I was curious how this truck would do on the trail, and this video did a great job of answering my question. It looks like it needs a little more articulation in the rear to better mimic the 1:1 Ford Raptor.

Those are pretty cheap mods. Lifting the body helps a lot and softer springs in the front (if you can find softer ones with the correct diameter). Well and better tires :D

Well I have heard a little of both bad and good on this rig. Personally I really like it. THAT is some serious scale action. In my humble opinion. And you got some great scale shots all through the vid but I think 3:53 would be my favorite.. Great job man.. Thumbs up from me.. :P

Its nice truck but could use a little lift and a light tint on back windows and those tail lights cheesy same with wheels. Has potential to look scale but how it sits now it to newbrightish. My opinion so dont loose sleep over it. Lol. j/k. Great lil video though👍👍👍

In my optinion it needs bigger tires and some other mods :D This is a friends truck, I still need to order mine to mod/upgrade the hell out of it 😂

Das beginnt beim Servo Saver, höher legen, weichere Blattfedern und größere, bessere Reifen/Felgen. Aber dann ist es echt ein feines Gerät :)

Da hast du recht. Lackiert muss er auf jeden Fall werden. Soweit ich weiß, möchte Daniel den Raptor rot lackieren lassen. Sobald meiner mal bestellt ist, werde ich ihn gelb lackieren. :) Es gibt auf Facebook auch schon eine Gruppe, da sieht man schon ganz feine "Höherlegungen" :)
This truck needs a trailer hitched to it, hauling a boat or a crawler. A sound kit, and maybe a 3d printed FORD grill and tailgate. I love this truck, but the Cross rc duce n a half has me indecisive. I would use ether of them, to strictly haul a comp crawler like my now heavily modified Trx4, or my home built fling king mega mud truck. And drive this truck around the event towing the trailer and whatever is on it to the trail head, or mud hole at a crawler event. The HERO does bother me, but otherwise this is a very scale looking rig. I'm iffy about saying this, but I wonder what a slight lift kit would do for it. Maybe longer shocks and coil springs for the front, and a simple scale lift block under the leaf springs in the rear. Then some aluminum 2.2 rims, and Pro-Line Dirt Hawg 3.5 inch or 88mm tires. It would give it that modern lifted truck, with semi low profile wide oversized offroad aluminum deep dish look. Hell is the name of those popular truck rims I have in mind? Metal something or the other. Hmmm

The front has coil sping shocks but changing them will be a pain in the ass because you need to recreate the shock towers. The rig is ready for pulling a trailer. A sound kit would definitely be very nice. In my opinion this rig is not ment for crawling. Maybe a Class 0 trial truck which is super realistic :)
So....it’s not a crawler. Better for smother trails. Need some more clearance, better shocks, bigger tires. Damn, I ordered one and should get it in a day or so (blue). I don’t think I’m gonna like it ‘cause we have too much snow so I can’t even take it for a drive.
No it's not a crawler. It's more a class 0 trail truck. Bigger and better tires are recommended. There are some kits out there to raise the body. Helps a lot with clearance because you mostly will touch rocks with the body/rockslider. Shocks may be a problem because those are not mounted a other shocks. Softer springs would be better. The rear leaf spings get softer the more you use it.

It's called Desert Runner but if you jump it, you have two pieces worth 500 USD :D The Desert runner is nor a basher neither a rock crawler (at least when stock) but it's a super scale rig and it drives super scale too. :)
So unrealistic, like really who would go rock crawling with this truck without any lift kit and offroad suspension. Nice truck and all. However, it feels that RC4WD just tossed a show truck into the market.
Well I think there are many people who get a raptor and think they can go offroad beacuse it's a 4wd. The Hero is beautiful and one of the most scale trucks. Modding the truck to perform better is not that hard. It's a great looking class 0 rig that could definitely be better :)
Wow wait a year...you can buy it on Ebay cheap..... I dont get the hipe.... what's so fun about a slow....no suspension...low to the ground 4x4 truck? It's no axial or trx4 that would of climbed that rock....waste of money...
There's no more hype around the Hero. RC4WD doesn't sell it anymore. But it's a great looking scale 0 rig. It's not good out of the box ... like every RC4WD (Gelände II, Trailfinder ...) but with some mods it's a decent trail rig, not a crawler. It's nice for trail/scale walks. Not sure if it will be cheap in the future because I think that RC4WD hasn't sold too many of the Heros. :)

Yeah the whole suspension is super stiff. The rear gets softer the more you use the truck.

Is this the top speed? Crawl mode?
Top speed is 12.5 MPH / 20KMH with a 3S battery. Afaik there's no crawler mode. But it runs pretty smooth :)

So unrealistic, like really who would go rock crawling with this truck without any lift kit and offroad suspension. Nice truck and all. However, it feels that RC4WD just tossed a show truck into the market.
Well I think there are many people who get a raptor and think they can go offroad beacuse it's a 4wd. The Hero is beautiful and one of the most scale trucks. Modding the truck to perform better is not that hard. It's a great looking class 0 rig that could definitely be better :)

Wow wait a year...you can buy it on Ebay cheap..... I dont get the hipe.... what's so fun about a slow....no suspension...low to the ground 4x4 truck? It's no axial or trx4 that would of climbed that rock....waste of money...
There's no more hype around the Hero. RC4WD doesn't sell it anymore. But it's a great looking scale 0 rig. It's not good out of the box ... like every RC4WD (Gelände II, Trailfinder ...) but with some mods it's a decent trail rig, not a crawler. It's nice for trail/scale walks. Not sure if it will be cheap in the future because I think that RC4WD hasn't sold too many of the Heros. :)
