We've been to Maui many times, and have walked up and down Front Street at least one time during every visit. Have sat under the banyan tree having a snack and a drink. It's hard to comprehend the devastation from the fire. I can only hope the people of Lahaina are made whole and can once again enjoy their homes in the beautiful place.
Keep the videos coming! We love Maui and have visited yearly for 35+ years pre-fire. We love the Plantation Inn and it’s hard to imagine Lahaina in its current state.
Sorry we missed seeing the videos that you were forced to take down. Hopefully you can repost soon.
My sympathy to you all❤ It’s been 5.5yrs since the Camp Fire in Paradise Ca & I am going to move into my rebuilt house next month. It’s been a long haul but with help from wonderful people it is happening. Be patient & love one another❤️
Some of us are still stuck in Gridley Ca. , from the Paradise fire! seeing it repeated in other areas is so sad!
Shaking my head in disbelief. Mahalo for doing this video. As a Brit who loves Hawaii and has visited 7 times. To see this breaks my heart.
I truly hope the people that lost loved ones and homes etc are coping . It must be so hard. Aloha.
We were there a few months before the fire, it's still so hard to process that it is no longer there...We have spent much time over the last 30 years...Thank you for keeping us updated I really appreciate your videos.
Thank you for taking the time to film and post these updates!
Your so welcome my dude!
@@khunopie9159 We concur with that "thank you" for posting the video. Your presentation pointing out the locations and landmarks was excellent. Seeing this video was both encouraging and saddening. We have walked these streets many times over the years and have always had special feelings for Lahaina. We all hope for the best during and after this clean up period.
I appreciate the delicate balance you presented, from the original beauty, through the horrible devastation, and on to hope for the future. Nicely done.
Watching this with tears in my eyes. Back in the 80’s and 90’s , my friends and I built many of the homes and businesses on Front St. We built Bob and Gail Longhi’s home, his son’s home and remodeled the restaurant. Also many other art galleries, restaurants and homes there. All are completely gone … so sad. Our hearts ache for the people of Maui. I lived there for years and they are some of the best memories I have. No matter what is rebuilt, it will never be as beautiful as the old Lahaina. Maui no ka oi!
My heart breaks for you. 😢
Thank you and God bless the people of Maui, Hawaii.
Jesse, as a former resident of Lahaina, I can’t Thank You enough for all of your Amazing Updates!! God Bless You and please continue to do your Amazing work!! The videos are emotional to watch and yet allowing the world a glimpse into the progress being made into this tragedy. The before and after pics are particularly appreciated!! Mahalo Nui Loa for ALL you do!!!
Thanks for your support.
Thank you Jesse, 😊for all of your updates, so other people can enjoy Lahaina town, as well as the people who live there full time.
Thank you Jesse. This helps to understand the devastation.
I went through the terrible LNU fire 2020 in California. The Maui fire has given me much PTSD. This video has given me much healing. I fully understand the timeline and I greatly appreciate knowing what's been done and seeing the progress. Those that have not been through this type of event expect everything to turn around in a week or a month and that's not going to happen. This process is at least a 3-year project. Everyone hang in there, we will all get through this together. Thank you very much for these video updates They are uplifting.
Back in the 70s I had a sailboat in Lahaina harbor and lived up in Napili. I had so many wonderful moments in Lahaina. I loved sitting under the banyan tree or grabbing breakfast on the patio at the Pioneer Inn. Cooking my own Mahi in their restaurant is another treasured memory. Walking down front street and window shopping, especially with friends from the mainland was awesome. It has been decades since I had to move back to the mainland but as I watched Lahaina burn on TV I just cried and cried. Thanks for this update, it gives me hope.
Thank you for your strength, courage & honor while filming and informing people of the progress. 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for these videos! I am a Native Californian that has been coming to Maui since in was 12 years old… I am now quite a few decades older than that… but my heart has felt the love of these island’s since then, and always will….My husband and I spent our Honeymoon there, Renewed our Wedding vows there, have brought our children there, and now our grandchildren. There as well! Maui will always be in our heart & soul…keep the video’s coming!
Thank you for keeping us updated on the progress in Lahaina. We have so many memories of vacationing there.
The devastation is so similar to what we experienced through the Camp Fire that nearly destroyed Paradise, CA on 8 Nov 2018. It's been 5 years and the town is recovering but many scars - emotional, physical and historic - remain. Best wishes in your recovery and having hope for the future.
Same happened to Blue River Oregon and Detroit Oregon in the 2020 fires. Even google maps used it as an opportunity to make blue river oregon show up not on the blue river or in the town, but on a random spot of the mckenzie river 10 mins upstream. It was a town on the map until that fire and google immediately changed the towns location

Lahaina DEW. The AF code name ARSON 1 and China satellite DEW that destroyed Lahaina. The Guard supported AF with air to air refueling. Sadly, Joke Biden and China Xi did this for ‘Competition and not Conflict.’ No one was expected to die, and Green was instructed to evacuate Lahaina City orderly, and the newly appointed police chief blundered and caused confusion; many perished. Green goofed badly, not knowing what he approved went back to sleep. Evidence of pinpoint accuracy of targets was arranged. Joke Biden beat China Xi and their weapons of destruction DEW accuracy was coordinated to see who can hit their targets. Joke Biden beat China Xi satellite DEW.
Friend grew up in Paradise. Said it was devastating to so many. 😢 This is all so crazy.
These are so appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to do this.. our hearts are still with the people of Maui.. I hope that some of those historical buildings can be restored
I can't tell you how much I value these videos. Thank you for taking the time.
Thank you so much for constantly doing your part to inform the public on what’s been going on… this whole situation is so beyond devastating, there are not enough words in the English language to capture the pain the fires have caused :(
We’ve stayed at the RC Kapalua 5x over the last 20 yrs… glad we were able to share the past Maui experience w/ our children and hopefully we can revisit once the restoration has completed
Really appreciate the time you have taken to put together these videos! So devastating! Must be difficult for the men and women involved in the clean up! Bless them always!
The comeback of Lahaina is going to be one for the history books! God bless Maui.
I agree!
Go Maui 😎!
Mahalo for the visual update. Lived in Lahaina for 7+ years. So sad, so grateful.
Thank you for doing these videos. Weve been visiting every year for 20 years and Lahaina feels like a very dear old friend. We were just there but couldn’t see the condition of our loved places. The devastation we did see broke my heart and the stories of survival we heard were so traumatic. Our hearts and our prayers are with everyone there.
So very grateful to you, Jesse, for continuing to provide us with these fact-based, non-political, updates. Those of us who love Hawaii but are not residents . . . our hearts continue to go out to you all.
Mahalo for these updates! IT still brings tears to my eye's.
I will never get over the devastation. It still seems impossible. We have been visiting Maui for 20 years and it’s our 2nd home. We know every inch of lahaina town and loved it and the people. We were supposed to be there a week after the fire. We have planned a trip in August. I wasn’t sure I could go. We have friends and family to see so we will make the trip but I’m dreading driving the highway and seeing everything. The mana is so strong in Hawaii. I know it will heal. ❤️❤️❤️☀️☀️☀️🌺🌺🌺
Me too Been going for 30 years - can’t bring myself to go back yet so sad I know I’ll cry a lot trip planned for September 2024 but I may change my mind
Those of you that love Maui and love Lahaina Town, they still desperately need volunteers at the resource centers. If you come please please consider using a half a day every day to do the work needed to keep distributing food, clothing, supplies to our people. It will lift your heart and feed your soul and theirs too.
How can it heal when the monzterz responsible are still running things? You think it was a one hit deal? No. The monsters are planning a whole lot more satanyst offences. Taking of lands, theft of homes, businesses, rights, and more. And they are not planning on letting up, that I can see. Where are the sheriffs and why are they not doing their OBLIGATED DUTY?
Everyone on island is still in shock. We were there Jan-Feb, and volunteered some reluef work. It hurts the heart to see the town devastated like this. But Hawaiians are resilient; keep ohana close, talk story, and spend as much $ locally as possible. Lahaina will return...changed, but still the ❤️ of Maui.
I've have passed over Hawaii but been everywhere else
Thank you so much for sharing this. It’s good to see progress being made. Thanks!
Thank you again for this update. I really appreciate it. I hope to get back to Maui as soon as it makes sense--sounds like sometime in 2026. I am impressed that they have cleared 25% of the properties and also so pleased that they are using local workers as a large part of their cleanup crew.
Seeing the after and then the before brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing and thanks for your work.
Excellent work Jesse. Thank you.
I’ve been watching your videos thanks for the updates!
Thank you for this video. I just returned from Lahaina/Napili on Monday. The people there are so kind and friendly. I'm glad progress has been made thus far but in my opinion it's not enough. I met so many displaced locals who are still struggling to re-establish themselves. The response by local, state and federal government has been sickening, especially the federal government. The community there needs more help. Badly.
Thank you so much for making this video. ❤
Thanks, Jesse. This drive was so helpful to me and really put things in perspective. I am grateful for your kind, thoughtful, and informative presentation. Thank you for ending this trip with a look back before the fire. I too, can't wait to stroll down Front Street again. Aloha
Lahaina is my home away from home. This is difficult to watch but the way you presented it gives me home that it won’t be too long before we too are walking this streets. Thank you for your awesome work.
Thank you for providing these videos, and for the explanations. Very helpful.
Visited Lahaina for the first time in 2018 (from Oahu) and loved what the town had to offer. I remember parking at the lot on the south side and having a stroll down the street looking for magnets, and having shave ice. Breaks my heart that this happened to the people and community. Come back stronger than ever before Lahaina , God bless ❤
Thanks for the update!
Thank you for the update and brings❤to all the people that live there and lots everything. ❤❤❤
A very heartfelt and honest assessment and retrospective of the heartbreaking losses but optimism going forward. Thank you.
Thank you. There are no words...
My family and I were so very fortunate to come October before the fire. it’s heartbreaking having to see not only the damaged area but how unrecognizable it is now. My heart goes out to all the Lahaina fire victims. ❤ Maui Strong 💪🏻
Thank you Jesse for this video it is wonderful progress is being made God bless all of you
Thank you Jesse. Your work is very informative, thanks for sending these videos. Keep up the good work!!
Thanks for the update.
Great video Jesse. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Its crushing for people like myself who visited many times to see the destruction but for locals as yourself, it must be extremely difficult. Looking forward to seeing what Maui does to bring the town back to life.
Thank you for the updates Jesse! I just break out in tears when I watched this one. I love Maui and Lahaina and have traveled there consistently for over 35 years. I was there in December and just devastated with the damage, or at least what I was able to see. My heart and prayers go out to the people of Maui and Lahaina, and the families and friends who lost loved ones. God bless you all. I look forward to your updates and Thank you! God bless you too man!
So much love and care you give !! Thank you
Thanks for documenting the progress. Mahalo
Thank you for the excellent report and update.
Thank you for sharing this video. Also thank you for informing others of the progress on the cleanup that is taking place.
Jesse, as a many time visitor of Lahaina Town, I really appreciate the updates you have posted of this great Community. I know the videos are “only 12-13 minutes” but the work you put into each recording, editing and narration takes many more hours. Mahalo for all you do. Hope to visit Maui in 2024 and the videos are inspiring for all of those who love the community.
Thank you for sharing this video with us. I'm looking forward to future videos on the progress of healing and rebuilding Lahaina. I just subscribed.
Jesse, So good to have you help us see this. Gut wrenching, to say the least. We had a condo in Lahaina that is now ashes. But we hope it’s available to have what we once had. The fact that the banyan tree survived gives us hope that we can see it all anew again soon. Mahalo and Aloha. ❤❤
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
Thank you for posting this vid. It brings me to tears.
Thank you, Jesse, for providing us with the current video of Lahaina town, specifically Front Street. I have enjoyed walking Front Street repeatedly in the past 8 years. We have a timeshare in West Maui and every day we are there, our first stop is Front Street. I'd sit under the Banyan tree and people-watch! It was great fun and now, I'll never be able to walk on Front Street like it was before. So sad!
Progress is definitely being made, and I, too, am excited to see the new Lahaina taking shape. Thank you so much for keeping us informed of the slow changes that are proceeding, and I think you do a wonderful job of sharing hope with this 🌺
Thanks for the update
Thanks again for another great informative video! You're doing such a good job of documenting the recovery of Lahaina!!
Thank you for the video it's heartbreaking...
Thank you for an excellent update - sad & uplifting at the same time. It looks like the rebuild is some 4 or 5 years away to completion but these videos are very instructive. Lahaina was THE reason I came to Hawaii.
Thank you so much for the constant updates of one of our favorite places on earth!
Thank you so much for the video very enlightening
I appreciate all of your hard work to keep those of us who love Maui & historic Lahaina town updated. I have been there many times. Many lunches at Kimo’s! I am heartsick to see the aftermath of the horrific fire. I am glad however to see all the progress being made to clean up & glad so much of the work is being done by the beautiful people of Maui. The sprit of Aloha will never fade! God bless the people & the hard work being done to restore Lahaina.
Thank you for the updated drive by. We were there in April 2021, and my heart still aches for the people of Lahaina!! To see the sights we spent time exploring along Front Street, as well as the dining venues all gone, breaks my heart, tears flowing as I type this. I hope the town is rebuilt as a testament to the Aloha Spirit, and not commercialized like another Strip Mall found on the Mainland.
Great videos! You're the best.
Love your updates…sharing information with friends and praying for a complete recovery of everything that was lost…🙏…Blessings to Lahaina from Canada 🇨🇦
Excellent video and narration, thanks.
The video stabilization is amazing when we can clearly see the vehicle hood bouncing on the street.
Well done.
Thank you for this video. You always give an honest, respectful and unbiased perspective of the situation in Lahaina. It is appreciated more than you know.
8 months later and it still breaks my heart.
But plenty of money for Zelensky.
Oh my goodness this is devastating!! My family and I were there just a couple of years ago and it was so beautiful!! I know it will be again. Thank you so much for this video. West Maui is my happy place and I look forward to coming back! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Thank you and keep the videos coming. We visited/stayed near Lahaina on most of our 15 or so trips to Maui. We love Lahaina/Maui/Hawaii and hope to be coming back again many times to the rebuilt Lahaina.
Thank you for your support of Lahaina!
Thank you!
Jesse, thank you so much for these videos. I lived in Lahaina back in the 70s, and have visited several times since. It feels like part of me is missing
Thank you for the updates. Lahaina has always had a special place in my heart. Many good memories of Captain Jack's and everything on Front Street. Praying for a semblance of recovery. Can't wait to come back someday.
Thanks! Amazing videos! Thanx so much for these. I just left after being there for a week. So sad, but so encouraging to see the progress. Please keep us informed.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks, Jesse. Tears welled in my eyes as I watched this, but it brought me joy at the end to be reminded of what once was.
Thank you for putting your time towards this and helping others understand what's going on. You are deeply appreciated. God bless you.
MAUI STRONG ❤❤❤❤ ALOHA
Very nice and respectful. Thank you. So sorry for the loss to the community.
Thanks for this inciteful video!
Thanks for posting. I lived in Lahaina in the '70's and then again in the late '80's. Sad how it got so obliterated....
Great video. I used to live in Crossroads Apartments at 767 Luakini St.
Thanks for all the good news!
Great video! thanks!
Mahalo for your time and efforts on this video. Sure brings back many memories and hopefully will be rebuilt soon. Aloha
Thank you for the video update. After nearly two dozen trips to the island over the years, I'm still stunned at the damage. I have a close friend who lives in town.
So sad. Such a tremendous loss for so many people. Thank you for the video.
🌺Thank you brother for the update. I'm from Huntington beach CA and I always made my way back to Lahaina once a year. I was there in March 2023. I bought a pair of Maui Jim's on Front St. I treasure them now. My prayers go out for the people of Lahaina❤
So many memories. My eyes were tearing up. I do appreciate your ending with a couple of minute video showing what I so strongly remember.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Appreciate your video ! Remember celebrating my birthday at Luau at 505 Front Street. Looking forward to future videos.
Mahalo. Watching this breaks my heart. I continue to pray for the community and hope that one day Lahaina will be full of life once more. May the Lord give every one strength to keep focus on rebuilding 🙏🙏🙏We will come back to visit again.
Our love ❣️ From San Francisco California.
Aloha
Thank you so much for sharing these updates with us. My heart breaks for you and the other residents of this magical place. My husband and I enjoyed Lahaina town a few times and it held a special place in our hearts. We planned on visiting again, but cancer took my love in December of ‘22. I have two lovely photos of the beaches around Maui that we purchased from a local artist outside of the courthouse. I will always treasure them and the beautiful memories of your town. Mahalo
Thank you for making this video. This is absolutely heartbreaking. I used to love walking up and down Front Street. This video really showed how it's all just ashes now. I just can't imagine how the locals must feel,... especially those who lost loved ones in the fire.
I used to live in Maui until late January of this year and my grandma used to live in Front ST apartments (the apartments on the other side of the street of Kahoma at 10:19) and seeing them like that breaks my heart because I spent half of my childhood there
Very well done - thank you.
Thank you for the update. It breaks my heart to be reminded of the devastation. I have many beautiful memories of Lahaina.
Thank you for sharing this. Lahaina was our favorite place to be on Maui. Our first trip there, we stayed at the Pioneer Inn.
Nice work. Thank you. A million memories with family in Lahaina Town.
