    Nice to see expert at work, just wondering if the new board’s thickness is same as the old, why it’s not level? Water will stay within the new patch?

    • @Orikix

      Had the same thought, but if you see at 8:20 the water can escape.

    In hindsight, do you wish you’d packed up the joist work below the new osb so that the finished repair was level with the area around it?

    Good repair there buddy but did you check under the lead flashing to see how they sealed underneath the lead they should of used a grp upstand and flashed up the chimney at least 150mm but it was a terrible installation of that grp system, also those wires i think they looked like tv ariel wires should not of gone through the roof like that you would never make them water tight great video cheers

    Great job. I noticed how the bit you replaced looks a lot smoother than the existing roof. These systems aren't really for the average diyer

    It would have been better to make the repair level with the existing roof, now the water will pond. Did you acetone after sanding? Recommend to get rid of dust and achieve a better adhesion the topcoat.

    Cold roof with no ventilation makes me think it’s an old pre-regs build. May I ask how old the build was for GRP to be failing like that?

    Top video mate.
    Could you make a fibreglass flashing 3-500mm that runs off a skylight/lantern then onto another roof. Be it metal or something else. I’m installing a lantern onto a metal roof and was thinking of doing a fibreglass custom flashing to stop any water ingress

    Hello, I think that the money you have spent will mabey cure the leak short term but as you have made a roof pond it will cause problems in the future. Yes it is hard to patch and get a level deck but the lip at the front end of the repair will stop the water from entering into the gutter, not totally but any lip that causes water to pool can freeze in winter expand and cause a failure in your repair. Still your work is clean and you seem to be on the right track just tweak improve and be proud in your work.😊👍

    • @keekakoo8152
      @keekakoo8152 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. I have exactly as you mentioned a pond, as the lip stops water going into the gutter. Its quite new roof and no leak but I would like to repair it - flaten it. what would you recommend ?

    • @asroofingservices
      @asroofingservices 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the fiberglassing is done correctly the roof will not leak, don't waste money trying to rectify it , only if your looking onto it and you can see water pond then maybe it will be annoying.

    • @ge2719
      @ge2719 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      water sat on top of a fiberglass lip will freeze? and? the water would need to be under the fiberglass, in between the pieces of wood to cause and damage. or in between the old and the new layer of fiberglass. but now they are essentially one layer with that top coat of epoxy.
      Flat rooves can literally have water on them 24/7 and be fine.
      fiberglass is what boats are made out of. that literally sit in water 24/7.

    Looks good is that top coat silicone and can the fiberglass go over the silicone and then you put a top coat of silicone is that how that works

    • @darrenthebuilder
      @darrenthebuilder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi i dont think the top coat is silicone based. You would have to sand it back first if you wanted to fibreglass over it. I hope this helps.

    My garage roof isn't very old but with snow, it has leaked a little bit with the water been held on it. Would retop coating it fix the problem?

    • @dalturbo
      @dalturbo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you got it fixed but if not you would need to find where it's leaking first. It may have pin holes or cracks that will need sanding down and recoating with resin and matting. The base coat should always be watertight in my experience. Top coat gives it protection and the colour.

    • @darrenthebuilder

      Yes you can. Once it dries in the bucket the residue tends to peel off is one bit piece quite easily. It doesn’t stick to the bucket. It may be the specific bucket lining.
