I was tailed for a mile at night, by a car with badly adjusted headlights, I was considering taking avoiding action, as in an area known for car-jacking (but who would want my old car!).
They followed me right into my road, then put the blue lights on waking lots of neighbours.
Of course they knew where I lived, they had plenty of time to run a check on cars plate.
My "crime"? 30 mph, in a 30 mph zone, "Nobody does that at night"! "Had I been drinking?" Cheeky, or what?
The previous week I was sitting with a police driving instructor, I was incandescent with rage, but kept quiet.
No body cams... that's suspect. No dash cams... that's obvious and deliberate.
Most of em have no radar to clock speed either. Judge takes the cops word on what speed you were traveling. State troopers are different though.
So, it's my understanding they are meant to get you out of the vehicle if they suspect you are in possession of a weapon, yet no Terry grope was performed. Was that more evidence of the gang members power trip and five year old mentality?

These cops need reasonable articulable suspicion or proof that you have or intend to commit a crime BEFORE RUNNING ANY ID… INCLUDING YOUR TAGS!
They violate your 4th amendment right to privacy. It’s unlawful for government to indiscriminately run people through data banks. The Supreme Court has ruled on this.
They don’t. That holds for detention and ID of individuals. There have been cases in which running license plates for a malicious or nefarious reason was considered unlawful or misconduct, but generally police ARE allowed to run publicly available information if they choose.
It’d be incumbent to prove that they were doing it for an unofficial, unlawful purpose (stalking, looking up an address of someone who cut them off in their personal vehicle, checking into a history of a vehicle they wanted to buy, etc) that could get them into trouble.

It's absolutely legal. An argument can be made that, if your car is in your driveway and it hasn't moved (re: inoperable) and the tag is expired, that's one thing, HOWEVER, if you are in a parking lot in the city and you're moving the car around, the logical assumption is, you drove it there which means you were operating your vehicle on public roads with expired or seemingly registration. It would be your obligation to prove that you did not drive it on public roadways. A smarter cop would have waited across the street for you to exit the lot onto the road and then initiate a stop. Would make his case better.

Bait cars is a great idea, citizens need to start setting up there cars as a bait car.
You should get a parabolic laser mic so you can record what cops say when they think they're not being heard 20feet away.
I could be wrong, but I feel like that would violate most States' laws on recording where you have to, at least, be a party in the conversation.
@@Enigma.and.Shadows - Perhaps. I believe the Federal law that regulates wire tapping only refers to "private" conversations such as phone calls or in a persons home. Its possible a judge would conclude the officers conversation taking place inside a squad car would be considered "private" but you may be able to get past that by simply informing the officer they are being recorded at the beginning of your interaction but not being specific about how you're doing it.
Could be mistaken for a firearm, not good.
It also depends how good your hearing is, a phone can be used in the same way...

The cop had no legal reason to even run your plate. On private property, not committing a traffic infraction, not committing a crime, just sitting there minding your own business. Then proceeds to order you back to the car, then out of the car, then stand here, then stand there, then more directives.

I was in my property n a sweeny tx cop ran my plates n I was told by the police station that if my plates can be seen from public they can be ran n it dosent come up on any records.

So the Deputy/Officer just said that even thought he knows 100% that the registration is valid, that he would pull you over and cite you? Meaning since he knows it's valid it would be an invalid traffic stop... And he admitted so in front of a Sgt. Should play well in court.

Just thought I'd give some info here: he's not sticking his chest out as in trying to look tough or something, what he's actually doing is pulling on the plate carrier to relieve some of the weight/pressure or to get some airflow in there. When I was in the army we did the same thing with our plate carriers. It helps to relieve the weight when you push up on it and also helps get some air in between your body and the plate carrier. It gets heavy wearing those all day especially if it's really hot outside and this can help a little bit.. they definitely need dash cams and body cameras though, it's 2023, every single officer should have at least a dash cam if not both by now..
Florida law is to detain someone who doesn’t have proper registration so the simple fact they are just letting you go is very obvious of them realizing they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

I am an Indiana residen, my license is Indiana and my vehicle is registered in Indiana. My husband and I have been pulled over in Ohio, Georgia and Kentucky because when they run my plates they come back as expired registration, invalid tags, unregistered or no registration at all.
That Deputy actually seemed like a true dump truck, I'm a retired Corrections Officer (County Corrections) we were held to a higher standard and if we didn't adhere to that we got walked off the facility and I made a personal decision to know the law and Title 15 better than the inmates luckily the inmates are not the brightest bulbs in the package.
I actually had an inmate tell me that because I was handling the boxed lunches I needed to wear gloves, I told him he was correct and as soon as he ate that cardboard box I would gladly wear gloves from that moment on, inmates are dumb.

And get money to pay for all the cameras like this man has and pay for the tickets and lawyers !! If we could just be on the police ever single day and every min . I think that after a few weeks you should start to see sum real change. We the people need to stand up. I don't want no one to break the law or do anything stupid but I want people to start to push back at the police at any chance they get. We want better for are kids and we don't want to worry about just going to the store and getting harassed by the police or get pulled over for no reason, so the cop can try and find a reason to give you a ticket or take you to jail. Then that person loses his job for not showing up to work because they were in jail and then they can't pay there bills and get kicked out of there home and then there wife leaves them and takes the kids . This is sick that this happens and that it will keep happening. It happening once they should of stopped but they don't care because they think that there superman and o. The other side of that blue line. Funny thing is I'm a strong supporter for police but after seeing this stuff and all the stuff that is wrong with policing these days I feel really confused and hurt and distrust and disrespected ! I've been treated very poorly from police in my pass and I still support them but its the way that they are being trained these days and how there trainer teaches them that not everyone knows there rights and you can break them because they won't know that they are being broken. You should ask for the records of his personal phone.. He took video of you on it.. It is now evidence.. NOT JUST THE VIDEO, But anything done on that phone in the hour prior and after.

Have you noticed with these dirty cops, they only say things like "You are being childish", "You are being difficult", and so on, only and only after you assert your rights. Their faces tell you they don't usually get challenged and prefer people who either don't know or who give up their rights.

People who seek power and control 99% of the time it's because they have neither in any part of their life. honestly I hate that for them... To not be able to understand basic human psychology...
