK-2 to destroy that log and hammer into the log's knot yet the knife STILL maintains its edge. Thank you so much (again) for your response.
The Nylon Dangler is part of the official kabar sheath.
Your guy removed the snap. And replaced it paracord instead.
dude not only that, if you look at the rear of the sheath, you can see that you can run some band with a velcro and wrap that around your leg, it will keep sheath strapped on to your body solid, not sure why no one sees it
Can you rig it to your pack with molle loks ?
I haven't tried but I'm guessing you could.
Yes
Nice review.....when you oil your blades what kinda oil do you use?......Stay Safe.... Steve from Chicagoland.
After I get home from the woods I quickly strop the blade a few times and hit it with WD40 and them wipe off any excess and place back in the sheath till next time. WD40 is great, I never have rust issues and all my fixed blades are 1095.
I use mineral oil to keep my knife safe for food.
Use chef's knife oil, just in case you have to use your knife to process food.
Excalibur! 😉
Love love love my BK2 but did not like shealth. You need to loc-tight the bolts . The knife will do anything you need.
So far it seems that way, I was really hard on it and it just kept smiling.
What Ranger Band size would you recommend for the handle?
bkdesignr I've only seen or used one size myself, honestly wasn't aware they come in different sizes. I'd say a band slightly larger than a ring/wedding band.
TheTacticalDefender I THINK I've seen various sizes but I'll look out for the size you mentioned. Thanks man, great vid!
Last review at camp 1? Who knows. Nevertheles, this would be a great ending here 😜
Nope. lots more coming. I was at the camp today working on videos and hanging in a hammock, the old tree is still standing. For now. lol
I just received my BK-2 from the factory and the knife looked great, but like you I am not crazy about the sheath due to the nylon hanging down. I put the knife in the sheath and could not get it out. Since you received your knife used you may not be having that problem with the sheath. I will contact the factory and see how I can get the knife out of the sheath.
If anyone else has this question- use your wife's blow dryer on it for a few minutes and it will loosen right out. Over time the sheath will loosen and you won't need the dryer technique.
fair play, now dont't have heart attack you
Whoever labeled that as a *"sharpened pry bar"* was right!
This is true. 😁
Are you using a dslr?
No. I've been using the Canon G7x Mark II for almost a year now, love this camera. I was using the T5i and then the G3x both with the RODE videomic pro and I actually like the video and audio now with this small pocket camera and on board mic. I ACTUALLY like the audio better than when I was using the RODE video Mic Pro. Do you think it looks and sounds good? Honest opnion.
TheTacticalDefender the sound is perfect and the video quality is really good. I am trying to improve my video quality so I can get to the next level with subs. I just did a BK2 video about a week ago. Beast knife.
The video quality is better than most ive seen....i want mine to be this good damn it lol
I've used bigger cameras, like DSLR's and a few camcorders (all Canon) and after a while I was carrying this large heavy rig, I was happy with the audio and video but it was just too big and heavy to hike with (I'm getting old. lol) One day i was watching a video from Ben over at Living Survival and he's using the older model of the G7x and I was blown away with the audio and video quality in such a small package. Soon after that the Mark II came out with a few extra features, like being able to connect the camera to an external Anker battery and charge it while in the woods, or in my car while driving to locations. I was sold, bought and honestly can't be happier. If something happened to it right now I'd ordert he same exact camera in a heart beat.
What are you using now for video and audio? I watched your videos, they look and sound good.
I got mine today on flea market for 8$
That’s a great price for a great knife!
@@GearReviewDepot you're right ser I was surprised myself .
Just wanted to say hi
Thank you for stopping by.
This abuse makes me cringe! Thanks for a great video.
Thanks for watching.
Tim I think that tree is dead ! Big down side of the BK2 is it's weight. I have a Schrade 51, very similar but way too thick and heavy for me. For a little more get the King of knives..........the ESEE6. Or if you need a beast the ESEE5. Keep 'em coming my friend.
Yeah, the tree isn't going anywhere. lol
I have the 4, 5 and the 6... all great knives from ESEE. The 6 right now is my primary outdoor knife. The 4 and the 5 have been beat on and used hard through the years but I haven't really "tested" the 6 yet. No worries, I know it would pass with ease.
BK2 beats the ESEE5. Look up the Dutch Bushcraft video on it. They beat the absolute shit out of both blades (including batoning through cinder blocks) and the BK2 beat the ESEE5.
