Wonderful video William, I'm going to buy this book at the moment I'm just concentrating on Copperplate but it's nice to broaden horizons. Thankyou very much for your in depth view of the book

I really enjoyed your reviews for the books "Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy" by Eleanor Winters, and this one for Marc Drogin's "Medieval Calligraphy: Its History and Technique". I like your voice and your honesty; it made me chuckle ~ I, too, tried taking a shortcut in creating guidelines...☺lesson learned. I own these two books, and I love them!
So, in this video, you wondered if you'd correctly pronounced the words "littera [lee TEH rra]" and "bastarda [bas TARR dah]"...you did, just roll your Rs a little, and you'll be perfect. It's why I put two RRs, as a phonetic guide; the capitals signify that that syllable is stressed. The words are Latin...as am I :) The word "Uncial" is pronounced [UN shul]. I'll be checking out your Jane Sullivan "Calligraphy" review next. I look forward to more of your informative and entertaining reviews.

the atrocious pronunciation made my eye twitch a bit. but good review none-the-less.

Why do you mispronounce “uncial” so badly? First, the “i” is AFTER the “c.” And the “c” is not a /k/ sound. The word i pronounced “UHNT-seeyuhl.” You’d think someone as schooled as you are in calligraphy would know this

@@danielhughes441 yes you’re right and in later videos I put that right, thanks for commenting. It’s hard sometimes to pronounce words for me because I’m dyslexic but working on it.
