Wow listening to Sam made me realise that the scene where Louis come to see Lastat in New Orleans in the s2 finale is the first time we have ever seen/met the REAL Lestat. Not a memory, not a dream or a recollection. The real Lestat.
and yet the real real Lestat has many emotions, this scene at the end of season 2 was a particularly low period in his life... we will get more of the REAL Lestat in season 3 🤩🥰🥵

@@anneelk9066 someone asked about that. Sam said that while the words were those of Lestat, the Dreamstat himself was shown in front of Louis. So, still wouldn't call it a real Lestat scene? That's what I understood from this interview

Yeah, Anne Rice was always fairly adamant that Lestat didn't have anything to do with it-but I distinctly recall coming away from the books with this distinct impression like he had and being very surprised to learn that she was so adamant he really hadn't, something about the way that Lestat was described[ watching Louis from a distance before he'd revealed himself so when Louis had no of know who or what was watching or some-such] and the way that what happened to Paul was described both using similar phrasing or something(it's been years though, I should reread and see if my impression might be different now or not).
The TV series, tho, I think doesn't really give that same impression at all though; so they did a good job with that. I don't think, if I'd only watched the tv series(and if Louis himself hadn't asked Lestat if Lestat had had anything to do with it), that I would have ever thought to wonder if Lestat possibly had. But then again, maybe I would have, without the book context also making vampire powers and limitations a little clearer to me to rule certain things out or not or whatever. I dunno.😁 🤔🤷🤷♀️🤷🏻♂️
It's difficult sometimes to parse out how much of what I'm getting from this is because I've also read the books, or how much is just the tv series all on its own, because I have read the books. 😂 (Not saying that's a bad thing at all though, just saying sometimes I wonder what it's like to watch it and have this be your first introduction to the Vampire Chronicles without knowing anything else; I just wonder how similar or how dissimilar the experience would be[, but of course I'll never really know personally, can only speculate]. Lol Maybe I just think too much, or something!😅😁😊)

@@liynne But I remember Anne Rice saying once that it had never occurred to her that people would ever think that Lestat had or might've actually done that? So... I don't remember, exactly how expressly did Louis wonder about it in the books? I thought it was more something that readers wondered about and frequently asked Anne about rather than something that Louis had actually wondered about in the books. For some reason, I didn't think Louis ever actually asked Lestat about it in the books? (I'm not sure how Anne Rice could say it had never occurred to her that people would ever think that Lestat might've actually done this if it was something she'd ever actually had Louis overtly wonder or be paranoid about in the canon text.😅) I thought Louis only ever actually asked Lestat about it in the tv series? (Likely just to preemptively put to rest one of the most freguently asked questions from the books, just in case viewers ever reached the same speculations while watching as readers did while reading.) But admittedly, it has been a while, and I am overdue for a reread; so maybe I'm misremembering certain details.

hearing jacob anderson call the rain scene shoot "the worst night of his professional career" when that scene had me sitting staring at my wall for DAYS is insane. so his absolute bottom baseline is just an award worthy performance. okay. cool.

I’m ashamed to say I never considered the deeper meaning of that scene! I thought it was a simple horror gross out effect and little more…how did I not realize that OF COURSE there’s meaning there! Thanks for sharing and jolting me from my bizarre comatose & passive viewing of a series that I full know is rich with meaning and symbolism, I really don’t know how I missed this!
I love them so much. Jacob and Sam have the most incredible chemistry, on screen and as friends off screen, it's just great to see them interact, and Delainey is amazing -- she's such a great Claudia.
Love Delainey. Can’t wait to see more of her work in the future.

Yes!!! because sadly the Season 1 blu-ray/DVD didn't really have any extras or anything like that. So I hope the Season 2 Blu-ray/DVD is full of extras this time.

i love that sam emphasises that we havent actually seen lestat yet so frequently. or at least, that what we have seen of lestat is louis or armands memory/perception of him.
the closest i feel like we've come to seeing the actual lestat is the letter he leaves louis because its his own writing. even though louis has dreamstat narrate it, its still lestats own words.
now do i think lestat is 100% as soft and loving as the letter paints him out to be - no. he, along with so many of the other characters on the show are wonderfully grey and layered. i guess it just gets me hopeful and excited to hopefully see things from his perspective one day 🤞

I feel like the first time we get to see actual Lestat is the end of season two finale, when Louis goes back to New Orleans during the hurricane 😢😮 Every other version of him, aside from the letter, is just recounts/memories of various people's perceptions of Lestat. Which is colored by their emotions. Hopefully season 3 will showcase Lestat's pov
i would happily sit and listen to these three breakdown each episode every week, they exude so much passion for this show

Hearing how genuinely hilarious the circumstances of the behind the scenes is so funny to hear but also makes me all the more fond of this show because I wouldn't have guessed, given how convincingly dead serious their performances are. The dedication and passion behind this series is a joy to see!

Each week I am more and more obsessed with them all! Absolutely SCREAMED out loud when we see in the last minute Lestat in the mirror and that "Lestat walk" ripping off his jacket at the end when Louis says "I can feel him near" 🥺😰😈
i was watching that scene with my friends for the first time and we all screamed and went crazy 😭 my friend’s sister came check on us like “are yall okay??”

okay so, about the birds. I think they represent insanity in the series, so Paul has birds who tell him things, when Louis hallucinates he hallucinates birds, AND. ARMANDS belief that Claudia is going to go insane and lose her grip over time, represented by him putting her *into* the "baby bird" role
And Claudia was given dead birds by Louie after Charlie died and she wasn’t eating and during that time there were birds on her diary
genuinely baffling that Jacob and Assad were split up for all of press when they should be together breaking down their fascinatingly complex relationship dynamic 🤨

Jacob is gorgeous! 🤤 Sam needs more parts. Lestat. Lestat. Lestat. 😂 He is the missing piece this season. The ghost of him isn’t enough. Their chemistry was UNMATCHED.
The small detail of this show just fucking blown away. I’m so happy theirs ppl out there that still care about delivering a great show. It’s been quantity over quality four years now with entertainment.

This is great. I wish it were three times as long so we could hear more of their thoughts, it's so interesting to hear actors talk about filming and how they view their characters.

I feel Lestat is for Lestat but he makes sure his people are good. Like leaving the theatre de vampire to the coven and what he leaves for Louis. He doesnt leave them completely hanging.

The rain scene is one of my favourite this season
I didn't think I would find another great show to watch after TWD but, IWA Vampire, took the CAKE this show is great keep me on the edge of my couch.... Lestat, is great he will always come back to Louie, an Louie will go to him . This show is so great Claudia was a brat in the beginning. I love this show can't wait for more. It needs to be around 15 episodes at least

I get the sense she’s an introvert. She had opportunities to jump in and contribute but she seemed to answer only questions that were explicitly directed to her.
I think she is shy, they are not taking anything away from her Infact them talking is helping her because I can see she will be very nervous taking for long, probably because she is an inexperienced actress, nothing wrong in that just that they are literally acting her shield for her

I agree with Jacob about Sam’s face when Louis asks him to say apple (at about the 7 min mark). Sam is a brilliant actor and it’s so obvious in that scene.
I think the bird they showed/talked about is louis in a way. I might be overthinking it 😅but to me Louis is treated like this pretty bird in a cage. I know that Lestat loves him and they are soulmates.
But Lestat does treat him like this fragile bird that he wants to cage. Armand also did the same when he was with him.😅

Even on the show it appears more reddish blonde. That's one of the differences between the show Lestat and book Lestat. Also, book Lestat was younger, more like early twenties. Sam is more early thirties Lestat. To me, none of that matters. I couldn't think of anyone else playing Lestat. Same with Assad Zaman playing Armand.
