- Vacations can get pretty expensive, but in the town of Lahaina on the island of Maui, Hawaii you can enjoy lots of free attractions and cheap eats. Amigo's Mexican Restaurant in Lahaina has won Best Mexican(Taco) Food on Maui for 11yrs in a row. Go with a proven winner, colder beer, 3 homemade salsas, 3-6 happy hour, $3 tecate's all day, and the best Chili Verde west of the I-5.
Lahaina is a must see stop. The history is the key.

If you really want to vacation cheaply try visiting any of the all inclusive resorts in Cancun,Mexico. It also has exotic islands nearby!

be CAREFULL with Travelocity ... set all services to make the custumer paid double for many services ... I did paid double for luggage and stop in some airports the long stay over ...make me paid double ....so check before do any reservation ...

Ken Lin Well at least spend a little nothing wrong with frugal traveling. Last time I was in Big Island I spent a few dollars and I had a blast. I did went to see the dancing lua and i drank so much of the mai tai (free)...lol one of the crew picked me to dance with them at the stage.

Don't go to ohana tacos. The tacos were bad and the service to match. Went there this past July per this review. Horrible recommendation.
Forgot to mention. In the same plaza there a restaurant for fair price is great! It's called Fish Market. Awesome service and food is ono. Trust me on this. I went there at least 5x on my trip. Fresh fish.
I been going to Ohana every since They had a food truck in the same parking lot and never had a problem. You must have gone on a bad day.

Just got home from a week in Lahaina. The banyan tree sucks. You can't sit and enjoy it because of the millions of flies and crazy homeless people sleeping all over the benches. Front Street is full of face cream sales people luring tourists into their store by handing them free samples of their over priced facial creams. Front Street is a tourist trap and I advise anyone going there to have your guard up at all times and refuse anything anyone tries to hand you for "free". You're welcome.

Eathan Downes I was stationed on Oahu for 3 years while in the U.S. Navy and have always been an avid fisherman and spear-fisherman. Ono does mean "delicious" or good to eat, but Ono (as the Hawaiians call it) IS a fish. Some mainland Americans or (haoles) call it a Wahoo. It is a beautiful fish that is fun to catch and "ono (delicious), braddah!" when you eat it! It IS a fish- do your research.
