The purpose of Lectromotive and QD Iis to clean WITOUT leaving residue on sensitive electrical and electronic parts . I have used them for many years on high dollar sophisticated industrial equipment . Thanks Kenny 👍🇺🇲
Nice job Kenny! I remember when they first started using fuel injection and throttle bodies. The Dealerships and shops too made a big deal about cleaning them. They would remove them, put them in the parts cleaner and such and reinstall. $$ I took the hose loose, sprayed it real good and let it sit a while, cranked it, and slowly fed the rest of the can through it. Worked like a charm. It was over kill. This day and age, it is perfect the way you do it. Don't worry about what someone else says, you are showing first hand what you do, and have 40 years or more experience. I actually remove some of my comments when I get a smart elic that quotes and bashes like old style forums. It has happened to me twice in your comments. Not a big deal, I just remove them. I clean the mass air flow any time I clean a throttle body, just like you! Keep wrenching!
I have a Saturn, 2001 and it’s been through 3 Idle Air Controllers and I finally got where when it happens I run Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas and SeaFoam in alternating fill ups. And it’ll sit high between shifts unless you stay off the gas.
Just to add to your information on this Kenny they now have an updated version of the spider that changes the poppet nozzles to actual injectors and eliminates the main injection unit and makes it a multi port injection system
I always buy nylon brushes from Harbor Freight. I call them bottle brushes because they are tapered or small. They are cheap and don't last long but they are great to have around for the throttle body and other things.
Great work Kenny. I haven't thrown away a toothbrush in over 30 years, they all go to the garage. I actually looked for HARD brushes once, but couldn't find any!!!
I have a 4.3 and upgraded the spider while I had it apart for other issues but I never knew how a poppet worked. Thanks for explaining it. The new one had injectors at each port.
I keep some old toothbrushes in a beer can holder along with a set of round brushes (can't remember where I got those) but they are handy for cleaning lots of stuff.Cheers mate.
I discovered the aluminum components from myrace engine (pistons, heads, etc) came out of the dishwasher sparkling clean. My wife didn't talk to me for days.
Ken, I had a 2000 silverado sold it 9 years ago great truck 289k miles one alternator at 145k sold it because the tin worms took over. I did have a problem with the trans not shifting I put in for service at the dealer, they called me and told me it was fixed they changer the IAC it was not letting the engine return to idle. it was fixed and I was happy
Good maintenance tips Kenny! I recently went through this condition on a 2004 Nissan Sentra with 135,900 miles. The MAF sensor was so caked up, I couldn't believe the car even ran! Also, the throttle body was filthy. This was caused by poor maintenance or none at all. The car ran like a deer after cleaning all.
Those 800 series are solid! And easy to work on. Wife has an 04 GMC Yukon Denali. Recently on 3 hour round trip the battery gauge dipped and "battery not charging" and later "battery" light came on. Went away quickly and drove normaly. Battery and alternator are new last six months. Mechanic friend recommended swapping out out the alternator. Said you would be surprised how often the replacement fails. Did that yesterday with an AC Delco alternator. While doing that noticed the tensioner was shot. So cut off belt, which was also newer, and replaced that as well. So new belt now as well now. Now it's dying while driving. Battery gauge drops and dies. Starts right back up, drives a bit and dies. Only drove it about 2 miles like this and turned around and went home. Just had battery checked. 100% good. Any idea what I should be looking for? Fuel pump was also replaced in last 2 years. No CEL light. No problems like this previously.
I had a 2000 1500 with 4.3, loved the truck, when I moved from Ca. to Tn. I gave it to a pastor friend the truck had 312,000 mi. on it. I had never done anything to the engine, replaced the trans at 250,000 mi. It was a great trk.
I’ve used that until they came out with specific MAF sensor cleaner and I now use that specifically. In all honesty, it’s probably the same thing with a different label wrapped on the can 🤷♂️ like you, I’ve never had any issues either. God bless~
You all heard the man, MAKE SURE THERE IS NO CRACK IN YOUR PIPE! I'm sorry but I laughed way too hard when Kenny said that. 😅 Have a good one everybody, and keep wrenching! 👍🏼
Throttle bodies can be cleaned even faster by using a cheap battery powered toothbrush. Also, I have a collection of toothbrushes that I have bent the handles on at various angles to clean areas were a straight brush handle wouldn't work. Most brush handles can be bent by heating them lightly with a torch or a heat gun.
There is an upgrade kit to delete the poppet valves. Individual injectors replace GM`s bad decision. Still has the "spider" look, base has regulator feeding the injectors and injector pulse wiring. My MIL had a Blazer with a 4.3 and her mpg fell through the floor. That kit fixed the mpg and power issues.
TB position sensor will get a dead spot in acceleration, never saw it fast idle. You could have tightened it to much, and deformed the plastic outer housing .
You'd think after 40 years that one would know to leave the key in the on position for 2 mins before starting the vehicle after replacing the IAC (idle air controller) motor... the computer needs to calculate its range of fully open and fully closed.
I keep all the used toothbrushes in my house. Use them for everything from washing dishes to throttle assemblies. I don't think I need to BORROW somebody's and put it back.
Not a throttle body like this Chevy but the throttle assembly on my Ford Focus was one of the last solid cable connected and it had so much gunk on the plate it would get stuck on idle so I used Gumout to clean it up. Then the idle was fast because ( after checking every possible other thing ) I found it was then passing too much air around the plate. The idle screw is glued in permanently so I filed some metal off the end to bring it down.
Gotta love the keyboard warriors that know everything. They probably haven't turned a wrench a day in their lives and watch too much TH-cam lol. I had a 1990 GMC shortbed 1/2 ton and put over 200K miles on it (bought it with 40K miles) and it would still get 19mpg and only burn 1/2 qt oil between changes...great little engines.
I think Eric O, Rainman, PHAD, Next Level, ScannerDanner, Watch Wes Work, Ford Boss Me would all agree that you are not only a hack but dangerous. Didn’t you just get injured recently? I don’t think Ford Boss Me is going to airhammer out a U-joint on the bench again anytime soon. It will get you boy.
My wife told me when she gets mad at me she cleans the toilet and it makes her feel better. I asked he how in the world could that help anything and she told me she cleans it with my toothbrush. 🤣🤣
If Meg says she cleaned the bathroom, you might wanna check your toothbrush 😂😅
Check it ? Just chuck it !
I was thinking toilet😂
Kenny is my hero!! Pro mechanic hasn't cleaned his throttle body in 180K. I wait until stuff breaks, too. Not enough time in the day.
The purpose of Lectromotive and QD Iis to clean WITOUT leaving residue on sensitive electrical and electronic parts . I have used them for many years on high dollar sophisticated industrial equipment . Thanks Kenny 👍🇺🇲
I loved the toothbrush humor. You should have had her start yelling at you in the background. I liked the video.
Meg would kick his butt if he did that, ROTFL.

The old toothbrush is basically free and works like a charm, Kenny just showed you.
Brake cleaner when heated produces Phosgene gas. BAD STUFF.
Phosgene gas is nerve gas.
2003 and newer 4.3 engines were VIN X and used actual multi-port fuel injection instead of the "W" code spider injection or the "Z" TBI injection.
I guess that's a reason to have a dishwasher...

Good video. But that brake fluid color. Looks like a fluid flush video is coming. 😉
Thanks for the video Kenny 👍❤️❤️it. Take care of yourself and family and be Blessed.

love those cat eye chevy trucks with a manual trans .
I had a couple of Jimmy's with the 4.3 and never had any issues with the engine. Great video 😊.

Had one of those trucks once it was a good truck. Michigan salt ate it up quick though, wish I would’ve got it fluid filmed👍
2000-2007 gm/chevy light trucks - engine computer must relearn to idle anytimd a change is made, including battery disconnect
Nobody borrow a toothbrush from Kenny. Everyone send him some toothbrushes for Christmas.
Kenny won't be around for Christmas! As of this video his wife took care of him permanently lol jk
That could happen too if he took her favorite scissors to cut some wires or something. lol@@stevenpetty1694
Don't borrow a tooth brush from anyone 😅
You all heard the man, MAKE SURE THERE IS NO CRACK IN YOUR PIPE! I'm sorry but I laughed way too hard when Kenny said that. 😅 Have a good one everybody, and keep wrenching! 👍🏼
@@mikeburdi3464 You have to keep those pesky weeds out too
The reason you don't use Brake Cleaner in the Throttle Body is that it may remove the protective coating on the plate and edges.
Throttle bodies can be cleaned even faster by using a cheap battery powered toothbrush. Also, I have a collection of toothbrushes that I have bent the handles on at various angles to clean areas were a straight brush handle wouldn't work. You have a great instructional gift….❤️
Time for some new glasses kenny! Some that are fitted properly so you are not constantly pushing them back up like every minute!
Excellent~Just go get them adjusted!
Great instructional video brother Kenny. You are a funny guy using the wife's toothbrush!!

how far back does that problem go? I had a '90 that wouldn't do over NINE!
Wouldn't it be better to press the pedal to open the butterfly to clean the throttle? That way it doesn't have to go to the re-learn idling status.
TB position sensor will get a dead spot in acceleration, never saw it fast idle. You could have tightened it to much, and deformed the plastic outer housing .
Hope the carb cleaner didn't get to the fine wire in the TP sensor . It's a reostat.
LOL YOU USING 1/2 INCH DRIVE TO INSTALL IT
Kenny, you know what they say about opinions. Opinions are like bum holes, everybody has one. Keep wrenching.
Hope you bought her a new toothbrush and some flowers for all the shenanigans. Lol really like your videos. Could you do a video on a diesel?
Good evening Mr Kenny hope you had a great day 😁
I take them off to clean..
Have you ever used Berrymans B-12 before? It’s a really good product to fuel systems. Cleans everything in the system
Doesn’t anybody do any diagnosis anymore?
You'd think after 40 years that one would know to leave the key in the on position for 2 mins before starting the vehicle after replacing the IAC (idle air controller) motor... the computer needs to calculate its range of fully open and fully closed.
Hurting for toothbrushes. We all need to donate.
Använd frugans borste till ögon-Mascara, liten lång rund halvhård borste 👍
Thanks
I have always worried about washing the dirt down into the cylinders. Is it just my OCD? 😂. Thanks for another great video Kenny👍
I don't understand the need for 4 wheel drive where you live. Unless you go off roading, what's the point?
The brake fluid is low
Great video Kenny .Can't wait until the next.

I Bet she has some sparkling teeth!!!!

speedkar99 would approve of the toothbrush tool.

I wonder what she does with your toothbrush?
My wife doesn’t brush her teeth so I borrowed the dog’s toothbrush.
Do you have part number for throttle body to intake o ring seal?
I forgot to put the PCV valve back in the valve cover, and the idle went to 450 rpm.
"I call mine Gerard."
As dirty as that Truck is inside, it's probably just a big chunk of mud that's weighing the Accelerator Pedal down that's keeping the idle so high ! 😏
My wife told me when she gets mad at me she cleans the toilet and it makes her feel better. I asked he how in the world could that help anything and she told me she cleans it with my toothbrush. 🤣🤣
The idle issue may be related to the idle air control valve. Be nice abd grab a new brush for the wife.
I agree, if this doesn't work that could be it
Just a suggestion to him. After that, I don't know. With the training I had, that is what comes to mind.
LOL,I hope you got your wife a new toothbrush after this.
this system really cheap gm wouldn't put injectors same as lt engines
Clean your damn gauges
Dirty mass air meter😂😂😂
