Not sure what you were expecting. With the GRU, scale accurate drivetrain, and open differentials, it's not meant for the rocks/speed. If you want to do donuts, you'll need to lock that rear diff. Makes for the ultimate challenge to drive it as a real truck on proper terrain. Makes a great tow vehicle too. Give it a chance, when used as intended!
I just expected it to be a little bit quicker. Hoping to resolve that with a different motor. Don’t get me wrong I love the chassis. The true IFS is fantastic.

Oh, SNAP! It looks so much better. I like the desert color much better than the blackout color. You really didn't have to take the truck apart for professional results, especially one with so much detail. I would have used painters tape to cover up every little detail and trim I don't want to be painted and then used some kind of primer for the material type and then spray paint it in coats. Let it dry then apply a gloss or non-gloss sealer to protect the paint and then remove all the tape and yield these same results. I do get that some people like taking things apart to be curious but this is a rare build with a lot of detail. Either way, this sand color on black wheels is awesome. I don't think side and top vents should have been painted.
I love it. I think that it is great at that speed. To me it is more of a proper base for a simple, daily driven model truck. However I am not into bashing or speed at all really these days. I absolutely love towing my trailers around though with different loads on them. Nice work on the video Josh. Hope to see it towing some of your rat rods around.

Yeah I think a scale tow rig is exactly what it was designed to be buddy. I feel for you buddy. I'm in same boat with my daily driver just replaced my old 2006 Peugeot 307sw with 2012 Ford Focus and turns out the Peugeot was much more fun to drive. But have faith you'll sort it to your liking buddy.
Yes stock it was ass af but after my axle swap its a monster. Pretty flip prone though because its such a heavy body. I went brushless in mine, extremely fast.
The planetary is definitely going to get hot. I run one in my rig with only a 1300kv on 2s so it's not being turned super fast. It gets so hot that the high temp marine grease I put in it just thins out and leaks out of the cracks. Its gotta better with use though.
So, all in all you seem pretty stoked, ha. It seemed to perform about as expected. Yup, will be a good trailer truck. Maybe turn it into a dually tow truck or a trail service rig with a welder and big diesel generator or something. It did look a lot better with the bed off so maybe as flatbed would be good
Great job bud! came out looking great,bummer bout the door jams i painted a build recently that the same thing happened to me and like you said i didnt put alot of paint on it..lol... im more into a slower more scale driving so i think the motor set up you got in there is perfect,im running a 35turn in a 5to1 gear reduction unit and i think the speed is perfect and has gobs of torque.looks real nice man good job with.👍👍👍

It does have a front and rear diff lock, I just ran out of servos to use it this first run. No center lock though. Once I get the diffs locked and get it some more power, I think it will be a lot more exciting.
Rc Everyday i have seen quite a few of your videos and need a little help with my tube chassis "bagged build", the rear suspension i have all sorted out but not quite sure how i should go about setting steering up and the suspension on my 1:14 semi axle. Using a short coil spring there is only one pre tapped hole on the back side of the axle and its 3mm. Any suggestions? I dont have a tap small enough for my threaded rod to make radius arms work.
I like to just use a shock with internal spring in between the axle and the radius arm. I have to drill out the threads on the axle itself and just use a 3mm bolt to go through the axle, shock and into the radius arm.
So really cool concept that fell rather short of the mark. With all them dually rims you have, it might make a killer dually. Maybe hunt around for a newer generation Chevy body to slap on it.
Damn. It really looked tempting at first. The RTR comes at around 750€ (860$) where i am. That's a fucking large Bag of Money for an unpainted Truck to haul the Scale Kids to Scale School. I guess i´ll throw my Money towards Traxxas for another TRX-4.
They are snap on collector coin banks. Can find them on ebay usually. And yes they even have a snap on appropriate price. There are lots of different scales and versions. Mine are called 1/8 scale but fit well with the 1/10 trucks
Great first effort on paint job. When your ready to re-paint. 😂😂. Zep purple degreaser will strip that paint without damaging plastic. I hate when best laid plans dont work out. But, 👍🏻👍🏻 for still showing final result. Sorry to hear about poor Quality. Price tag is up there. Seems like should have got a better built truck for the money.

I would have painted it just like you did, I would open the door it would have cracked the paint and I would have crapped myself. Quite a bit of money to not have small things like that finished in engineering. Like you, mixed feelings. I would not have expected it to do any better on the Rocks then it did. Would not have expected the running board to break the first time that I did though. Heartbroken that putting it back together with such a pain in the ass because that's where I would have been wanting things well finished. Can't get around that it's an absolutely gorgeous truck. You can fix the gearing, you can fix the door, but man they hit a homerun with the styling. And you hit a grand slam with the color ..! With all that said though, I still want one...😁 thank you for putting yours through hell for us..!
Absolutely! I didn’t expect it to rock crawl. I just was hoping for a little more top end. That can be fixed though. I still love the chassis and hope to make something different on top of it. The body is extremely detailed and I just didn’t give it enough time(and patience).
@Michael Thompson, oh they rust, just not like steel. My dads got a ‘14, and the bed is spotted with white powder. So if you’re going to rust this thing, look up white rust.
All that scale detail and it is fantastic, but fall flat on the front shock rezzies just cable tied to the frame wtf, dropped the ball there, I could not see where or how they should have fitted but a full size would not be hanging there.

The Raptor has solid rear axle with a locker and 4.10 gears. Up front is an independent suspension with a Torsen automatically locking differential and 4.10 gears. The 3-inch diameter Fox Racing shocks help the truck handle high speed off-road runs. The 2017 Raptor is currently the most powerful factory pickup truck with 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque coming from the high-output version of its 3.5L EcoBoost V6. The Raptor rides on 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires. If this was a ridgeline knock off no one would give a crap but this is a dam raptor rip off that looks more like a ford explorer frame its almost a kick in the mouth this thing is 580+ $$$ makes no sense i'd buy it for 300 range just to put a suv body on it if they tweak the ifs with some lift kit parts the 1:1 uses and some blocks for the rear it could be super badass scale! instead of taking paint off, why not cover damage with some fake mud!! brown paint, use an old toothbrush and flick the bristles making mud splats.
