      fyi- written by Sonny Curtis....who became the lead singer of The Crickets after Buddy Holly's death. He also wrote MORE THAN I CAN SAY/leo sayer covr and I FOUGHT THE LAW (and the law won). I recall from an interview, that Curtis sid that IF Andy Wlliams chose to sing the the MTM theme song..."fine"....otherwise he'd take on the duties. Also, as I recall from a TV GUIDE poll from @15 years ago, the MTM theme song is rated the #2 series theme song...2nd to only the HAWAII FIVE-O theme song.

    IMO at her peak of beauty when she started the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

  • @gioknows

    I had such a crush on her as a little boy. She was beautiful and elegant and smart...the women in movies and on tv today are either not allowed to portray things the way MTM did or they just don't have the talent. Today any show with a strong female has a cast of male buffoons around her to make her look better and Mary didn't need that (except for Ted Baxter of course) an for the pessimists who think this show was a CIA plot to get women out of the house and into the work force all I can say is my Mother was a business person and was still 100% woman.

    The reason Mary didn't call Lou "Lou", is because of the age difference not her gender; Sue Ann (Betty White) called him "Lou"

    • @blacbraun
      @blacbraun 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, everyone called him Lou except Mary. She is just old school that way. Besides, he's only 7 years older than her.

    • @coldwinter5710
      @coldwinter5710 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blacbraun On the show, their ages were portrayed as having a much bigger age gap. They didn't go by their ages in real life.

    • @blueblur8420
      @blueblur8420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@coldwinter5710 Exactly. As we all know, Mary Richards was 30 years old in the first season (3 to 4 years younger than Mary Tyler Moore herself at the time). In the season 1 finale, the episode is literally called "The 45-Year-Old Man", referring to Lou Grant. This means he's at least 14 years older than Mary.

    Whats a "Tiffany network"?

    • @johnfd0210
      @johnfd0210 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was not worded correctly, it should have read something like, "The Tiffany of the three networks..." ie, it was the best. It would be akin if talking about movie studios in decades past, "MGM was the Tiffany of Hollywood studios." As stated, it makes it sound as if there was a network called "Tiffany".

    An early example of a successful "psych-op", to help get women into the work force, a
    pre-E.R.A. effort.
    Have less babies...
    More tax money...
    Destroy family tradition...
