The TRX4 Defender may not be the most capable but in terms of styling I think it’s unbeatable! Had loads of fun with mine in the last year that’s for sure!
I bought the TRX4 when I had paid for my second rustler that wasn’t in stock. Never thought I would be into crawling and couldn’t see the point. Now I’m a proud owner of the TRX4 and TRX6. These are real people magnets when I take them out to the local parks.
There amazed till you tell them the price , I remember guy asking me about traxxas ralley car told him 480 than came the insults at the time a 40 inch TV was like 1500 , thats ok in peoples minds but 500 something that's a hobby is crazy lol

It is a lot of money for a 'toy' but these hobbies are always money pits, look at golf and the clubs and membership or even a simple hobby as fishing, I'm sure you can spend a lot of money on the kit there. It's hard to justify £1000or $1000 for an Xmaxx to the outsider but these cars could last years if well looked after.

They age well too long as take care of them like you said , I regrettably sold some RC's that very collectable today and for me would've had sentimental value , still hoping they atleast re release some like the kyosho optima mid se , it was top of line for the times .
I was going to purchase the Carisma 1/10 scale Range Rover, then just recently saw the new 1/18 scale ROCHOBBY Katana 80s Series Land Cruiser and decided on that instead ...and NOW you introduce another awesome 1/18 crawler! You are making it hard to decide!!!🤣
i first got into rc crawling with a scx10 ii deadbolt. great platform tons on mods available but it was missing somthing for me.. capability/appearance. diffs always hung up, wasnt fast enough out of the box, and was not a realistic body. i got a trx4 bronco about a month ago and i absolutely love it. even out of the box it outperforms the scx10ii no problem even after i modded it. i absolutely love the trx4 and will never get rid of it.
It's awesome to see the first big truck i bought is in top i know there will better but 2 sets of motor and escs later from stock and three sets of tires and now I'm happy i can go show real scale crawlers some stuff. Great video
Locking and Unlocking diffs is gold in my opinion. I wish for the transmission that not only high and low range but also have 2wd and 4wd!! Like 2 high, 4 high, and 4 low. JUST LIKE A REAL TRUCK!!!!
3 years later I know but thats why I jumped on the miller from RC4wd, I have their 4runner and love it and when I found out the miller had 2wd and 4wd with locking diffs is really rad. had it for a few months now and love it even after breaking a few things
In my opinion. My scx10.2 performs way better than my 10.3. All I did to it was put the servo up front and lay the battery flat. It made it so much better
I have a TRX 4 and it’s amazing. I got the kit version, which I would recommend to everyone because it is so easy to customize. The TRX4 is truly the king of crawling.
i used to have an scx10 an wraith when i was 16, my brother took them as a “F you” when my parents kicked him out an i’ve never seen em since, i found my old tires rims an battery’s an it made me want to get back into it... never actually realized how damn expensive they were 😂
I’ve had a scx10iii for a few days now. And have had my trx4 for 2 years. Already, the scx10iii is the best crawler I’ve ever owned. If anyone wants to have a good first crawler it should be the scx10iii Jeep JLU/wrangler, or the JT/gladiator .
Could you elaborate why please? I'm looking at the scx10iii Wrangler Rubicon or trx4 defender (I know there is the new bronco and so on, but I like more Land Rover and Jeep). I'd really appreciate your response

You had me going for a second. I have a TRX 4 Sport, and I was thinking, REALLY, the Traxxas TRX4 Sport didn't make it into the top 10? Now I feel great, cuz I know Traxxas has the number 1 and number 2 Crawler. Number 1 would be the TRX 6X6, and number 2 is, the TRX4 Sport for out of the box performance. My next crawler will be the TRX6X6 this summer.
I just got the 2021 bronco TRX4 about 3 weeks ago and I’ve absolutely loved it. Every video I’ve seen of the TRX4 vs SCX10 has basically been the TRX4 dragging the SCX10 across the course cause it keeps getting stuck 😂
Great list! Hard to argue with the Traxxas being No 1, (well, not my pick, lol), easily the most versatile kit out there. Can't go wrong with any of these!
The tf2 looked like an actual truck with that cloth seat and the patina paintjob. Reminds me of my dads old c10 with seat covers with a native pattern. very cool
My last hobby was fine scotch. Now that's an expensive rabbit hole. I'll stick with the RC cars from now on and take the ridicule for being a manchild 🤣

Hey, I think I was born to RC.....I just got back into the RC's around March, and I own 4 of the top 10! Hopefully my wife doesn't see this video since someone just HAD to include the prices! Hahaha Oh! And I was pleasantly surprised when I got home from work and actually had the "Winter 2021" Amain catalog in my mailbox! If only it had been a TF2 instead......😉 Great little video Brett!!
Knew TRX4 would be in spot 1 but I have to say after owning one and the Element Enduro Sendero builders kit, I found the element performed better. I sold on the TRX4 and never looked back. That being said the TRX4 is still a great truck but a little high on price because, in my opinion, just the traxxas name.

The TRX4 is still king. The TRX6 is the absolute most capable out of box. The axials are Ok but they come with terrible transmitters and the ESC receiver combo in the scx10 iii is just stupid. Many complaints on the axial drivetrains for slop and noise too. The element rc enduro is great, but I wish they went slightly further with light buckets and licensed bodies and hard plastic fender wheel wells. I like my SCX24 but it’s a toy compared to my 1/10 vehicles. I can’t install my own receiver and it is not %100 waterproof, but for indoor fun and crawling it’s an amazing addition to the hobby.
High speed with portals!! I had a summit 1/10 that I did convert to 6s brusless This thing goes anywhere! Two lockers, 2 and 4wd . If I had no clue about the driving of that beast, I've would been a little more tempted by a trx4...But there's a Ryft, the RB10 4s and it looks pretty beefy! I wonder if Traxxas is working on a rock bouncer?

I think you left one out. I'm talking about the RGT 1/10 scale crawler. There are two versions. One with a center mounted motor, and also one with a front mounted motor. I already have the R008 I think it is, the center mounted one. I haven't even finished upgrading and modding it yet and am looking for the best price on the front mounted model. I want to start a 1/10 scale build and have a hood and doors that open. Have a Dodge Durango 4 X 4 i want to clone. Well, a miniature version.
I agree RGT has great crawlers even the cheap Rock Cruiser with little upgrades from some plastic parts they’re super capable quick enough and well balanced

Trx4 is the way to go. I bought one and it is a solid truck. I dukes of hazzard it all the time and it just takes it. Almost zero issues. In the two years I’ve had it. It’s needed a steering horn. One steering servo. And one brushed 17 dollar stock motor. I smash it daily.
Gmade axles and transmission removes torque twist without the use of portal axles. I would have gmade buffalo over many others on this list except that ssd trail king and the vanquish kit.
@redndeyes I find here it depends on brand. Axial and Traxxas always seem to have things in stock parts or otherwise, but if I go to look for Element specific parts there's never any in store but they sell the trucks. They won't even stock redcat.

what body did you go with?
I went with the TRX 4 sport body and added the light kit and the off-road rack for the bed. It’s metal flake red.

I actually have an element rc trailwalker and i gotta say its a mean truck all the way around! Long grass cant even stop this truck its so powerful.

I’d choose the one with the most weight on the axles because it stabilizes the actual car so it doesn’t tip over all the time

If I had the money, I'd get a RC4WD C2X Class 2 Competition Truck w/ Mojave II 4 Door Body. Thing looks amazing and the tires.. oh the tires.
motor died in the scx24 after like 15-20 runs ish...if you buy it, expect it to go out
