    I put 200,000 miles on my 04, much of it with a passenger and pulling a trailer. Tires, fluids and a set of plugs. That's all she needed. Finest motorcycle I've owned in 45 years of riding.

    Nice review Jamie, thank you! France is the second main market for the Goldwing after the USA. 20% of the Goldwings sold here are actually used as taxis in Paris. The taxi companies love the old Goldwing because of its huge storage capacity, the comfort of the passenger seat, and the distance between the passenger and the rider. So the new Goldwing won't certainly fit them as well as the old one. But as a normal rider, I personally prefer the new one, as it looks much more dynamic and modern.

    Great vid Jamie! you are the only one I've seen who actually showed the 2017 next to the 2018 and compared them. Great shots and explanation on the double wishbone suspension as well: once again unique and not seen elsewhere. Keep this up!

    I probably wouldn't buy one, but I have the dream of grabbing one of these and do a US coast to coast.

    Thank you, Jamie, for this awesome review. I got spoiled going from a Honda Superhawk sports bike to a Harley Davidson Fatboy. As I approached 60 I figured it was time to leave the sports bikes to the kids. Man, this bike has the best of two worlds integrated so seamlessly! I would love to take one of these on a state-to-state U.S. tour, just spend an entire year or so just touring.

    Have to admit, it is nicer than the old one, and definitely a bit slicker looking. I wouldn’t kick it out of the garage if one was in there. Nice review as always Jamie 👍

    The new front suspension looks brilliant for a large bike... probably a lot of weight but probably the new top of the line in big touring bike suspensions (where weight is not as big a deal).

    Great review!! Thanks for taking the time on the details like the suspension and motor. So many have just glossed over them even at the same venue. Fantastic...Dealers in the area close too home are doing reveals this Saturday, can't wait to see and touch!!

    Definitely need to test ride one of these. As a rider who never has a passenger I doubt I would buy one, my preference is for Sport Touring. Given the typical demographic of GW owners I can see why they elected to make the bike smaller and lighter, a lot of GW riders are a bit older and that old 900lb GW can be a problem for aging riders. There has been a trend as of late with older riders moving to smaller bikes for this reason.

    I love it but I have reservations on the panniers . They should of had them load from the top like the Guzzi California Vintage. I have a CTX1300 with similar panniers and it can be tough loading trying to get everything lined up to close.

    The constant movement towards larger cc engines is ridiculous. I own an older BMW R1100RT and it has more than enough power for ANY type of highway cruising. The same was true of my old 1996 Harley Electra Glide with a 1340cc engine. Where does this end? Do we all need a V-8 454cu in motorcycle engine next?

    As Honda has down sized the Wing it may be interesting to compare ride quality between the Wing and an ST 1300. I'll bet there isn't much in it on ride quality between the two with the big differences being down gadgets. On the subject of gadgets, and on a more personal note, I've always wondered if one had to have a propeller beanie to ride a Wing with all the gadgets and gizmos that it has.

    well you say it's not the same as the BMW, but... it is, well it's the same as an old BMW r1100 anyway... It's the same as a BMW telelever system, it may not be the same design, but it's the same concept and works in exactly the same way.

      Exactly what I was thinking. I had an RT 1100 it ride so good I almost fell asleep a few times coming home from a 14 hour shift. Then it started to cost money in excessive maintenance,in my opinion. 77,+++ great miles before I sold it though.

    Waaay less storage that the older model. From 150 litres to just 110. That's a HUGE difference. A lot of old Wing lovers won't buy it.

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And a lot will because of the smaller size and lighter weight that make the bike easier to handle, especially for an older rider. The aftermarket will fix the luggage space issue soon enough.

    Well, it's about new goldwing! I will say so he is a simple motorcycle is good but not so stylish that old goldwing then? Since there are very few buttons on the console, it's too easy, it's bad, and even the rear passenger is very uncomfortable holding in the know that it can be repaired, but there are very few extra parts in the online store.

    I had a 2014 Kawasaki Concourse 14, great for long distance touring like the Goldwing, but to heavy for riding in the city. So I got a 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000LT in black and I love it, what do you think MotoGeo ?

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, usually Connie riders don't want to give up the power to go to a smaller bike (the Concours 14 is a REALLY fast bike by any measure). I actually found the Versys 1k to be maybe a little tall for my liking, and I ride a Versys 650. I've also sat on a few Connies and they are just as top heavy as the FJR, they are great when moving, but remind you just how big they are every time you stop.

    It does not have enough storage. Period. Its a solo bike. Whatsd the point of lightening the bike if I must pull a trailer? Again Hoina provides a substandard GPS. I prefer a Garmin mount built in so you could buy a standalone Garmin and upgrade it as time passes.

    Was all ready to trade My ST1300 until I saw this Bike at Honda’s Daytona Bike week display. Epic fail for me on the range and storage. I really think Honda is going to have to offer a Grand Tour at some point. Why they never refreshed the ST is really a shame. BMW offers the R1200RT and the K1600GT(L). Both are similar in options with the obvious difference being the engine. The ST would have made a great entry level tourer with just a few minor upgrades/options. Plus it’s definitely easier on the wallet. With this new Gold Wing offering my ST became my favorite long distance STeed again. As for the BMW K1600GTL it just became a whole lot more competitive as well.

    Bye-bye K1600GTL Executive, hellooooo 2018 Goldwing. We most probably won't get it here in South Africa for it will be too expensive due to our weak currency and the panniers full of different taxes the government imposes causing vehicles to cost double to triple in other markets. Honda no longer sell big road bikes here apart from the Fireblade. And of course BMW dominates the market here, so much so that Kawasaki could not even unsettle them with their cheaper GT1400. Sigh.....
