    Madonna of the Desert is an ivory statue embedded with jewels and natural the gangsters are out to steal it. Nick (Sheldon Leonard) enlists his girl Monica (Lynne Roberts) to heist the Madonna for him, but there is more to this little statue than meets the eye. Madonna of the Desert is an entertaining movie with one of Hollywood's most recognizable screen tough guys Sheldon Leonard. The attractive Lynne Roberts plays the tough broad that's out to steal the Madonna. Also in the cast is Don Castle the handsome "B" actor who had a slight resemblance to Clark Gable. Castle died from a drug overdose at the age of 47. If you like film noir you must see Madonna of the Desert.

    Yes, that is very true. Then they try to figure out where they "picked up that bug?". (Virus or other illness). WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE RETURNING TO WORK AFTER USING THE BATHROOM -- Wasn't something someone just pulled out of a hat to have something to do! It applies to when you are at home or a friend or relative's house also. Germs are indiscriminate. You invite them they are happy to come and do their damage!

'B' films were made as such, to fill that slot. This film is very good, and is also a 'B' film.

Those film noir actresses had it tough, constantly getting slapped around or mugged with a forced kiss on their mouth. Great film noir that ended with a shoot-out tying up the loose ends. "I'm the one that's gonna get hurt?" Pow. I played it back because it was so funny.

    CHISTIANS DON´T WORSHIP STATUES. THIS IS ANOTHER CON JOB COOKED UP BY THE SATANISTS IN HOLLYWOOD.

    • @janegarner6739
      @janegarner6739 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Satanists"? Although I'm not sure exactly when the belief that Roman Catholics worshipped statues was first suggested, the accusation has been commonly used by various Protestant sects for several centuries to discredit non-Protestant Christian sects, primarily the Roman Catholic Church. My mother was a Baptist, very devout, & I was brought up in her religion, had to attend church at least once a week (usually twice, occasionally three times) until I left home at 17. My grandfather was the founder of our small country church (Northern Missionary Baptist, aka Cherokee Baptist unofficially) & was its first minister/preacher. Although references to the idea that Catholics worshipped idols/statues weren't a primary point in sermons, this belief was occasionally brought up in Sunday sermons, the point being that the Catholic faith was not the "true faith" but that the "born-again" Protestant faith was the only true one.
      Perhaps I am mistaken I'm assuming that your views are similar to those of my mother's denomination, but the belief that Catholics worship statues/idols is common to many Protestant denominations. What this has to do with "Satanism" in Hollywood, though, is another matter. If you mean to say that this supposed Satanism was promoted by Hollywood producers of the past when many producers were Jewish, you apparently understand little about Judaism. Traditional Judaism has opposed worship of idols & statues since centuries before the birth of Christianity, as is made clear in any version of the Old Testament. Jewish synagogues don't contain statues, nor have they in past centuries, & Judaism is very clear on this matter.
      It's true that in Hollywood films of the studio era tended to show more movies with a (usually vague, but not always) Catholic slant, this has nothing to do with Judaism or the Jewish producers own religious views. It probably has something to do with the influence of the Catholic directors, actors, & the fact that theatre audiences tended to be Catholic majority as opposed to any particular Protestant denomination. The Protestant sects were divided among various kinds of Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, & other denominations, none of which entirely agreed with the others.
      So exactly who do you think was a Satanist in Hollywood, who do you think was promoting Satanism via film? "Satanism" has many different definitions, even as it is defined in the early 21st c. U.S. & even as it is defined by Christians. It's not clear exactly what your definition is, though I think you're probably referring to both non-Christians & to Roman Catholics as Satanists. Maybe you think anyone who does not agree with your own beliefs is a Satanist.
      Contrary to the popular (usually Protestant Christian) idea that Catholics worship statues/idols, any Catholic would deny such an accusation. But as someone who isn't Catholic & who was brought up in a very basic "born again" Baptist church, I can see how an outsider might assume that Catholics worship statues, for we are looking at this from an outsider's view & if you don't understand the deeper meanings of the rites you might make many incorrect assumptions.
      In my mother's church we were taught that Catholics were not going to Heaven because they didn't believe as we did in asking (pleading) for Jesus's forgiveness & our salvation. In that view, no one was "saved" except those who believed as we did, those who became "born again", although in my mother's church we were also taught that there were a few exceptions to that rule---namely, children who were too young to realize that all people were sinners & must plead for salvation from their personal Savior (children who died before reaching that age of realization), also those people who had never heard "the true teachings of Jesus" & who died without knowing. Also included in the views taught in my mother's church was the view that all those who were born Jewish were included among those who were admitted to Heaven, simply by virtue of being God's chosen people. As the Chosen, they were God's children by birth. This view isn't held, as far as I know, by any other Christian denomination.
      BTW, as you might have guessed, I didn't remain a member of my mother's church, nor am I a Christian. My main problem with the various Christian denominations is that they each claim to be the only true religion, claim theirs is the only true god & the only true way, & that all those who don't convert to their way are condemned to Hell. This is too similar to the traditional bully who demands that everyone agree with him or else. The Christian sects have been fighting over who's right for centuries, & the Christians have been battling the Muslims for even more centuries over which one is the true faith. Too many millions have died as a result. Conflict is inevitable when someone claims to be absolutely right without question, to demand that everyone agree with them or else.
