My grandparents listened to, and gave me old "The Shadow" radio show recordings which I loved. I could not have loved the silver shroud side quest more for what I'm assuming is its influence from it.
That and I truly loved the radio drama;s you could listen to in that part of the city for Silver Shroud. :) and hey for what it's worth there is a lengthy follow up to that lil side story in Fallout 76 following the actress from those radio drama's with The Order Of Mysteries questline. :) or at least it felt like it.
The Silver Shroud when mixed with the DLC The Automaton can get some really interesting lines when you encounter The Mechanist it is truly one hilarious and fun side mission and makes the game worth playing
Great list! I was going to be upset that Wicked eyes and wicked hearts, from Dragon Age Inquisition wasn't on this list but then remembered that it is actually a main story mission. It is my favorite video game quest of all time.
That's actually my most hated quest ever. I love that game, but every time i try to replay it, when i get to that part i just dread it so much i stop playing.
How about "weirdest rpg tropes so disconnected from reality" like accidentally stealing a bottlecap, instantly alerting the owner and having the entire kingdom/city/ space station descend upon you with murderous rage
"But.... I just wanted to look at this fork, Mr. Guard person! It's so shiny and pretty! I can't go to the dungeon for nine months, I have to save the world!"
Oh man. I was trying so hard to play a completely good run on Skyrim. I accidently "stole" a log of firewood. No one saw me and I put it back immediately. From that moment on I had a "1" next to my items stolen Stat and it drove me nuts. Still salty about that lol
A list about most emotionally healing moments in video games would be pretty interesting. There's so many list about disturbing moments one about positive good for your psyche moments would be interesting.
My good man. From the ground up is one of my favorite side quests in recent years. You get this sense of you’re helping building a new part of this scarred world. Once you complete it, it becomes a renewed sense of hope that drives you to beat Ganon. Something that I hope more Open World games have, help building a new part of the world.
No Witcher 3??? A lot of those side quests were better written than some actual complete games. I couldn't even pick one because there are so many great ones. Honorable mentions (although both are DLC and not just random side quests) to Lair of the Shadow Broker and Citadel from the Mass Effect series. Both are wonderful for very different reasons.
Sooo many great side quests in the Witcher 3! I absolutely agree! I know it's not much of a quest, but the frying pan quest at the beginning made me laugh quite a bit. It was just so unexpected! Lol 😆 Hard to choose a favorite, though.
GWENT!!!! I'm ashamed to admit multitudes of towns and villagers suffered while I went from town to town like a Crack fiend looking for my next card game.
I remember these side quests from Mass Effect: Andromeda. They didn't seem like much, but if you pay attention, it really adds depth to the Kett. It's probably what they would have been if EA hadn't rushed them and meddling.
Fun Fact - In default Oblivion theres a bug with Who Done It were if you kill someone with a melee weapon they never catch on, even if you do it in front of them.
I can't agree more with Ranni's quest in Elden Ring. It just adds so much lore, takes you to so many places, gives you reasons to do things, and has several of the most memorable characters across the whole game. It feels like it was part of the main quest.
Speaking of content that feels mandatory: the loyalty missions in Mass Effect 2 are technically side quests. You are not required to do any of them (although skipping them will obviously have a dramatic effect in the finale), and they provide some of the best experiences in gaming. All of them are great, but I'd make special mention of Kasumi's heist and Samara's non-combat emotional gut-wrencher
I liked all of the loyalty missions throughout the series and how the consequences for doing them or even dialogue progresses to get you the true ending which with the remaster anthology was a lot less grindy then when I played them on the 360. The leviathan mission I also love as it felt less Sci fi inorganic horror and more I am a lovecraftian abomination that has existed far beyond the time you even know existed. I just ended up calling them cthulu pricks in my head over the years as i know the one we speak to is grandiose but I just immediately had the urge to have a dick measuring contest with him to say yeah well not many of you left huh maybe with some help you won't die out from this "tiny" being. I love how much of a dick we can make Shepard be though I'm usually paragon except for a couple or so moments .
Ghost of Tsushima’s character quest lines. The main story was amazing, but discovering each ally’s story and how the Mongolian invasion impacted their life beyond your own really made the experience of defeating the Mongols all the more powerful.
Seeing this video while I do work, and noticing that James put a video of José Feliciano next to Jules. Now I cannot stop hearing his version of "Feliz Navidad" in my head. Merry Christmas to all!
Okami should have been here, the reveal at the end is basically that all those side-quests were actually part of the main quest. In short: main quest: to defeat ultimate evil and regain all your lost god-powers side quests: helping random people with god powers (like a firework maker, a little girl, etc) Spoiler: In the final battle there a cutscene where it shows all the random people you help praying for your victory, and its those prayers that give you power to finally defeat the bbeg
Thank you so much Jules for your last sentence you put in every video at the end in these days of much sorrow they mean a lot and help me a lot thank you so much my favourite part of your videos always
JULEZ UR THE ABSOLUTE LEGEND MATE! 2 ideas for ya... 1. Best songs within video games ie one that sticks in my mind n I could listen to on a loop, is in the Witcher 3 when u enter a tavern to find a women (can't remember her name atm) and she sings and plays the ucalaley (sorry I realy can't spell but hope u got that lol) n it just blew me away the 1st time I heard it 2nd one is, music in video games that will get stuck in ur head for years... as any Final Fantasy fan will no.. for example in FF7 I can still hear clear as day the music when u go to plant ur 1st bomb then go into the fight n yeah both those tunes definitely stick in ur head forever lol I may edit later to put actual names n places to make more sense 😅
I've been watching you for a long time, Jules, and I love you! You've helped me through some really hard times in my life! That being said, I have a double whammy for you! 1. The most satisfying power creeps in gaming 2. The most op power spikes in gaming
I spend more time side questing than anything else. I'm currently playing Skyrim through for the 20th time or so. I have all the add-on content.... so I have taken Miraak out already, Harkon is gonna get it soon, and I have most of the Daedric stuff done. All this before even meeting Delphine to retrieve the horn for the greybeards. Yup... every, damn, time. Side quests are awesome and I look for side quest kitty as soon as I get control. True story. Stay golden Jules.
I love every video you appear in, i love the content but i'm always expecting the end of the video just to hear your kind messages. I love how you motivate us to not give up and to appreciate the awesome small things in life. You always make me smile at the end, thank you.
Precise moments in games where anything is possible. For example, when you first leave the vault in Fallout 3. Yes, you have "your quest", but you finally realise it's up to you if you want to. Also, any level designer in a game, such as Trials.
Ten of the most ludonarratively dissonant games. For example: Lara Croft murdering hundreds of people in gameplay, while being distraught in cutscenes. Geralt decrying thieves and burglars in conversations, then stealing every potato, butter knife and candelabra from every peasants house in gameplay... And, of course, the big one: dropping a quicksave as The Dragonborn then wiping out everyone in Whiterun for giggles, then reloading the game and carrying on as normal.
SMT 3 Nocturne, the Labyrinth of Amala, the hard dungeon that offers really amazing demons, the chance to get either Raidou or Dante (FLIPPING DANTE FROM DMC), and the True Demon Ending
As someone who just finished mafia 3 and loads of the trophies didn't pop. Can we have a list of games where bugs or glitches prevent you from platinums or make game choices pointless
Okay, the Silver Shroud quest is literally top of the line side material. The character I actually worked to actually play the game instead of modding for settlement building used every unique dialogue option while dressed as the Shroud, (he’ll never shed the costume, best armor in the game for so many reasons).
How about useless "Key" or "Quest" items/weapons in games. In other words, items that is integral in the game, but once it has been used to complete the quest, it becomes very useless for everyday or standard game/side quest use. But its there in your inventory forever that you can use at anytime. Keep up the great work.
I got two ideas if you are interested. 1) Video Games Better Than Their Source Material. Looking at video games that are based on stories made in books, comics, TV shows, and movies that turned out better than their source material. Examples from the top of my head are the Witcher Serries, Warriors, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, and Batman Arkham Series (when compared to the Orginal DC Comics and not other source material). 2) Games We Were Surprised Were Bad, But In Highnsight Shouldn't Have Been. Looking at video games we were sure were going to be amazing but looking back, we should have been skeptical that it was any good. Anthem and Mass Effect Andromeda is a good example for a lot of people were super hype and sold extremely well before getting buyers remorse. Games that they should have been skeptical of when leaks of people leaving during development, lack of gameplay footage, wonky gameplay, and the tightening of information released to the public.
The true beauty in "Vampire" in RDR2 is not to kill him. Tie him up, get him on horse (this can take a bit and horse does not want it), go to mini church away from city, somehow get him in church and drop on alter/cross... He dies - no shots fired.
list idea: Games that had no right to be this good. Explanation: games that should have been (or appeared to be) by the numbers or cookie cutters that turned out to be awesome. Basically you had an expectation and this game blew it away.
Do “times YOU failed to play accurate to lore” (ie neglecting mechanics to expand combo potential in DMC and not doing enough damage as a result, first order optimal strategy and/or thinking combos are free in Ninja Gaiden gives you a bayonet to the face, when you don’t pressure bosses hard enough in Sekiro and they regain posture)
Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC Fallout 3- Strictly Business Saints Row 2- Septic Avenger Saints Row 3- Tank Mayhem Mass Effect 2- All Squadmates Loyalty Quests (they are optional so they count) Shadow of War- Tribal Warbands & Showdowns One Piece Pirate Warriors 3- The Dream Log Valkyria Chronicles 4: Two Valkyria DLC Destroy All Humans 2- The Arkvoodl Cult South Park Stick of Truth- Jimbo's Hunting Quest South Park The Fractured but Whole: Bring the Crunch DLC Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves- Pirate Ship Challenge
I still need a ONE PER LIST shirt. Lol. Episode ideas: 1. Dead Franchises That Deserve a Resurrection (i.e. Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver, Jak & Daxter, Parasite Eve, etc.) 2. The Best Games Based on Books (not film or TV)
Here's an idea for a list: games so good (or so perfect) you didn't want them to end. Like, a lot of players love Skyrim so much they just continually add content to it because they want to keep playing the game forever. I felt this way for RE4 and RE5. I didn't want another game, just endless content for those games.
You missed a very important part of Who Done It. If you do things right in conversations when you get down to you and two npc's they'll both trust you so much they each think the other is the killer and will attack each other. That leaves you with an npc who's excited to split the treasure with you, until you stab them in the face of course.
Regarding Fallout 4, you forgot the murder mystery at the Far Harbour hotel inhabited by all the crazy robobrains. That was a huge amount of fun too; as was going through Dry Rock Gulch in Nuka-World as a yee-hawing deputy, or the haunted house...
RDR2 - Hamish, the one-legged civil war veteran has a few cool missions. I wouldn't say anything in the game is better than the main story, but those were some of the best side missions in the game.
It's been so long since someone mentioned "the game" that I didn't actually lose the game until Jules pointed it out lol that was so much fun back in the day
Just plain every Bethesda open world game could be on this list. Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, etc. The main quest of any of their games are nowhere near as good or interesting as the side stuff. The main quest in their games is always just an excuse to get you out there. Probably the only one that does this right is New Vegas since many of the side quests feed into the resolution of the main quest, so it's less of a side quest than an extension of the main quest. Which is how side quests should always work. No surprise since it wasn't developed by Bethesda.
Yes I love the quest "Who dun it" I have my game saved right in front of the mansion so when ever I want to play that quest again i can just load that save up again.
Another sidemission better than the base story would be: Hildebrandt questline in Final Fantasy XIV (A Realm Reborn, aka 2.0). It is almost as long as the base story and absolutely hilarious and a MUST play.
And I suggest games like Ps2 - Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy - sly - bully Ps1 - Hermie Hopperhead: Scrap Panic - Pink Panther: Pinkadelic Pursuit - Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed - Mega Man Legends
Video game quests that kick you when you're down. I submit for consideration the quest that Iji sends you on after you've completed most of Ranni's quest line. You know which one. My fiancée is crying now that I've told her about it.
I wish that the outer worlds made it onto some of these lists, while it’s a smaller game it has amazing dlc’s and extremely engaging side characters, not to mention the hella dystopian setting
Please, the one where you kill Valen Dreth is way better than Whodunnit, the catharsis factor of doing it with heavy amounts of chameleon enchantment and throwing his own words from the beginning of the game back to him... Perfection.
Next video - 10 franchises (comics, movies, TV, etc) that would make awesome modern video games (some may have had games made years ago, but nothing recent). Examples - Heroes, Irredeemable, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Pretty much all of the side quests in cyberpunk 2077 were better than the main quest but specifically the quest where you have to do a favor for the pop star was my favorite
Here's an idea Jules, the weirdest healing items in videogames.
Agreed, love me some zombie flesh in Minecraft....brrrrp.
Cool idea for sure !
I have two words... Green herb.
Any side scrolling beat ‘em up where you punch a trash can only to eat a full chicken that falls out and somehow get healthier.
VLDL.... drinking the health potion and eating the bottle. lol
My grandparents listened to, and gave me old "The Shadow" radio show recordings which I loved. I could not have loved the silver shroud side quest more for what I'm assuming is its influence from it.
@@cefalu63 Will do, thank you.
My grandparents used to make me lose The Game.
I loved the Silver Shroud mission in Fallout 4! Especially the over the top voice you could use and how npc's sometimes react to that 😂
That and I truly loved the radio drama;s you could listen to in that part of the city for Silver Shroud. :) and hey for what it's worth there is a lengthy follow up to that lil side story in Fallout 76 following the actress from those radio drama's with The Order Of Mysteries questline. :) or at least it felt like it.
Any side-quest is better than the main story in Fallout 4
OK, the laughing after "My dog died" is the BEST description of every FROM Software game. Well done.
That was spot on too.
Oh, man, the dark souls' creepy laugh 🤣🤣
@@Harvester88 lp
The Silver Shroud when mixed with the DLC The Automaton can get some really interesting lines when you encounter The Mechanist it is truly one hilarious and fun side mission and makes the game worth playing
I can confirm it. Also the Silver Shroud suit looks great.
Great list! I was going to be upset that Wicked eyes and wicked hearts, from Dragon Age Inquisition wasn't on this list but then remembered that it is actually a main story mission. It is my favorite video game quest of all time.
My man, political intrigue is lovely, but that time limit sucked 😂
yeah that’s a super fun quest
That's actually my most hated quest ever. I love that game, but every time i try to replay it, when i get to that part i just dread it so much i stop playing.
How about "weirdest rpg tropes so disconnected from reality" like accidentally stealing a bottlecap, instantly alerting the owner and having the entire kingdom/city/ space station descend upon you with murderous rage

Still salty about that lol
Top Ten Bosses Jules can defeat if he was magically sucked into a video game.
Top Ten bosses I could defeat if I was magically sucked off in a video game
Do this man's request so he can stop being the top comment!
Thanks Jules. Made it a whole 2 and a half years without losing “The Game”. Cheers mate!
A list about most emotionally healing moments in video games would be pretty interesting.
There's so many list about disturbing moments one about positive good for your psyche moments would be interesting.
a lot of "chrono trigger" would fall under that. most memorable for me was saving luca's mom
I was hoping to see Kafei's sidequest in Majora's Mask. I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but its a real emotional rollercoaster.
❤
My good man. From the ground up is one of my favorite side quests in recent years. You get this sense of you’re helping building a new part of this scarred world. Once you complete it, it becomes a renewed sense of hope that drives you to beat Ganon. Something that I hope more Open World games have, help building a new part of the world.
I was kind of upset when i hogged tied the vampire in the rdr2, took him to the beach, and waited for hours for the sun to rise for nothing to happen.
Damn good one never thought of that it would be amazing if he would've burned up.

GWENT!!!! I'm ashamed to admit multitudes of towns and villagers suffered while I went from town to town like a Crack fiend looking for my next card game.
Totally agree. The Blood Baron alone is better than a lot of complete games.
I remember these side quests from Mass Effect: Andromeda. They didn't seem like much, but if you pay attention, it really adds depth to the Kett. It's probably what they would have been if EA hadn't rushed them and meddling.
Honestly the sheer fact that you can just go to movie night with your crew...
Fun Fact - In default Oblivion theres a bug with Who Done It were if you kill someone with a melee weapon they never catch on, even if you do it in front of them.
I always liked replacing the sweetrolls on the table with poison apples. You can get around 2 or 3 of them that way.
i always love doing the masako tales in ghost of tsushima, so emotionally heavy and some proper fun fights! including that brilliant boss fight.
Thank you so much for the love guys! Thank you Jules, James and James lovely lady whose name has left me atm. LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!

Ghost of Tsushima’s character quest lines. The main story was amazing, but discovering each ally’s story and how the Mongolian invasion impacted their life beyond your own really made the experience of defeating the Mongols all the more powerful.

Jules, thank you for the way you end your videos. We all need it sometimes. My suggestion is "Best remastered/remade/reimagined games"
I have an idea : the most scariest enemies in video games
Okami should have been here, the reveal at the end is basically that all those side-quests were actually part of the main quest. In short:
main quest: to defeat ultimate evil and regain all your lost god-powers
side quests: helping random people with god powers (like a firework maker, a little girl, etc)
Spoiler:
In the final battle there a cutscene where it shows all the random people you help praying for your victory, and its those prayers that give you power to finally defeat the bbeg
I had completely forgotten about 'the game' for at least 5yrs. The moment you mentioned it I felt betrayed... Lol.
Thank you so much Jules for your last sentence you put in every video at the end

10 video game knockoffs that were actually pretty good
JULEZ UR THE ABSOLUTE LEGEND MATE!
2 ideas for ya...
1. Best songs within video games ie one that sticks in my mind n I could listen to on a loop, is in the Witcher 3 when u enter a tavern to find a women (can't remember her name atm) and she sings and plays the ucalaley (sorry I realy can't spell but hope u got that lol) n it just blew me away the 1st time I heard it
2nd one is, music in video games that will get stuck in ur head for years... as any Final Fantasy fan will no.. for example in FF7 I can still hear clear as day the music when u go to plant ur 1st bomb then go into the fight n yeah both those tunes definitely stick in ur head forever lol
I may edit later to put actual names n places to make more sense 😅
I've been watching you for a long time, Jules, and I love you! You've helped me through some really hard times in my life! That being said, I have a double whammy for you!
1. The most satisfying power creeps in gaming
2. The most op power spikes in gaming
I feel like we were missing the bloody baron quest line from the witcher 3 on this list
Feel spoilt getting a birthday tues your own adventure, awesome one again guys
I had no idea how much i missed jazz , until i see her randomly in Tues your own adventure like an Easter egg , stay elegant and stay classy queen
Right?!
My fave is when she walked into shot and screamed and then it just cut away and didn't address it. xD
Oblivion's "Who Done It?" quest was amazing. Absolutely hilarious fucking with the characters
FROM THE GROUND UP IS MY FAVORITE SIDE QUEST OF ALL TIME
Tarry Town is amazing. Hope it's in part 2.
Guilty pleasure games people love (but they'd never admit it to their mates)
I love every video you appear in, i love the content but i'm always expecting the end of the video just to hear your kind messages. I love how you motivate us to not give up and to appreciate the awesome small things in life. You always make me smile at the end, thank you.
I love that you always appreciate every human being. You lift us all up and always wish each of us the best. For that You are a Legend! 💪😉

Love the channel and content, well done and thank you. How about marmite game/characters, those divisive "you either love them or hate them" ones?
Top games that died instantly upon release
I still want a video of every Jules’ one per lists. I’m sorry, I know I’m old, but his “your mum” jokes tickled me every time.
Ten of the most ludonarratively dissonant games. For example:
Lara Croft murdering hundreds of people in gameplay, while being distraught in cutscenes.

lara’s only distraught in the 2013 one right? after that she’s much more comfortable with killing
Man u have no idea how many times I have sold Ciri only to reload save and pretend to be best Dad
Hell yeah for putting my favourite game The Warriors on here, I still beat it once a year and pray for a remaster.
I'm here for the one per list, bring it back!
5:12 I love how this is actually canon. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Who _wouldn't_ want to get married to a cutie like Ranni?
The Atomites quest line in FO4 and it matter after the quest is concluded (into far harbor for example) is absolutely my favourite bit
Just started Yakuza 0 and you absolutely nail it. Non stop amazing mini games.
Okay, the Silver Shroud quest is literally top of the line side material. The character I actually worked to actually play the game instead of modding for settlement building used every unique dialogue option while dressed as the Shroud, (he’ll never shed the costume, best armor in the game for so many reasons).
That bloody laugh from dark souls!! Jules, that was THE best impersonation!! About had me dieing with laughter!! 🤣🤣🤣
How about useless "Key" or "Quest" items/weapons in games.
In other words, items that is integral in the game, but once it has been used to complete the

Ranni's questline is really good!
The fact the card game from FF8 was not listed is an oversight!
Jules is the king. Keep it up.

dang love the message at thend, once again - go out an have a fun side quest people!
Your beard is looking gloriously lush Jules! Always enjoy your videos!
I will always respect how Jules covers his bad hosting by addressing it in the intro💜 No sarcasm meant here. It's hard
Hey Jules!! What about bad guys or side characters more interesting than the “hero” character??
*thinks about Loghain from Fable 3 and DAO*
List Idea: Absurd Hidden Endings in Games. (e.g. Wandersong’s Bad Ending)
Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC
Fallout 3- Strictly Business
Saints Row 2- Septic Avenger
Saints Row 3- Tank Mayhem
Mass Effect 2- All Squadmates Loyalty Quests (they are optional so they count)
Shadow of War- Tribal Warbands & Showdowns
One Piece Pirate Warriors 3- The Dream Log
Valkyria Chronicles 4: Two Valkyria DLC
Destroy All Humans 2- The Arkvoodl Cult
South Park Stick of Truth- Jimbo's Hunting Quest
South Park The Fractured but Whole: Bring the Crunch DLC
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves- Pirate Ship Challenge
Longest games in Early Access (that actually got finished and not just abandoned).
Can you do “10 hardest weapons to obtain but wasn’t worth it”?
Hey Jules you massive Legend
What about best hard to get to or secret areas in videogames to just hang out for some R&R
I still need a ONE PER LIST shirt. Lol.
Episode ideas:
1. Dead Franchises That Deserve a Resurrection (i.e. Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver, Jak & Daxter, Parasite Eve, etc.)
I didn't want another game, just endless content for those games.
parasite eve was that way for me. diablo 2 LOD v1.9 too.
assassins creed 3 homestead missions are sum of most heartfelt content from the franchises
It's been so long since someone mentioned "the game" that I didn't actually lose the game until Jules pointed it out lol that was so much fun back in the day
"What's he on about" "I don't know" That made me giggle.
The Elder Scrolls: each game. It doesn't break the one per list if it's the whole series.
That's a great ending message man.
Yes I love the quest "Who dun it" I have my game saved right in front of the mansion so when ever I want to play that quest again i can just load that save up again.
Slight correction to LoZ BotW’s From the Ground Up; you’re not rebuilding a town, you’re helping build a whole new town from scratch.
Welcome back James and Jazz you have been missed
Side kicks/partners/squad mates that kick more ass than the main character
Another sidemission better than the base story would be:
Hildebrandt questline in Final Fantasy XIV (A Realm Reborn, aka 2.0).
It is almost as long as the base story and absolutely hilarious and a MUST play.

Top Ten Video Game Songs
All ten entries are the Soul Blade intro tune.

10 Best cutscenes in video game history
Please, the one where you kill Valen Dreth is way better than Whodunnit, the catharsis factor of doing it with heavy amounts of chameleon enchantment and throwing his own words from the beginning of the game back to him...
Perfection.
Next video - 10 franchises (comics, movies, TV, etc) that would make awesome modern video games (some may have had games made years ago, but nothing recent). Examples - Heroes, Irredeemable, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Grappler Baki
Pretty much all of the side quests in cyberpunk 2077 were better than the main quest but specifically the quest where you have to do a favor for the pop star was my favorite
