Funny that you would mention not tightening the flywheel. I once thought I blew up a saw because it wouldn't turn over! Turns out it was the flywheel. Pretty funny experience, lesson learned. (except when it's not haha)

Love the content brother, but I need to see that 372 build. I know it’s going to be a epic series of videos. Arguably the best work saw ever build.

After watching this series, you inspired me to pull my 266xp off the shelf and give it a try. (new to this). Saved the original in case I need it. Being a raw beginner I got my parts from amazon (cheap) to try this. After all day in the shop the porting is done and here are my numbers. Ex opens @ 105 ATDC closes @ 77ABDC Intake opens @ 75 BTDC closes @ 77 ATDC Transfers open @ 126 ATDC. Squish 20 thou. with no gasket. I need 272 carb bolts and to port a muffler to finish, I think. fingers crossed. Thanks again for the inspiration and help to try this. Great Channel by the way.

It's always good to spend a few minutes with you in the shop. I'm curious what made you pick Opti 2? And at what ratio you mix. I know Ironhorse says 40:1, but I've always run 50:1. What do you think?

Tinman: I know this is slightly off-topic but, I bought a vintage 288xp powerhead off EBay. Surprise! The seller lied about the fact it could run. Not wanting to bother going through the EBay bitch experience, I simply decided to rebuild the saw since I enjoy doing it and the saw is a great saw. My question is: everyone says use Caber rings. So, I bought a bunch of Caber rings which fit the cylinder diameter. But, even using the piston ring plastic press jig I couldn’t get any of the Cabers in the damn cylinder. So I used a Metsor ring and piston went right in. Spoke to my dealer and he said something about how you have to “fit” Caber rings, I guess by removing a slight amount of material from the prongs which touch near that gas port on the piston. Is my dealer right? Do Cabers need to be fitted??

I would think that a quick trip to the lathe would eliminate the clearance issue on the flywheel. Twenty-thirty thou for insurance purposes. Iffn you cut the base, cut the flywheel. Easy-peasy. Go ahead and admit that you built this saw to test the pipe……

Awesome build tinman as always!! I found a jonsered 625 at my local dump that needs a new top end. Do you know if I can put a 272 top end on it?

Hyway 52mm big bore is probably the nest bang for the buck. You can check them out at wolf creek saw shop that's where I get mine from.
