FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this action-comedy, unusual circumstances find big, brawny cop John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) posing as a kindergarten teacher in order to apprehend major drug lord Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson), as well as his ruthless accomplice and mother, Eleanor (Carroll Baker). While pretending to be a kid-friendly instructor, Kimble falls for pretty fellow teacher Joyce Palmieri (Penelope Ann Miller) as he battles both unruly children and dangerous bad guys.

Exactly. The movie starts off by giving people the impression that this is going to be another one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's action movies and then it takes that trope and goes in a completely different direction for the rest of the movie.

When you really look back on it, this was such a fascinating movie. Who was it made for? Action fanatics? Kids? It had humor, family themes, violence....and Cindy totally dies of an overdose later. Lots of death. And drugs. Just crazy bipolar film. I watched it when I was in elementary school.
Idk good point…. but back in the 90’s when it was either you watch what’s on live TV or you watch a VHS…. This movie stayed in rotation at my house since we had it on tape. I was literally 3 years old watching this all up until technology improved when I got to middle school.

This is what Arnie would have been like had he been given the part of Kyle Reese and if Lance Henriksen got the part of the Terminator instead.
I think Arnold was offered the role of Kyle Reese but he turned down because he wants the Terminator role so much. So, James Cameron casted him as Terminator and Michael Biehn got Kyle Reese

I think Lance Henriksen's vibe would have been more along the lines of the T-1000, due in no small part to the difference in his and Arnold's physique. Would have been interesting to see, but I think they made the right choice.
Keep in mind they initially wanted to cast O.J. as the Terminator. Imagine how that would have worked out lol.

I used to work and sometimes hang out at the mall where the beginning of this was filmed. I went everywhere Arnold’s character went. It was quite surreal, but really cool to see a place where arguably the worlds greatest action star filmed a movie!
