    Seems a lot of people are confused so let me try to explain: When a map drops, it chooses from only completed maps and connected maps to drop. So in a fresh atlas, when you are doing T1s, you can only drop maps connected to that T1, which would include T2s but not T3s or higher. If the T1 boss was going to drop a T3 map but you don't have any completed, you'll just bank some map equity, which is not as good this early on because equity doesn't help you sustain higher tiers at this phase. But if you complete a single T3, all of your T1 maps that would now drop a T3 have a valid drop target. Yes they will all be the same T3 map you just completed but that's what 3-for-1 vendor and horizon orbs are for.
    Basically, when we traditionally run all lower tiers before higher tiers, the vast majority of those lower tiers just end up banking equity, which means you get even more of the lower tiers (which keeps you lower on the atlas). This is because that T5 map can't drop when you kill the T3 boss because you don't have any valid T5 map drops yet. But if you staircase it like how he explained, you will always have a valid X+2 drop whenever you run X (if X is the lower tier map you go back to). You still want to run maps for completion (so don't repeat maps unless you have to). But by reordering that completion this way, you maximize your chances of dropping the higher tier maps.

      TL;DR would be
      1) Run tier 1 map, get tier 2 map
      2) Run tier 2 map, get tier 3 map
      3) Run tier 3 map, thus allowing it to drop from tier 1 maps.
      4) Go back and run all tier 1 maps
      5) Run tier 4 map, then go back to tier 2 maps, all tier 2 bosses will drop that tier 4 map you cleared
      6) Repeat until completion

    "Map bosses can drop a +2 (+3 if you run your maps corrupted and doesn't have to be completed) so make sure whatever tier you're running that you have completed a map that is 2 tiers higher if possible" is what I have always preached and said as the most important thing in Atlas progression. In essence this is the "top to bottom" as you would complete the highest tier map so you can find them as +2s when getting more completions done, but many people missed out on what's the main reason for running those high tier maps early.
    You did a good job presenting the core strat in a short video even though you did miss out mentioning that corruption enables even a +3 that isn't completed. I think you could've spend a tiny bit more time explaining (and showing a picture to accompany that) why you should complete the T3 map instead of T2 despite not having a T5 available from that T3. For us it's obvious it's the adjacent maps but I think you glanced over that a bit too much.

      W8.... this is totally new info to me! (played since closed beta btw)... Are you saying that If you run the very first t11 you get after having corrupted it to get the bonus, then the boss CAN drop up to a t14? Even if you have not yet completed a t12, t13 or a t14?
      Presumably this also works for a t1 map then, but i guess most ppl don't start corrupting maps until t11 for the bonus objective...

    • @Karvarousku
      @Karvarousku 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Meisen1977 If you run a T11, and have T13 map unlocked (so the boss can naturally drop a +2 that you have available), then if boss drops corrupted loot (via being corrupted map or something else), that can corrupt the T13, turning it to a T14. This cannot happen if you don't have a T13 that would drop in the first place.

    Okay, POE noob here trying to make sure I understand this:
    Once you're at maps, you run maps you prefer until you get to a tier 3 map drop. Immediately play that map, then go and complete a lot of the tier 1 maps/bonus objectives. Once you do that, you should have a lot of tier 2 and 3s. You play 3s that you prefer until you get a tier 4 drop, at which point you'll play that map. Then you'll go down to tier 2s and complete a lot of those and their bonus objectives. Then after you have a lot of tier 3s and 4s, play 4s that you prefer until you get a map 5 drop. Complete that tier 5, then go back down and complete tier 3s. Repeat until at tier 16.
    Correct? Also do you complete literally all/the majority of the maps two tiers lower, or just a decent amount of them?

    • @BWBSoldya
      @BWBSoldya ปีที่แล้ว +6

      As I understand it the beginning is a bit different. So how I understand it is as follows; For t1 and t2 you pick 1 map out of each tier you like and you run exclusively that map. The other t1's and t2's you do not run. So in 3.21 we'll have Bone Crypt, Scriptorium, Alleyways and Colonnade in t1. Say you like Colonnade the best, cool. You get to maps and you run your colonnade's and only the colonnades. As soon as a T2 drops however, you run that T2. Say Silo is your first T2 drop. You then run Silo and only Silo maps. You do that until you get a T3 map, say strand is your first t3 drop, you run your strand map and once you completed that, THEN you can go back and complete the other T1 maps you have not completed yet. You can then run any T1 map you want, but you can still only run Silo as your T2 because that's what you got completed. Then when a t4 map drops, let's say fields, you run the fields and then you can back and complete the other T2's if you want until you drop a T5, after which you can complete all t3's, and so on and so forth.
      So to sum up:
      1. Pick a T1 you like; Run it and only it until you drop a T2
      2. Run that T2 map, after which you can either run your chosen T1 map OR the T2 map you just completed, don't run any other T1's or T2's.
      3. Run those until you drop a T3
      4. Run that T3 map, after that you can now run any of the T1 maps OR the T2 map you have completed OR the T3 map you have completed, no other maps
      5. Until a T4 drops, you run the T4 after which you can run any of the T1 maps, any of the T2 maps, the ONLY T3 map you have completed OR the ONLY T4 you have completed, no other maps.
      6. ????
      7. Apparently, profit

    always do bottom-up strat but might try diagonal next time. bottom-up just kinda makes sense to me because im not actively racing, i need to run every map for completion anyway, and the slow build up makes map sustain super easy and makes my character ready for higher tier content. But I do see value in mapping faster so unlock void stones and going back and getting completion from those maps which are now a much higher tier.

    • @Rrezz
      @Rrezz ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You wouldn't, map bosses drop maps 2 tiers higher only if you've done a map 2 tiers higher already. So if your highest map is a T3 you can only drop T4 maps, that's why you don't run T2's because they would only drop T3 maps. But once you do a T4 your T2's will now drop T4's.
      The whole point of this strategy is that your always doing maps with the intent to either progress your atlas +1 or your doing maps 2 tiers lower than your current highest map to force +2's.
      So if you only had T1, T2 and T3 maps, your highest map drop would be a T4 from a T3 map. However you can run T1's to get +2 drops to sustain your T3 maps, and once you do a single T4 your T2's you've stockpiled can be used to sustain your T4 map's so you can push into T5.

      b) if i dont get the t6 and ran out of t5s, I would be running my t3s and hope for a t5 which I would then be running.
      i dont know. b) feels so weird. i will be running the t5 again with basically no map completion on the t1-t3 maps, therefore lacking atlas tree nodes, therefore beeing catapulted back to where i started. i guess i will be going for some kind of map completion until I get atleast one shaping node or smth.

If you dont have a tier 4 map, you have to do grotto and the tier 3 map till you get a tier 4? Thanks in advance!

      Also confused on this. It's explained as if your getting perfect +1 or +2 map drops on every completion. Or course it doesn't really matter to me as Kirac trivializes early map proggresion. My main issue comes in getting shafted by corrupted modifications for red tier bonus completions, and trying to gear for late maps/endgame. I usually burn out by the time or before I get my first t16 completion.

      This is how I understood it, I replied to a different comment on this video with more details but here's the summary:
      6. Rinse and repeat. First T5 drop > Run that map > can now run all of t1, t2, t3 and the only completed T4 and the only completed T5, etc.

Why not run ALL maps first that are 2 tiers higher than your lowest uncompleted tier so you can drop connected maps that have a lower tier but are still uncompleted? so if ur running all your t1 maps before running any t3, ur effectively wasting t3 drops in return for useless equity
      TL;DR - a t1 (x) map cannot drop a t3 (x+2) map until you have completed that x+2 map. But once you have done it, all your tier X maps can now drop tier x+2, effectively giving you more x+2 maps to repeat the process
