Hi Darren, like me now knee pads are a must at my age. Thanks for this as I am about to re coat a flat roof on my sun lounge. It’s original tuff stuff so I will key it with 90 clean off with alcohol then re coat. Cheers 👍🏆
Great video not rushed, showing and explaining everything for us DIY guy's. Makes it so much easier to have a go.Thankyou fella im doing my mams soon. Great job you done as well. Just subscribed 👍👍
Nice job. I had fiberglass fitted in a kitchen extension 5 years ago and it seems to get very dirty and when i checked and cleaned it some areas have slight peeling on the top layer. I have pyramid type sky lights and a bit of a complex roof. Not sure if i should get a pro in to do it or have a go myself. I've heard using the acetone is very very important.
That topcoat has peeled because the original topcoat wasn’t applied on the same day as the fibreglass went down. And probably wasn’t keyed and acetoned before topcoating. That’s what I think anyway. I’ve been fibreglass roofing for 20 years now and I’ve seen it a million times.
Great video thank you regarding the mixing and temperature, do you do enough then mix some more i assuming it depends on the outside temperature it that makes sense. Also who would you go to for supplies?
Great video, learned a lot. When the resin goes hard in the bucket can you just peel it out, how would you clean the rigid metal roller that you couldn’t find? Thanks 🙏
Hello brother i have a large roof and the top coat has cracked in big patches all over what product to you use for top coat and should i sand the whole roof and acitone before painting many thatnks love your vids
When you cut out the fibreglass for the repair, we’re both repairs because of water underneath or just because the original fibreglass hadn’t stuck to the board ?
I'd wear a mask to breath in the minimal amount to dust, and just put the dusting on fast record, then talk about what you did afterwards. Thinking about your health. Stay safe.
I used to work as a flat Roofer 35 years ago when it was a loose layer of fibre glass felt onto the plywood followed by two layers of felt stuck with hot bitumen and chipping on top or even silver reflective paint.
Thanks, Darren, for de-mystifying the process. I feel much more comfortable with tackling our roof now.
thanks am a roofer for 49 years took on my first fibreglass roof repairs this week after watching your vid once again thanks
Fantastic job Darren. Makes me feel confident to have a go at treating my roof.
If someone said I was sanding that whole roof by hand I think I would have jumped off the side lol. Fair play buddy, nice job
lol its not for the faint hearted thats for sure
@@darrenthebuilder keep up the good work pal
Only for men
Darren, you explained it all very well. Thank you for that.I've never seen this kind of roofs , the most roofs have tiles here in Holland🇳🇱.

Great video ,,👍
What kind of roller do you use
Looking good......
Is this a yearly application ?
Excelente video 👍 saludos 👊
Boss job Darren lad 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If you just reciting it is one coat enough or should I do 2 and do I need to sand the first coat before applying the second?
You don’t need to resand. Just do the next coat within a day. Ideally after 1 hour or so once it’s dry.
I need this doing on my roof, how do I book you?
Excellent video. How long will that coating last?
Should last 10-20 yrs
great job great video
Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it

And steel toe cap boots high viz gloves risk assessment method statement tool box talk and put red tape around all surrounding areas.
Hi Darren do you cover west London ?
at 35 minutes i really enjoyed the video at the fastest playback speed of 2.
Professional 👍
Can you fix my fibre glass roof. I live in Stratford?
Hi Darren, love your videos. Do cover north west london area as I need to do mine ?
Did you do it yet?
Hi, is the same Cureit catalyst used for resin and topcoat or 2 different sorts? Thanks
Hi yes it is the same catalyst
Do you need to fix areas of delamination? What's happens if you leave them?
yes you should. they could crack over time
Nice to know this roof has a Twenty year Guarantee.
Good job but i would of sealed around the pipes too
Thanks, i checked them all and they had been wrappeda round in fibreglass so they should be good
You sand it with a well used flappy disc on a four inch grinder.
Thanks. But what are those mushrooms at 3:22? I see a lot of them
They are vents for the roof void.
@@darrenthebuilder ah! To prevent damp and mould?
My ocd was kicking in because you never painted the ridge tiles aswell because my brain was saying they’re not the same colour they don’t match 😂😂

You can’t just apply top coat to a surface, this will flake again, cut out the damaged areas and what you did was great with the Matt and resin,
According to the manufacturer you can once keyed with sand paper. The damaged areas were cut out and repaired. 👍🏾
If I was the original contractor I would not be happy to pay for scaffolding to repair a roof that has only been constructed less than 20 years ago.
How long did it take you to sand the whole roof down?
maybe an hour and a half
@@darrenthebuilder Wow... that's super impressive!

Mate, you need a better brush! 😂
Hi Darren are you based in London? I need a repair on my fibreglass roof, I’m based in Wembley Park, let me know if you can, many thanks
Could have done without the awful clickity click musak at the end.
The “clickity click MUSAK” is to ward off people who don’t like “clickity click MUSAK” from the video.
