I feel like it's weird if there is no connection to Ironman. At the very least I would hope that the Avengers when they meet him go "hey, that looks like Tony Stark". I could invision a scene in a movie where RDJ cameos and the "good guys" gets tricked thinking it's a Tony variant. That would be a smart reason to have RDJ be the actor in that case. But if they don't do anything like that where they are putting the fact that he looks like Tony Stark as part of the plot, this doesn't really make sense otherwise.
People were already reporting on it last week, no way they could have kept it secret for a post credit scene and he'd probably keep his mask on in any post credit scene so this reveal makes a lot more sense
The anchor being stuff is really dumb, so I hope they don't keep it in the future. It's obviously a McGuffin mechanism to make certain characters seem more important but it collapses due to its own illogic. A Universe is billions of years old - a 'human' being exists for an infinitesimally small amount of time, and that existence is contingent on everything that went on before. For example, if you parents never existed, then neither can you, so if you are an anchor being then so are they and all their parents and so on and so on. So you are basically back to the idea that any time travel creates an alternate reality - which makes sense, without the special pleading from the screen writer, where the time travel just does or does not do, whatever the plot wants. Which...is what the MCU has now.
But they repaired Earth-10005 and saved it from doom (lol). I think you can get a new anchor being but they have to prove themselves and their place within that universe. Like it's a meta contextual narrative thing where anchors are franchises and the respective hero being that franchise. The Foxverse was basically dead after Jackman left with the Deadpool franchise being left in limbo for a bit while Marvel hashed out what to do. It's been "fixed" because there are more stories about Deadpool (and Wolverine), plus he's now interconnected with the MCU through his 4th wall breaking shenanigans, and the TVA connection. I feel like any universe that's interconnected with the MCU is safe from annihilation as those hero's or worlds serve a purpose to the overall timeline of the 616. Anyways that my 2cents
I like turtles!!! Just kidding. What I mean by that is....chill a bit maybe? It's a plot point that is meant to simplify things and clean up all the messes left behind by Disney chitting the bed during phases 4 and so far, 5 while trying to take itself wayyyy too seriously. You could male the same case for the infinity stones and DEFINITELY the gauntlet. Talk about silly and convenient. Do you know what cable ties are? We need something to tie all this multiverse/timeline nonsense into a manageable experience. You think the tva be sufficient but they're running into new problem in every series/film. So something to ANCHOR things to help things make sense isn't the worst thing that could happen. And just so it's out there...there is a villain LITERALLY called PARADOX. More than a strong metaphor and literal way to clue us in that the countless scientific paradoxes for time travel and multiversal travel are probably gonna be ignored on some level. In some of the comics, he is the REASON they can be broken. Maybe they'll get into that. But seeing as they portrayed him as a tantrum throwing unintelligent ninnypuss...I doubt it. They can't do EVERYTHING
I understand why Deadpool would call himself "Marvel Jesus" bc he's such a self-absorbed joke-cracking asshole (nothing wrong with that) but this RDJ casting is so laughably bad
@@summertyme5748you must be a blast at parties. Also, if Deadpool is marvel Jesus, RDJ has just been announced to be Marvel Satan. And I’m 100% here for it
I'm going to be honest, having Rpbert Downey Jr. be Doctor Doom instead of Cillian Murphy when they both won Oscars for the same film feels like the biggest safety net ever. Also, with bringing back the Russo brothers who initially said that they didn't want to direct the next Avengers films and that they didn't want to work with Marvel again until the end of the decade, all of this feels like a panic move. I think Marvel and the Russo brothers looked at all their recent failures and concluded that they needed each other to be successful and decided to return to the status quo.
Russo’s would repeatedly state that their dream film would be adapting Secret Wars… when the news broke out that the movie was being done and their name was no where attached I was honestly pretty shocked. Maybe it was some behind the scenes disagreements that have now been resolved.
Who cares? Every Russo bros MCU film is in the top 10 for most MCU fans, so... let them do what they do best. I admit the RDJ casting is a bit controversial and I'm not sure til I see what they do.
I’m not mad that they didn’t pick one specific dude but yeah. There’s a million angry looking Eastern European guys they could have got and any of them would have been better for it.
I think a Variant of Howard Stark's kid is adopted by Weren von doom who named him Victor, this would explain him being a variant of Tony Stark and being Dr Doom at the same time[also I think Dr Doom and Iron man are similar, both rich smart people. Both have armours. Both are awesome]
As long as he has the name Victor Von Doom. Like maybe he was separated from his parents at a very young age, and was raised in Latveria, with the name Von Doom. Still has that Stark intelligence, but uses it in a totally different way because of his upbringing. If they can treat him like they did Thanos in Infinity War, where he is really the main character then great.
As a late 80s born ,90s kid millennial, I have been a witness to superhero film era. I have survived few bad ones and has appreciated a lot of good ones too. I believe the peak was Endgame and now such time will never return.😢 We had few duds from mcu after endgame apart from couple of enjoyable ones like no way home and deadpool wolverine. But they were mostly a fan service or nostalgia betting. Now with bringing RDJ now this feels like what's the point ? not only it will dilute the emotional sacrifice we saw in Endgame but we will keep making comparisons around tony stark and doom characters as same actor is playing both. I will watch Avengers films when they will come and probably a Spiderman venom crossover if they make one . however rest of all fillers like black captain america or eternals , lady hulk I am gonna avoid for sure. The excitement is over for me. Signing off once a die hard fan of superhero films.
@@optumisprime900 seems rushed to me. They could have saved Doom for after avengers secret invasion. They just written out Kang after Majors controversy which is a hasty decision imo. They probably cast RDJ for "cameo" hype. Short term gains for rushed story arc
Doomsday ending: Doom finds out loki is holding the multiverse together and reaches him outside of time and space and defeats him, thus controlling the reins
Given Marvels history, eg that infamous planned movies timeline, I doubt they have much more than the title yet. Maybe a brief synopsis and Downey Jr in a cape. Hope they do have a serious plan and get back to decent story telling.
RDJ would NEVER have signed on if there wasn't a plan that he loved. I'm positive the multi-verse shit will go away within a couple more films given that D&W had Deadpool talking about how shitty it was for half the film.
I'm excited about the announcement. Imagine if RDJ is both Dr Doom and a Tony Stark variant Iron Man..RDJ against RDJ....or get Tom Cruise Iron Man against RDJ Tony Stark...there could be all kinds of things happen. I don't think this was an act of desperation by Marvel, I think it's RDJ who loves working with Marvel and Marvel loves working with RDJ coming up with something new and different for RDJ to do to spread his acting chops.
I have to think the fact that he looks like Tony Stark will be part of the plot (especially in this world where people can change their appearance and have variants from other universes) otherwise, this doesn't really make sense to me. But what does kind of suck is this makes me think it's less likely that he'll be a villan in the same vien as Thanos that was teased in 3-4 different movies and then was a huge part of 2 Avengers movies. Cause I feel like an RDJ "tease/cameo" in a movie would cost a lot more than Josh Brolin.
@@agentkirb Dr. Doom WILL be the main villain in Secret Wars. Go watch the Secret Wars from Spider-Man TAS! They will do it like that where he steals the Beyonder's powers but with a "secret" twist at the end! lol!
He won't have the disfigured face and he'll barely wear the mask. Mark my words. It makes no sense to hire a very recognizable actor and cover up his face most of the time.
They could use kang one last time, but tony stark was the last survivor and something happens to him to change into doom and kill all version of kang throughout the multiverse....
This just shows how few ideas Fiege actually has. It's like someone who put a new coat of paint on a house they bought and then said, "look at this house I built".
I just think some of you seriously need to calm tf down…. There is literally precedence for this in the comics…. It’s also pretty obvious RDJ won’t be the main 616 Doom😂
@@kane7173 theres precedence for a lot of things in comics but that doesnt make them good ideas. Also infamous iron man wasnt even about stark it was about DOOM being iron man. Would it be a good idea to torture spiderman in another dimension for 10 years because it happened in a Superman comic? No.
How do people STILL not understand that content creators see the episodes earlier and schedule their vids to post like, immediately after it airs? The fact that this continues to mystify people hurts my brain.
I reckon this Dr Doom will be Tony stark variant, and later in the future, after his defeat, there will be a Victor character that enter the F4 series as the comics accurate Dr Doom
They wouldn't have had RDJ standing on stage with Doomsday and Secret Wars banners behind him if that were the plan, would they? Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like a bait and switch from Marvel would be a really bad thing to do at this point considering that every single film they've put out since Endgame has been total dogshit.
I know this is a long shot but you posted a video before endgame came out with plot leaks that had Tony stark being the real villian in endgame or something of the sort I went back through to see if I could find it and I think it was taken down I’m not sure if you still have this content but is it possible this was always a fallback plan for marvel to lean on RDJ to revive the MCU?
Had no idea Johnathan Majors was having legal issues. Damn. Honestly loved his character (acting) in AntMan. Most believable character in all these Marvel movies. A++++
It still bums me out that we're not getting to see Kang realized as a villain. He was a prime candidate for a recast and still had so much potential as a villain if Marvel recast him correctly and put some good writers in place.
_still bums me out that we're not getting to see Kang realized as a villain_ They f'd this character up, and you just aren't able to admit. AntMan 3 is one of the worst MCU films ever and there is no coming back from that. In that film Janet Van Dyne claims she told them to stay away from the Quantum Realm. Uhm, no she didn't. She literally sent Scott into the Quantum Realm to get the healing particles for Ghost. That is a key plot point for the entire MCU and the writer of Quantumania simply forgot. The whole film is a mess. Kang being trapped in the Quantum Realm already makes him a hopeless idiot and a fool. He somehow "needs" tech from the Pym family from the 21st century - but he is from the 31st Century! It's like your plot is Captain Kirk is lost in space and needs a telescope from Magellan to find his way home. 🤣 When Kang catches the Pym family because they stupidly 'fall' back into the Quantum Realm.....he FORGETS to take their Pym particles. 🤣 (So AntMan and Cassie can keep growing big and small and smashing Kang's toys). You luckily catch the people with the 1000 year old pym formula you need...and are stupid too stupid to create yourself, and then you are too stupid to take the particles away from them. Even Kang's plan to have Scott (blow up in size) in order to (shrink down) the time chair begs the question - why not take the PARTICLES away and do it yourself. The writer of this film was stupid. He destroyed the character. He was fired because of this so you need to let it go.
RDJ has always just played himself as Ironman but with Doom it will be more of a challenge to a amazing actor like him it’s gonna be great seeing the MCUs greatest Superhero to biggest villain
My jaw was literally on the ground when I saw the news. For the first time in a long time I didn’t hear one person theorize this scenario with RDJ. Nobody saw this coming, just insanity.
except for in the clip Emergency Awesome played where Dr. Doom stepped forward and an audience member says “Robert Downey Jr! Robert Downey Jr!” Just before RDJ pulls the mask off.
I think the "anchors" could be the people who created the new branch, Wolverine is the one who made the timeline branch in Days of Future Past. All the Fox movies can be put into 1 timeline, with Days of Future Past as the reset, for the remakes
I'm calling it now - in Secret War, Loki will arrive in Doom's throne room and it will be a shot for shot remake of the scene from Avengers 1 wherein Loki confronts Stark, only this time Loki will let loose a Hulk-esque person on Doom and have a similar "puny god" line afterward.
Well the 90's Spiderman: TAS The Beyonder's power Doctor Doom took it by merging it within him literally causing a catastrophe not realizing he couldn't control such power. You also had Joan Lee's Madam Web playing an integral part to the Secret Wars storyline.
RDJ as Doom feels wrong, it's a mistake it's missing out opportunity to cast someone else amazing as Doom, while it only diminishing RDJs impact as Iron Man
You might be right, but you are leaping to huge conclusions. They are better reasons for saying that drug using jail bird RDJ would be complete disaster as Iron Man and destroy the MCU. Yet, how'd that turn out?
@summertyme5748 that is entirely different his impact on the mcu from day one has been incredible, but I only see that impact being lessend by his role as doom it's too much of a good thing that it will be distracting and remove import that Doom needs, like there are so many amazing actors that could've been Doom and now we loss the opportunity for something even better.
When Deadpool first fell into the void the secret wars comic was next to him, I think the Void being battleworld makes sense, I can see Doomsday being like the civil war fight scene with earth 616 hero’s seeing hero’s from other universes with someone like Loki or Strange and presuming they are evil. Be really cool to see what happens and I can’t wait to see what’s next… I am optimistic but surely it can’t be worse than anything since endgame right?
The only reasonable explanation for me is that in the comics, Kang was originally a descendant of the inventor of time travel, which was Doom. However, in the MCU, Iron man invented time travel. Doom is probably now a variant of Tony and will be from the 1960s universe that the FF movie is rumored to take part in. I’m sure the creators thought that it woudnt make sense to introduce Doom in the main MCU timeline, since there has never been any hint of Latveria unlike the Black Panther, in which they had teased Wakanda, vibranium and Klaw before he was introduced.
Apparently spider man is to be the “main” character of doomsday, so I imagine Peter’s history with Tony Stark will play a big part in him fighting Doctor Doom, I can imagine him getting the black suit in secret wars and going absolutely berserk on Doom because he sees him almost like a mockery of the man he idolised
Variety already reported that he's not a Stark variant, just straight up Doom the same way Chris Evans played both Johnny Storm and Steve Rogers but neither are variants. So it's not Infamous Iron Man or anything, just Doom.
The whole anchor thing was actually kind of introduced with Spider-Man miles morales. They just slightly altered the rules in terms of the destruction of the timeline and making it so that it can occur naturally
Marvel still have a fair bit of unresolved plot threads to resolve: the origin of the Ten Rings in the post-credits; Kang being trapped in the quantum void(?); the Council of Kangs; etc. Just a shame things didn’t work out with Majors, as the Kang Dynasty would’ve been an interesting story to see unfold. The climax of Loki season 2 did a lot of justice to tying up some loose ends, but there’s still a lot hanging, for me. Conversely, Doom is a great character: just hope it works with RDJ. Can’t see him in any other role outside of Iron Man.
Doom being just an iron man variant is a huge disservice to the character, have RDJ play a version of Victor Von Doom who coincidentally looks a little like Tony Stark, but since he wears his mask for 95% of his screen time none of the characters know and when his mask is removed they could style RDJ to look very different from TS. Or make him an iron man variant who is a servant of the real Dr Doom
If they don’t announce RDJ being part of a project, the project will sell 40% less at the box office, if not 50-60. They did this to literally resuscitate the MCU and keep the momentum from Deadpool and Wolverine going
My theory: Tony is a descendant of victor and in the f4 timeline victor is played by RDJ! It makes sense because that timeline is retro futuristic, “different mask same task” in my opinion means he’s playing a similar character with the same task of protecting the world, Doom could be looked at as a evil Iron man with magic to be honest
I think a Doom variant's gone done transfered his consciousness into a Tony Stark variant's body like in the Demon in an Armor storyline. This means he's easily able to disguise himself as "a Tony", or to identify as "Tony Stark" around those who don't know he's a Doom. A lot of ppl still call him "Tony", but his friends call him Victor. Or simply "Doom". Doom's not really going around advertising to other characters that he's Doom, or outright telling people "I am Doom" all the time; whereas, any other Stark variants out there are technically still able to truly say to others, "I am Ironman". This variant of Tony is "different" from other Tonys in that way, and different from other characters in the Multiverse, because he's literally had a Victor Von Doom variant stuck in his head for years- instead of simply thinking about Thanos for years like how the real, original Tony did. It might not be technically correct to call him Tony Stark anymore, but people still often do lol It's sort of like that one time Doc Ock went and ended up with his mind inside Peter Parker's body, becoming "the Superior Spider-Man" (as some called ol' Octavius at that point...) and acting as Spider-Man, living Peter's life in Peter's body. Except in this case, Doctor Doom's gone and stuck himself in Tony Stark's body, and RDJ is "an actor playing a Doctor Doom Variant pretending to be Tony Stark", who's been living totally rent-free in Tony's head for many years by this point (as what he probably thinks to be "the superior Tony Stark" lol). Doc Ock ends up in a poor teenager's head/body when he takes over Spider-Man's life in the Superior Spider-Man storyline, but Doctor Doom trades up by going for Tony Stark, and stealing all Tony's wealth, power, and resources away from the Stark variant during the Doom variant's younger years. It instantly made the young Doom variant wealthy, powerful, and famous, while still allowing him to compete with and rival any of the Reed variants who come along... It may sort of bother him when people call him "Tony", so he might feel a need to say, "I'm Victor", or flat-out say, "I am Doom" to everyone eventually. Like "hey, guys, it's me, Doom, trust me I'm NOT Tony Stark and I'm NOT Ironman, I'm one of you guys who just stuck himself in Tony Stark's body... ya gotta let me on the Doom Council! I heard you guys were thinking about creating a new Council to rival The Reed Council now that most those pesky Kangs are gone, and you didn't invite me, the greatest Doom variant of all, to the party...," Just to clarify that, while he may currently be stuck inside a Tony Stark's body, he's still 100% a Victor Von Doom on the inside. As much of a Doom as the next Doom, or any other Doom. And he's the type of asshole who might seriously steal a Beyonder's powers, then become more like The Beyonder before starting referring to himself as God-Emperor Doom
Have you all heard of "Infamous Ironman"? They could be adapting it, as a variant of Victor Von Doom that looks like Tony Stark. He comes to the Sacred timeline and by interacting with Tony Stark's AI and actually looking like him, he takes on the mantle, until they realise that he ain't really Tony...

Sounds like the terminator plot
Especially when there's no explanation of why the anchor being is so important to the universe. It's flashpoint to the max
You and your channel has been my go to for tv and movies for years. It never gets boring. Well done mate.
Don't stop with Doom, let's have RDJ play Silver Surfer and Mole man!!
While they're at it, have him play Magneto, Nova, & Galactus too!😂😂😂

Deadpool: I'm Marvel Jesus

I understand why Deadpool would call himself "Marvel Jesus" bc he's such a self-absorbed joke-cracking asshole (nothing wrong with that) but this RDJ casting is so laughably bad
The commercial where Deadpool makes beer cans out of Logan's claws is a lowpoint for the MCU. Even crass marketing...should have its limits.

That's exactly what this feels like
@@summertyme5748you must be a blast at parties.
Russos ALWAYS said they would return to do Avengers Secret Wars. ALWAYS. Don't know where you got your info from.
Cillian will be galactus

This is the first comment on this video I have read that isn't either stupid or REALLY stupid.
i think theres better actors that fit that name better

Given Marvels history, eg that infamous planned movies timeline, I doubt they have much more than the title yet. Maybe a brief synopsis and Downey Jr in a cape. Hope they do have a serious plan and get back to decent story telling.
Actually I'm tired of all this multiverse nonsense.
RDJ would NEVER have signed on if there wasn't a plan that he loved. I'm positive the multi-verse shit will go away within a couple more films given that D&W had Deadpool talking about how shitty it was for half the film.
Whether it's reliability or desperation
It’s actually perfect in every way
Thank you for all the Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers references; it remains the greatest Marvel story ever written to this day
I'm excited about the announcement.
If doom is supposed to be horribly disfigured and wears a mask the whole time ... Why Rdj ?
I have to think the fact that he looks like Tony Stark will be part of the plot (especially in this world where people can change their appearance and have variants from other universes) otherwise, this doesn't really make sense to me. But what does kind of suck is this makes me think it's less likely that he'll be a villan in the same vien as Thanos that was teased in 3-4 different movies and then was a huge part of 2 Avengers movies. Cause I feel like an RDJ "tease/cameo" in a movie would cost a lot more than Josh Brolin.
Since he’s horribly disfigured and wears a mask the whole time why not RDJ???
@MrAjCalderon Because it cost crazy money to pay RDJ. Why pay that amount of money to have someone wear a mask for most of the role
I hate the choice by marvel to bring back RDJ, it seems lazy
They could use kang one last time, but tony stark was the last survivor and something happens to him to change into doom and kill all version of kang throughout the multiverse....

It still bums me out that we're not getting to see Kang realized as a villain. He was a prime candidate for a recast and still had so much potential as a villain if Marvel recast him correctly and put some good writers in place.
_still bums me out that we're not getting to see Kang realized as a villain_
They f'd this character up, and you just aren't able to admit.
When Kang catches the Pym family because they stupidly 'fall' back into the Quantum Realm.....he FORGETS to take their Pym particles.
Nah, Kang just isn't imposing or menacing enough to be anywhere on the level of thanos or doom. He just doesn't have the aura to make people excited.
RDJ has always just played himself as Ironman but with Doom it will be more of a challenge to a amazing actor like him it’s gonna be great seeing the MCUs greatest Superhero to biggest villain

It’s not ur just in too deep
Agreed! Doom is the greatest villain in Marvel and you introduce him with an actor we've already seen....it's silly.
Not sure I really agree with it diminishing anything. If he as brought back as iron man then yeah, but doom?
@summertyme5748 that is entirely different his impact on the mcu from day one has been incredible, but I only see that impact being lessend by his role as doom it's too much of a good thing that it will be distracting and remove import that Doom needs, like there are so many amazing actors that could've been Doom and now we loss the opportunity for something even better.
Please make a video movie breakdown of what secret wars could potentially be about? 😌
I think it makes sense to pivot towards "variant tony", as i dont see Marvel ditching the multiverse, or multiuniverse, that bluntly.
I don't how how to feel about this. I think it should be someone else. I like rdj but as doctor doom. Not as much.
I am so excited for what’s ahead and feel like we 100% get Loki as Avenger Prime. We need a Loki/Thor reconciliation love fest.
The infamous Ironman has arrived
Lol no he hasn't and it doesn't make any sense if they do that 😅
I just hope we get comic accurate Doom one day

Variety already reported that he's not a Stark variant, just straight up Doom the same way Chris Evans played both Johnny Storm and Steve Rogers but neither are variants. So it's not Infamous Iron Man or anything, just Doom.
Lol nope not even Close Doom just took Ironman Mantal and wears Ironman suit 🥱 Desperate Move by Kevin
2008 : " I am Iron man "
2026 : " I am Dr. Doom '
The whole anchor thing was actually kind of introduced with Spider-Man miles morales. They just slightly altered the rules in terms of the destruction of the timeline and making it so that it can occur naturally
*_I'm excited for the future for once._*
I hope doom doesn't show his face

You die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.
So does the rdj version gonna be in fantastic 4?
It’s a bold strategy cotton, let’s see if it pays off for them.
Dr. Doom would be so pissed.
Doom: If they won’t give me my own face, I’ll steal the face of everyone at Disney with this FACE STEALING RAY!
Maybe Loki is the beyonder of the MCU? His anchoring of the entirety of the timelines could play a massive role in the overall story.
Good take. If Disney wanted to place a pretty bow on the shitshow it was pre Doom, they would use him as the 1 beyonder
I *HOPE* that Loki is somehow *very* important in this plot! 🤞
He *should* be!
Damn still have to wait for Avengers movie after many years went by! 😢
Still it's surprising and waiting to see what will happen 😅
All these variants will be a lot of fun.
Theres gonna be an arc where Doom and his stark like looks talks holland into joining his purpose. Tobey and Andrew V Holland coming up.
The Fantastic 4 sizzle reel is out and it’s legit. I wish I could post the link but TH-cam ain’t having it.
It might not be technically correct to call him Tony Stark anymore, but people still often do lol
It's sort of like that one time Doc Ock went and ended up with his mind inside Peter Parker's body, becoming "the Superior Spider-Man" (as some called ol' Octavius at that point...) and acting as Spider-Man, living Peter's life in Peter's body.
