And don’t you dare say the casting doesn’t matter when we got descriptions of the characters time and time again in each book. The time periods were important, Lestat being young when he turned Louis WAS IMPORTANT TO THEIR DYNAMIC and why they argued and one reason he was afraid Louis would leave him. I’ve read Vampire Lestat so much the book is falling apart and all of them about the same. This is just…this looks like hastily made offal to get a penny off of her books while they have the rights because Anne recently died and stick a poker in the wounds of the fans who have waited for an accurate depiction but instead we get this.
Standing O for this comment. It looks to me like they left Lestat white since he is sort of a villan. I'm noticing a pattern in entertainment now. Where the villans remain white and PoC are the heroes. White characters are killed off more than PoC characters.
Why? This is more proof Hollywood has lost it's creativity. In case Hollywood doesn't know, Anne wrote more than one book. Why not continue the story that has already started?
@@fiofiofioletta1898and? Original creators ruin their works all the time. Also yea, big surprise she was on board with wokeness, considering everyone is forced to be so.
Sure, why not do a re-imagining of the story. The novel remains my favorite vampire story of all time. A towering achievement. Maybe the series will bring some new readers to the book.
If you're going to rewrite the story, then have the decency to rewrite the title too. Don't slap Interview with the Vampire on this and call it a remake, when you completely deviated from the original story.
These comments never fail to surprise me. Imagine living in 2022 and not being capable enough to put your bigotry and prejudice views aside to do something as simple as enjoying a tv show. I’m sure most of y’all haven’t even given the show a chance to even have an opinion on it. Smh
The Interview with the Vampire movie felt more dark and damp, the lights came from lamps and candles, unless it was a very grand occasion where the lights where bright, this trailer has lots of bokeh shots in the background and it kind of feels like a scene from the Leonardo Dicaprio version of "The Great Gatsby" movie.
If only we'd get a faithful adaptation of the Chronicles and not one in name only. From reviewers it seems they've changed so much from characters to settings to events to even how Anne Rice vampires work that they might as well have just made their own story and characters to begin with (such as vampires being able to be awake during the day and unharmed as long as sunlight doesn't touch their bare skin, Lestat apparently being able to stop time, modern Louis living in Dubai (and having been the owner of a brothel....), Claudia aged up to 14 played by a 19 year old actress...etc...
@@deanivan3951 how about you read the book and get the idea who these characters really are. and tell me in this show if they hold up to that. without race swapping or making changes that wasnt in the book.

We do not need movies being remade every 20 years. WHY does Hollywood insist on doing this???? It's like they can't come up with original stories anymore. Worse thing is they're usually worse than the originals. Besides, there's plenty of stories in Rice's Vampire Chronicles that could be made instead of this!
They do this because Hollywood is run by non creative CEOs whos only purpose is to make money. They aren't in the business of creating new and exciting content. Besides, they have to recreate every movie ever made and make it seem like they are an equal opportunity employment.
Gonna get into this. Would love to see how a Marius and Amadeo (Armand) prequel could tie into this, would certainly correlate well with the sensual vibe of this.
This genuinelly could have been called anything else and we wouldnt have known the difference. It is always going to be compared to the origiunal movie which has a massive fanbase. But as its a series and they are stretching out the story we will have to wait until the show is released before we can really make a proper judgement on it. But from the trailer it just felt like another Vampire Diaries teen show.
absolutamente equivocado hay una grannnnnn diferencia. the vampire diaries lei el primer libro y lo deje me aburrio vi algunos cap de la serie para reencantarme y los deje por lo mismo
Emmm, is based on a book? So... They are not stretching the plot of the movie. They are re-adapting the book with more time to develope it's story... Also: Greyworm alone is sexier than Bran Pitt and T Cruise together. Bye
He's creole - mixed race - his family in the show owned plantations that's where their wealth comes from. But Louis in the show is also involved in the prostitution industry, which is all about taking advantage of desperate women, so this part of Louis' character is true from the books, it's really the most superficial of differences. The tone is extremely similar to the source material in a way the 1994 film wasn't.
Anne Rice was reported to have gotten with the production time leading up to the making of this. I'm not a fan necessarily, but clearly you aren't either. Now what would she be spinning for? 🤔
Why? Just.... Why? Why not just continue the story? Why ANOTHER remake? And why do they have to rewrite characters? What's wrong with sticking to the story? If you don't like the story, don't make a movie out of it. Make an original movie.
This is so weird! The timeline is screwed. Does this takes place in the 1900s? Isn't this the timeline where Louis met Lestat as a rockstar? My brain is confuse since I'm following the novel....😵💫
It takes place in 1910 and in 2022. In the books rockstar Lestat was in the 80's, and that could still have happened here (or hasn't happened yet). The original interview is still in the 70's though - the one in the show is a 2nd interview when Daniel is much older. There is a lot of mystery about what is going on in present-day, that's part of the story. The show is different in some ways from the books but in other ways also much closer to the books than the movie was. What's so exciting though about this adaptation though is that it's not as limited as the movie was, the show-runners have made it clear they are using ALL books in the Vampire Chronicles for inspiration, not just the first one. =D And they are already putting in place building blocks and foreshadowing what's to come.
"We have no ideas for a script left! Let's remake a classic story and a classic movie but superficially retconn the characters!" I'm still waiting for that remake of Blade with a ginger Scotsman in the lead...
This isn’t Anne Rice’s “Interview with a Vampire “ It’s only the names of the characters and mixing up the whole story line and off changing the ethnicities of the main characters, to fit a false narrative. It’s getting redundant in Hollywood and quite sad too.

Exactly. Lestat looks way older and this Louis' backstory changes his whole motivation for becoming a vampire. Don't even get me started on Claudia.
Standing O for this comment. It looks to me like they left Lestat white since he is sort of a villan. I'm noticing a pattern in entertainment now. Where the villans remain white and PoC are the heroes. White characters are killed off more than PoC characters.
Bailey Bass did a fantastic job playing Claudia such a talented actress.
Can Hollywood stop remaking masterpieces and shredding it to shits? Stop.
Guessing you never loved do deeply?
Are you calling the film with Tom and Brad a masterpiece? Serious? Your definitions of a masterpiece need to be reevaluated haha
Why? This is more proof Hollywood has lost it's creativity. In case Hollywood doesn't know, Anne wrote more than one book. Why not continue the story that has already started?
Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise just had that undeniable electric chemistry.
No, they didn’t. They made us think they did. That’s what acting is.
They never made out with each other. That was a plus
Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid have EXPLOSIVE chemistry

obsessed w this show now thank u
Coming Next Summer Blacula starring Johnny Depp
the originals were fantastic. haha he would do that also. no doubt. make it a tim burton project they would make fun of some things doing that. lolz.
Lmao it's not "DEI garbage" guys, watch the actual show before commenting. All the changes made it amazing, and season 2 is even better
This looks Twilight. Nothing beats the original. Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt forever.
You said it 👍
Someone should warn Edward....he might be next xD
People point out that Louis is black like *that* is the problem with this, not the immense changes to the book story.
Yes, agree, that's the very least that's wrong with it.
Sigh. Anne Rice was a PRODUCER. Her son still is. She was on board with all of the changes.
This series is nothing like the book.
The original movie was already about as faithful to the book as you can get in a single movie.
And judging from the trailer, this show is the exact opposite.
@@Midnight.Creepypastas But it's fun when fun is much needed in the world.

To the producers ... listen to the fans who have read these books...
This series pissed all over the original story. 👍🏼
JFC. Is Hollywood capable of a single original idea anymore?
Yes. All the time. Every day. You dont watch them and that is why they die.
Nope just lazy. They love swapping.
One word. Avatar! Doesn’t get more original than that.
It's going to take a lot to come close to an epic movie and arguably the best ever performances of both Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt..
Yeah but Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt's best performances aren't a very high bar. And Magnolia is Tom Cruise's best performance xx
@@podorf And Brad's best performance is Meet Joe Black :D
Their chemistry is everything in this show
Who?
Brad Pitt's best perfomance??? Are we really forgetting Fight Club and 12 monkeys?
(sarcasm) A fanfiction.... Great.
We all know the original is great
But instead of automatically criticizing give it a chance or just 🤫 negative comments all the time….. 🙄
As a fan of the original movie and books Im a little disappointed in the direction there going with this one😒
Can’t anyone come up with original stuff anymore?
Nope, they need to re-fry and ruin all the old goodies.
Na we just take characters and rewrite their skin color, then paint everything lgbt

Just finished this series, both seasons! EXCEPTIONALLY well done!!
Tom cruise and Brad Pitt is the best . Interview with the vampire.❤️

can they not leave anything alone ffs
This seems even less accurate (in terms of the original story) than the movie ... Anne Rice, we miss your infinite talent💙
Literally lost Me in the first 10 seconds lol
At least I'm not the only one.
If you're going to rewrite the story, then have the decency to rewrite the title too. Don't slap Interview with the Vampire on this and call it a remake, when you completely deviated from the original story.
No no you see, they have to COMPLETELY woke-ify it...just because.
Boohoo

Well this aged like milk
From reviewers it seems they've changed so much from characters to settings to events to even how Anne Rice vampires work that they might as well have just made their own story and characters to begin with (such as vampires being able to be awake during the day and unharmed as long as sunlight doesn't touch their bare skin, Lestat apparently being able to stop time, modern Louis living in Dubai (and having been the owner of a brothel....), Claudia aged up to 14 played by a 19 year old actress...etc...
nowadays it would have been impossible
The movie was quite accurate.
how can they think that they can compete with tom cruise, brad pitt, kristern dunst & antonio banderas....
This is never gonna top the Ho Yay between Pitt and Cruise
It is not supposed to. It is a TV show
That movie was one of those rarities that are not easy to see again.

nah man this show was way better than the movie.
Everyone in the comments butthurt because Louis and his family are black, don’t own slaves, and that there’s blatant homosexual content are all wimps with no taste. The show has just begun and it’s INCREDIBLE!! I’m a long time fan who adores the books-and I’m so happy with how this series has started
I'm waiting for Lestat story next season ☺️
We do not need movies being remade every 20 years. WHY does Hollywood insist on doing this???? It's like they can't come up with original stories anymore. Worse thing is they're usually worse than the originals. Besides, there's plenty of stories in Rice's Vampire Chronicles that could be made instead of this!
They do this because Hollywood is run by non creative CEOs whos only purpose is to make money. They aren't in the business of creating new and exciting content. Besides, they have to recreate every movie ever made and make it seem like they are an equal opportunity employment.
I'd actually love this "remake" if it was accurate to the book and planned to adapt the other novels as the seasons go on, that would be awesome.
Hate the contact lenses, Underworld's looked better
The movie was an insult to the books. The book has a massive fanbase, not the movie.
and the makers seem to be racists..like so many in Hollywood now..
Emmm, is based on a book? So... They are not stretching the plot of the movie. They are re-adapting the book with more time to develope it's story...
Also: Greyworm alone is sexier than Bran Pitt and T Cruise together. Bye
Can't you's leave well enough alone? 😠The First is best!! Always will be!! Tom and Brad and Antonio are INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE!!
Compared to this, True Blood is The Sopranos.
all you have to do is read the damn book and prepare the script according to the book :(
So how do they get around Louis (portrayed by a black actor) owning a slave plantation?
He's creole - mixed race - his family in the show owned plantations that's where their wealth comes from. But Louis in the show is also involved in the prostitution industry, which is all about taking advantage of desperate women, so this part of Louis' character is true from the books, it's really the most superficial of differences. The tone is extremely similar to the source material in a way the 1994 film wasn't.
Is that grey worm? Bloody hell, was wondering what he would do next. Will give this a go.
No no no!! This Louis is much too confident and capable what is going on?!! Where is the whiny brooding hopeless mess of a man that we love?!!!
Anne is spinning like a top... That's all I'm going to say...
Anne Rice was reported to have gotten with the production time leading up to the making of this. I'm not a fan necessarily, but clearly you aren't either. Now what would she be spinning for? 🤔
@@jdot714 Anne Rice is dead 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Why would she be spinning? She was aware of this adaptation…
It's getting beyond a joke now.
Why? Just.... Why? Why not just continue the story? Why ANOTHER remake? And why do they have to rewrite characters? What's wrong with sticking to the story? If you don't like the story, don't make a movie out of it. Make an original movie.
bro where did they change the plot. where
There’s actually a continuation it’s called:
Queen of the damned by Anne Rice
It’s not bad.
Even if it is, Anne Rice wrote the first 3 episodes so its as original as it gets.
Seen first season now. This IS a great show. Watch and form your own opinion.
"We have no ideas for a script left! Let's remake a classic story and a classic movie but superficially retconn the characters!" I'm still waiting for that remake of Blade with a ginger Scotsman in the lead...

It’s only the names of the characters and mixing up the whole story line and off changing the ethnicities of the main characters, to fit a false narrative. It’s getting redundant in Hollywood and quite sad too.
