I really hope you all enjoy the GMC Motorhome Update. I do want to apologize the video ended up being so long. There was just so much going on in this episode. I hope everyone is having a great week! Thank you all so much!
This video was so long, you and Dad were still checking out all of the creature comforts that trailer is going to transfer to the motorhome - with room to spare! You saved a fortune buying this trailer👍 Looking forward to the next episode.
That camper purchase was sheer brilliance! Talk about moving this build a quantum leap forward! That GMC will be so light, it won't know what made it drop so much weight. All those appliances would've put this build over the top and beyond. Smart as a whip build! Cheers!
The 455 Oldsmobile engine is hard to kill. The carburetor on there if still original is very sought after as well. Your dad looks in better shape than most 20 year olds. Good to see a father and son project.
Thanks for doing this build. You guys have been busy ! I am fond of the GMC motor home. What a score getting the rear suspension; that saved you a bundle. Looking forward to the rest.
Like a Boss! You two are the Dynamic Duo of YT auto-restos. I rarely click on vids this long, but I'm a big fan of your channel now so I didn't hesitate. The fact that you're both always smiling and upbeat makes your videos thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Great score with the totaled trailer. Might consider adding more solar panels on bigger roof. Will follow this build all the way to first camp out. Very impressed with your combined skill sets and your penny pinching resourcefulness. Much respect from Santa Cruz, CA.
Love your channel & deserved growth. Been watching since you 1st pulled the 911 from scrap. Wish we had such cool & plentiful vehicles in UK scrap yards. So many V8s & so many abandoned gems.
Goto every item you are getting and get manual op instruction for them....fridge might b under warranty And instead of carpet in GMC cover floor with those 😅😅😅😅bplastic sheet good easier to sweep and. Cleañ
Great job so far! You might look at using the cubby for the old propane tank for your Generator. I would suggest using a thermal-noise mat up front to reduce the engine heat as well. That wrecked camper was a major score of very useful parts.
Ìdea - fabricate wheel well spash guard liners over the front tires to protect your flooring so it doesn't rot. Love Budget Buildz, your videos are much appreciated, thank you dad & son.
Excellent job, Michael and Dad! The GMC is on the way to restoration and enjoyment. When completed, the whole family will remember the first campout forever, believe me!
Gotta admit, I never would have thought of gutting one RV to fit out another. But it's absolutely brilliant -- as long as you can shoehorn it all in, that is. 😀
Little tip from a guy that has done a lot of boat repair. A oscillating multitool is great at cutting out panels like that. This thing is looking fantastic! Such a cool project
Wow, what an impressive level of skills! I envy men their knowledge of car engines. I wish I had half that knowledge. Your skill set is so huge. I'm learning a lot watching you. I wish I had this knowledge 40 yrs ago. Very good job at restoring this vintage beauty. The way you cleaned up and replaced engine parts was awesome. Also the rotted wood floors. How did you know where to cut the wood to find the metal beams underneath?
I really enjoy watch you and your dad work on this old stuff. Your such a positive person!! You and sleeperdude are my favorite people to watch on here! Keep up you guys!!
Mate , getting that wrecked camper is pure genius . Big shout out to your dad , that is one cool dude . Never worry about your vids being to long . Great channel , keep them coming , cheers from OZ .
This is great! I love the positive attitude that you show when the little things go wrong in your videos - not that there is much of that! I've always loved these GMCs.
That wrecked camper was a good find and has so many still near new equipment and parts for your motorhome. For what you paid for that camper, it's a steal and you just saved yourselves thousands of dollars imo. This build's gonna be a banger!
You did a great job cleaning out your RV. Plus finding all That like new stuff. You got one great deal on that also. To put it all in your RV as you’re rebuilding it 👍🙏👀
You guys rock! I was just thinking about the RV earlier today and you posted this. The camper is a definite win with all the parts and systems you can use. I can’t wait to see how the RV turns out!
Thanks for a great video of the vintage 1973 GMC Motorhome. That big block could do with a big exhaust system to help get as much HP out of it. Think of a engine as a air pump, get as much air into it and get that air out as best you can. It will help the engine more efficiently and give more torque and HP to push it a long the road. Great buy on the camper. Cheers.
I enjoy watching your progress in restoring this classic GMC RV. Best of luck on your adventures!! You definitely need to save the rear ramp door off of that toy hauler. It could be used for something else, like a trailer build or install it on your garage. All of the interior lights are LED’s on that toy hauler. You definitely need to put those in the GMC also. Save on lighting. Again, best of luck on your build. You’re off to a great start!
Awesome! In my neighborhood, there's 2 of these parked alongside each other, just sitting. I always ride by and wonder when the owner will get to them. Never realized that it's front wheel drive!
What a transformation this is going to be by adding all the goodies from the wrecked camper! You definitely nailed a bargain of the century buying it for 1,400.00.. so looking forward to the next video! Thanks for sharing..
Very true. Best tool for flush cuts and plunge cuts! I have the Dremel and use Dremel blades. Anyone know of good cheaper blades? Can you re-sharpen the old blades?
Nice work. You should attend a GMCMI convention and get your windshields replaced there. It's not cheap, but it will really help the coach look better.
I just love your work and your cars. It takes me back to cars of my era and I’m not even from the US. In Australia we had similar stuff and the same nostalgia. 👍
Is amazing that the internal components of that wrecked camper still function. The stove should have all of its valves checked to make sure they don't leak propane. Dont want to go boom.
Nice score on the auction camper! That has a ton of useful parts for you. The old bus is coming along well too! I'm excited to see how you combine them both for an awesome family rig!
Your epox work is right on the money. Especially the sides. I'm liking your style. While your in there replace with the best and cleaning the threads. That's the way I do it.
Really nice congrats on the copart camper, offgrid/offroad campers are really hot right now. That camper is a big help to your project for sure, the offroad suspension would pay for that whole purchase.
Been waiting patiently for this one! When you were taking out the rotten subfloor I was thinking to myself "Man, I would epoxy seal all that ply like a boat, while the floor is off and you have access," then lo an behold, you read my mind. Same wavelength.
Awesome. Will not take much (once you gut the wrecked camper) to turn it into an enclosed offroad trailer. Even put some of the old stuff into it as well.
I was just saying they should make a motorhome with rockwood quality and here you are doing just that, awesome!! I have a geo pro they are pretty nice. 1400 is a freaking deal.
Wicked smart move on buying the wrecked but serviceable RV for the HVAC system, etc. Smart decision doing the wood section floor repairs. The GMC RV's are very stout and long lasting platforms compared to other RV's.
I've always really liked the rear suspension on these GMC motorhomes! The fact that they're a front wheel drive Olds 455 with *zero* rear axles is brilliant! I don't know why a similar design wasn't adopted by another company after GMC stopped making RV's. The video of this and the Winnebago driving over the whoopty doo's is HILARIOUS! 😂
I really hope you all enjoy the GMC Motorhome Update. I do want to apologize the video ended up being so long. There was just so much going on in this episode. I hope everyone is having a great week! Thank you all so much!
We don't mind long videos
We love long videos. It coula last 4 hours and looks like 20mn 😂
This video was so long, you and Dad were still checking out all of the creature comforts that trailer is going to transfer to the motorhome - with room to spare! You saved a fortune buying this trailer👍
Looking forward to the next episode.
Good idea and keep it coming
It’s better when the video is longer 👍
Even with the Copart fees, that wrecked camper was a brilliant buy. You are going to have that GMC modernized and really awesome!
Very nice Copart buy!!! You saved a fortune on RV parts and pieces!! Love this restoration!!!
As a career carpenter I think it's excellent work. You should get decades of trouble free use out of these repairs. Fantastic job!
Getting that copart camper was a very smart idea. You can really outfit the GMC for a fraction of the cost. Well done gentlemen!!
Buying a wrecked RV was totally the way to go! I recommend that to anyone rebuilding a camper/RV.
Wonderful idea, I don't think I've ever seen anyone retrofit an old RV with with a modern camper. 😃
My favorite video besides the 911. I am really looking forward to seeing you build this using the wreck as a donor.
I'm glad to hear that you're going more modern with this rebuild. The totaled camper is a treasure cove for you!
Sure would love to see y'all put a fiteck , Edelbrock, or whatever fuel injection system on that thing. You guys doing a great job.
You guys now have one of a kind rv that no wants but you and your dad are amazing for rebuilding top to bottom
That Motorhome is going to be sick when it's completed! You may wind up creating the first "resto-mod" Motorhome! Keep up the good work, guys!
What a great idea buying the wrecked camper, thats a huge saving and so much modern amenities for the old RV 👌🏻
Thanks for doing this build. You guys have been busy ! I am fond of the GMC motor home. What a score getting the rear suspension; that saved you a bundle. Looking forward to the rest.
It's a great idea, the savings alone in buying that totaled trailer is worth it! Can't wait to see you putting it to great use in the GMC.
That parts camper is a game changer! Awesome 👍
Frame rigidity increased by 50%. Replace entire floor and float like a boat. Nice work.
That Trailer was a total score ,really looking forward to the rebuild it is going to be great when it's done .
Like a Boss! You two are the Dynamic Duo of YT auto-restos. I rarely click on vids this long, but I'm a big fan of your channel now so I didn't hesitate. That's why it's called budget buildz 😊
Love your channel & deserved growth. Been watching since you 1st pulled the 911 from scrap. Wish we had such cool & plentiful vehicles in UK scrap yards. So many V8s & so many abandoned gems.
I agree with you,but aren't they lucky in the states with not having to pass an MOT every year lol!
Onward and upward Michael, I think it was a great decision to get that donor camper, so much you can use to modernise the GMC 👏👍🙂
Watching this get the TLC it needs is very nice to see. Extremely satisfying to watch.
Brilliant idea with the parts camper! Looking forward to the next episode!
Goto every item you are getting and get manual op instruction for them....fridge might b under warranty
And instead of carpet in GMC cover floor with those 😅😅😅😅bplastic sheet good easier to sweep and. Cleañ
I am a '73 model too and love the Scooby Doo era look of your camper, I can't wait to see that amazing donor stuff get installed, great decision.
Can't wait to see the upgrades after you get it done. That was a great idea of buying the wrecked motorhome.

Never apologize for a long video. I’m all in when it comes to budget builds.
I like the fact that you guys aren't afraid to tackle anything. Good job!
Love the longer video. Buying that trailer is genius!
The Jimmy redo just went up a level. Can't wait to see where this one goes.
🗿 yep 👍
I really enjoy watch you and your dad work on this old stuff. Your such a positive person!! You and sleeperdude are my favorite people to watch on here! Keep up you guys!!
Yeah that parts camper is saving you thousands for sure!!
Love the longer videos, 45mins plus are the best!
Mate , getting that wrecked camper is pure genius . Big shout out to your dad , that is one cool dude . Never worry about your vids being to long . Great channel , keep them coming , cheers from OZ .
Epoxying the joints and ends of the wood isn't overkill. Wood is like a candle wick or sponge at the end. It soaks up moisture and damp. GOOD JOB!!
Great use of damaged trailer, looking forward to seeing this project rolling along 👍💨💨
This is great! I love the positive attitude that you show when the little things go wrong in your videos - not that there is much of that! I've always loved these GMCs.
Wasn’t sure about this one, but now super excited to see this finished
That’s a really great idea robbing the trailer parts. Save a fortune 😊
Great video! I am looking looking forward to part 5 and seeing that ol' beauty get a makeover with all the modern amenities.
You guys fixed that the right way and did a awesome job, cant wait to see the finished product. I’m sure whatever you two do it will look fantastic.
what a find on the camper! Can't wait to see that re-purposed into the GMC.
That wrecked camper was a good find and has so many still near new equipment and parts for your motorhome.
For what you paid for that camper, it's a steal and you just saved yourselves thousands of dollars imo.
This build's gonna be a banger!
Awesome copart buy! So many great parts! You should use mass loaded vinyl in that front area and spray foam the wall panels that arent insulated.
really enjoyed this one... BRILLIANT idea picking up the new camper. Cant wait to see how you integrate the parts.
You did a great job cleaning out your RV. Plus finding all
That like new stuff. You got one great deal on that also. To put it all in your RV as you’re rebuilding it 👍🙏👀
I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the parts from the new Copart Camper. That was a great purchase!
You guys rock! I was just thinking about the RV earlier today and you posted this. The camper is a definite win with all the parts and systems you can use. I can’t wait to see how the RV turns out!
Love what your doing with the 73 gmc rv. Looks like a well thought out plan.
That's a great idea! Buying the wrecked rv,what a score!!!
Love these videos! I would suggest a floating vinyl floor on the downstairs and shag in the cockpit!!
Do really enjoy the rebuild and see how you use the level as a guide to cut the flooring / watch and learn at 74 years old - helps a lot thank you
Thanks for a great video of the vintage 1973 GMC Motorhome.
That big block could do with a big exhaust system to help get as much HP out of it. Think of a engine as a air pump, get as much air into it and get that air out as best you can. It will help the engine more efficiently and give more torque and HP to push it a long the road.

This is a good build. Nice find on the toy hauler. Lots of great items to salvage from that unit.
Awesome! In my neighborhood, there's 2 of these parked alongside each other, just sitting. I always ride by and wonder when the owner will get to them. Never realized that it's front wheel drive!
You changed my whole approach to reconditioning my 1976 GMC Transmode! And, yes, you can please go on for a full hour or more.
Vice grips for the win on the broken bolt🎉
What a transformation this is going to be by adding all the goodies from the wrecked camper! You definitely nailed a bargain of the century buying it for 1,400.00.. so looking forward to the next video! Thanks for sharing..
Hi guys nice video 📹 and workmanship!! Those arevvvvs are nice !!! Gad it's all congrats together!!!
Awesome buy on that trailer. Those components are worth WAAYYY more than you paid for the trailer. Your RV is going to be great.
You will be amazed at how much easier that rot removal would be with an oscillating tool!
With ya 💯 on that, one of the best tools I've ever bought 👍
Lol. I said the same.
You can even use it to remove windshields
Love this series. Own a '76 Palm Beach. Covered much of the ground you are working on. All the best!
I just love your work and your cars. It takes me back to cars of my era and I’m not even from the US. In Australia we had similar stuff and the same nostalgia. 👍

i am even more hyped then u are! 😄 these oldschool motorhomes look so cool. thank u for the content
Great work in this video. I hope you cleaned up the rust on the pulleys. It'll save the belts in the long run.
Your epox work is right on the money. Especially the sides. I'm liking your style. While your in there replace with the best and cleaning the threads. That's the way I do it.
Enjoyed your enthusiasm and vision for the GMC with the camper’s new parts. It should be a cool one of a kind vehicle.
Really nice congrats on the copart camper, offgrid/offroad campers are really hot right now. That camper is a big help to your project for sure, the offroad suspension would pay for that whole purchase.

Awesome. Will not take much (once you gut the wrecked camper) to turn it into an enclosed offroad trailer. Even put some of the old stuff into it as well.
Dude that is the best idea you ever could do just swap that trailer into the motor home. So sick dude its going pretty fast, nice work
Wow, that is awesome, hoi G to make that camper look freaking amazing, well done on the purchase!
pretty cool, moving right along.
These guys are dewing a great job to these rv
That GMC is going to be a gem, great job guys, I'm really enjoying this build so far
I was just saying they should make a motorhome with rockwood quality and here you are doing just that, awesome!! I have a geo pro they are pretty nice. 1400 is a freaking deal.
Out of all the old American RV's this is the Gem. Love watching this from the UK
What an awesome project ! Really looking forward to the follow up videos.
This was a major score !
It's going to be fantastic bringing all those modern things in to the motorhome .
23:20 That was a Robert Shaw High Flow Thermo Stat. I highly recommend them for these Motorhomes and at a 160°.
Genius idea getting the copart camper for pennies on the dollar. Looking forward to next chapter.
Lots of great pieces and parts you can reuse on that trailer.👍👍👍
Wicked smart move on buying the wrecked but serviceable RV for the HVAC system, etc. Smart decision doing the wood section floor repairs. The GMC RV's are very stout and long lasting platforms compared to other RV's.
not overkill- thats very wise to do so. that will keep it good for many years to come. The factory should have done that.
Nice job! The floor came out great and the repairs also. Your little purchase will bring your GMC into the modern world. You guys are fun to watch.
This build just keeps getting better and better!! Love it!!
Great idea on using the new rv to put into the new. Planning on doing pretty much the same thing! Good luck!
Looking good...nice to see father son team...
