- John Kimble is a tough city cop who's been on the trail of drug dealer Cullen Crisp for years. He finally tracks Crisp down but it seems the only person that can testify against him is his ex-wife. The problem is she's disappeared and all Kimble knows is the name of the school in Oregon where her son attends. When things don't quite go to plan, Kimble finds he has to go undercover on his toughest assignment yet - Kindergarten teacher!

That’s some great foreshadowing, isn’t it? Arnold spends the whole movie telling everyone he doesn’t bite, and finally, at the very end, he bites Crisp and saves Arnold’s life.
It reminds me of the movie beethoven when the vet is about to shoot beethoven but before he can a jack russell runs up and bites him in the crotch
I was just about to say the same thing without him everyone would be 😵

Just another reminder, in this movie Arnold is not a commando or a killer robot or a movie character brought to life. He is just a normal guy that's concerned for the safety of a kid that is not his.

That’s the whole point to my msg.
Now I am a bit faint of heart.
But seeing this at 19 was a bit intense.
So I’m sure when you were 5 watching this you were nearly terrified so bad that it almost cost a trip to the hospital.
But what shocks me is that they had a poster for this movie at the children’s hospital in 1999.
I mean the movie is even rated PG-13. Why would a children’s hospital be showing posters of PG-13 movies???
And this is supposedly one of the best children’s hospitals in the nation.
"I'm his father, you stole him from me!" I agree with majority of people, this guy sees his son not as a person but as property.

They have three very strong different women in this scene. Rachel/Joyce may seem a bit " damsel in distress" but she's devoted mother and teacher. Her character is only 26. Then we have Phoebe bad ass with a bat honestly my favorite line in entire movie " You're not so tough without your car are ya?!"I can relate to her because I'm also constantly eating but svelte. Then finally Eleanor, she's evil but still fabulous.
If this was made today the ads would push as a "girl power" movie to shove it in our faces yet it deals with girl power like you said subtly. The A league of our Own tv series just released is doing the same thing and it looks too spoonfed and cliched.

@Stink Face Lapusso You can be evil and fabulous. Maleficent, Ursula, truthfully most of the Disney villains. Bellatrix Lestrange and the Marquise de Merteuil ( Les Liasons dangereuses) too. You might be more familiar with the 🇺🇸 1990s version of that character, Kathryn Merteuil ( Sarah Michelle Gellar) from Cruel Intentions. I agree if a real life person is charming, intelligent, stylish & even very beautiful but also abhorrent human beings they are not fabulous. Eva Braun comes to mind. The First Lady of North Korea, Ri Sol-ju is another despicable example. Most wives of dictators’ are arm candy.
It's amazing that although you have Arnie in your movie, he didn't get the one liner.

I had forgotten just how great Carroll Baker's performance as a stone-cold mother/grandmother was. Even after finding out that her beloved, deified son is dead it takes her just a few moments to win back her composure. For a comedy, this was quite a showdown.
Why maintain composure.
I absolutely love her role. As a kid, I always liked her & thought the outfit was cool. And now, as an adult, I understand entirely why.
She felt like a powerful woman in her own right. Even if she played the antagonist, she did an incredible job portraying an intelligent, cold, calculated, powerful woman as well.
I love Eleanor Crisp played by Carroll Baker. Amazing performance 👏🏼

People have said after this scene, Kimble retired from being a cop and got a job at the Astoria Elementary School as a teacher while Phoebe O'Hara continued her job as a cop. Is all this true?

@@jldog134 It's still unknown because it was never mentioned whatever Kimble and Phoebe did after completing the case on Cullen Crisp whether Kimble retired and Phoebe continued as a cop because after the hospital scene it showed Kimble coming to the school where the principal was waiting for him and he greeted his students if he was in the hospital for many weeks and visited to show that he's out or if he visited California again after returning back to his home state of Oregon. However earlier in the movie he did tell Joyce/Rachel that he wished he was a Kindergarten teacher and not a cop so it could be a chance that he got a job in the school as a Kindergarten teacher just not having the same students because it showed their real teacher was back. It's too bad nothing was mentioned about him and Phoebe but, all we know about Phoebe was that she was marrying her chef fiance Henry inviting Kimble to their wedding which he agreed.
Kimble also retired as a teacher by the time that God awful sequel came out.
@@frankieeloi425 I never saw the second film but, it sounds like it was mentioned on the second film that Kimble retired as a Kindergarten teacher. It sounds like the second film doesn't pick up after the events of the first film where the second film is a different story involving a different person. All I know is that Arnold Schwarzenegger is not on the second film.

Had they done a sequel it could have been Kimble babysitting. Maybe it could involve his son.
Did he really need to be spoon fed by the nurse? His arms were fine, it's his leg that was injured. Sure he was shot in the shoulder, but he's not even in a sling from that. So he seems to be just fine from that.
He was also treated for a brain toomah, and thus needed the aid of a nurse for food eating.

Kimble really got nailed by Domick's grandmother. And, there's a surprising amount of blood in this scene. Usually, gunfights are bloodless in films rated less than R, but this shows bloody results from gunshot wounds, despite the PG-13 rating.

Back in the 80s and 90s, the minimum threshold of bloody scenes to make a film R-rated were much higher compared to now. The standards have lowered the threshold today.

I like both the actresses and their roles, but Linda Hunt showed that even though she is little, she is one tough lady! @Adam Ortiz It seems like Kimble has not been very nice to Henry the moment he met him since he never smiled nicely when he met him and saying how he didn't recognize him with clothes on sounded very impolite. Perhaps Henry felt that Kimble was not very impolite and got his revenge on Kimble by injuring his leg even more but still wanted him to attend his wedding.

@@scotthayes5933 Yes the school can do that but, mainly it was her son Cullen Crisp who caused damages setting the school on fire since nobody knew he did it. Even if they knew he did it, the school couldn't do anything about it anymore since he died. Perhaps O'Hara didn't care about suing her because she and Kimble were mainly after Cullen Crisp who was now dead feeling that the case was now closed.
