Today we go over the process taken in mounting the carbon fiber panels we made onto the 240z Datsun. I split these videos up into 2 because one video would have been just too long so I hope everyone doesn't mind lol.
In this half of the video we go over how we make the custom wheel arches on the Datsun in order to fit the 315/17 Toyo R888's under them. Make sure to come back for part 2 because we will show the steps taken in order to mount the carbon fiber parts onto the car and some products we use as well.

Epic project man recon this beast is gona be one hell of a badass ride when it's done. I did up a 240z myself years ago and I still regret selling it. I was rocking hart racing wheels made a wild custom body kit for it but the my favorite custom touch was the R33 tail light's I grafted onto it that little body mod would really suit this z to I recon
Gah Dammit!!! Am i the only person who wants more than a 20 min video... shit!! feel like I need more of the small welding and details that make the whole thing come together.... :(
I guess the consensus from the poll is that we love the build and honestly no one on YT is doing anything this rad.. expect for Bisforbuild... but unlike him you guys cant post everyday so that why we want longer videos showing more of the carbon moldings or even custom fab stuff. KEEP it up

Street Bandito i'm a professional editor myself and i have to say you have a nice flow. keep the relevant stuff in, irrelevant out. jump cuts fit well! also i enjoy that i can actually see and hear what's going on and not being blasted with fast cuts for effect. i really like that. a bit like walking around in your shop myself.

Think I would have waited on any paint work until all the grinding and welding was complete. Right before bonding the panels on, so you still had full access to the inside. Looks like it's going to be a hell of a car still.

I am in full support of the conservative wheel diameter on that kind of classic Japanese car. They look weird when you tub them to fit anything larger, plus you don't get much performance benefit out of it that you wouldn't have gotten from just installing wider wheels and tires at a size that fits easier. Plus, those wheels look great, so there's no reason to change them.

I like the old Mercedes 300 sl and since they are unattainable I would love to see a kit based on the original design. The 300 has a tube frame so it would be a good candidate..I would like to make the body from carbon fiber instead of fiber glass .I think that it would be kind of similar to what people do to the old Porsche 911.

As a pilot student myself I need to mention that it would look much better with another design on the winglets.
Search for 737 MAX AT WINGLET , but flip it the way around like this <
Have it flat like you guys have now, but change the winglet design.
It will have a huge impact from aerodynamic point of view.
I think it would look much more aggressive with a winglet like that too.

What about the ET ?? Have you widened the wheelbearings to keep the center mass of the wheels in the middle ? If not the bearings wil be under allot of stress...

What are you using to seal the inner fenders. What is the best way to attach carbon panels to steel and aluminum. I’m going to make a carbon dash for my Land Rover.

What is the name of the tool called that Tim uses to grind down to bare metal? It makes fast work of it whereas my grinder is bulky and takes off too much metal. And what brand of etch primer does he use?

Remember a good sports car lesson .Porsche thru the decades always just did porsche listening to nobody " but its design and the driver. Datsun in fear of losing lots of sales numbers. Started listening to every one , but , the original design or the driver.And we got the ZX so bloated and out of shape they had to turbo it to get it to move .They changed their name, just lost the first series car guys' completely, standing there empty handed.
Be a "Porsche" !!! But drive a Datsun Z...
