I use currently use Deathwatch as a rules proxy for my Homebrew Chapter that I've been working on in some form or another since the late 90s, and after reworking my army list, I'm just happy to have 6 Helix Adepts on the table again. I play DW in Vanguard Spearhead, so by Christian's interpretation, I could push that up to 9, but I have other Agents Units allied, and couldn't bear to part with them.
Oh no, my Primaris killteams are so much scarier now the spectrus kill team can reliably get precision hits on characters, the talonstrike is expensive, but you should always have five heavy jump troops in the squad so the are always toughness 6, and my beloved Indominus kill team can now fit the entire aggressor and eradicator squad inside it, and what the Bolters can do even on a basic team! It probably isn’t the best thing to play but I’m happy with the changes.
It's crazy that they buffed all those bolter profiles. I was really hoping they'd make the spectrus team with more utility like having omni scrambler, haywire mines and reaver battleshocks. But at 200 points, I think we made out pretty good. Kinda feel the same about the Fortis Team. Like the eliminators the desolators and hellblasters are pretty cheap even without their unique unit abilities. They're probably going to be sidelined the most. Vets can be taken in 5 man units, are battleline and have better melee options
@ for fun games with friends I’m just glad that Fortis isn’t actively dragging me down, I think they might make a really good back line shooting unit so that way you don’t have to hold your death watch veterans or Indominus team back to standstill and shoot infantry. And yeah i like where Spectus is at. Buffing all of their mainly attacks makes them feel so much more viable. Out of all of the kill teams they’re the one I’m disappointed I can’t take in smaller squads. Talonstrike is so expensive but if get off deploying them from reserves and teleporting them back on to the board they could easily make that back up. The only glaring thing for me is still that we don’t have a generic watch captain data sheet. I’m fine with just repainting Chaplains and librarians to add them, but just a generic watch captain stat line because using a standard space marine captain or lieutenant still feels weird.
@Ruggedtoaster I think my favorite backline campers will still be what I've used before..5 terminators plus Ancient. 2 cyclones and a plasma cannon plus 2 hammer/shields. 12 oc, rerolls to charge, after someone dies I start hitting on 2s, they have the kill team tag.
I don't hate imperial agents. They just aren't a replacement for dw. They should include them like gk and sisters, but still have kept them as a standalone faction same as the other 2.
Small bit of shenanigans: the Imperial Agents Corvus Blackstar can transport 12 Deathwatch Infantry. It doesn't care what kind of armour they're wearing or whether they have jump packs.
I'm so ready to run 3 Indomnitor Kill Teams at all times. Maybe with added Indirect Fortis teams. All the teams really. Also, one use case for the Osseus Key is that Tau battlesuits are actually vehicles and can ruin their day if they fail the check! Retaliation cadre even basically enabling it.
I was very happy to read the index this morning. Not everything is perfect as you say... but it is still a start... hopefully we do get a new detachment at some point.
One thing I noticed is that the Watch Master’s CP discount ability has a different name from the same ability on the Space Marine Captain. So it appears that if you include both characters in your army you can get 2 discounted stratagems per battle round.
Once again, GW is introducing problems they had solved back in 3rd edition. Any Marine armed with a bolter or combi-bolter from an HQ, Veteran Squad or a Tactical Squad (Primaris didn't exist yet) could just upgrade to a Deathwatch Veteran. They'd gain True Grit, treating their bolters as one-handed, and have access to special ammunition. Not that difficult to use now, GW just wants you to buy an entirely new army.
O wa ted to see a codex with detatchments for different xenos enemies archetypes. Like an anti vehicle moster detatchment. An anti character and debuffing detatchment. Even an anti horde detatchment for dealing with like orks and small nids or even horde guard/gsc ect. Maybe another one that boosted toughness or survivability. Miss the old dominus aegis. 6in aura of invuln.
Got to say, weird that we lost the Kill Team with bikes but also are still restricted from taking bikes normally. Would of loved a Deathwatch version of bikes with deathwatch power weapons and deathwatch bolters that could use have the kill team keyword.
It seams like gw is ignoring primaries bikes atm and deathwatch not getting them is an end result from this. I still miss the days when the hp choices could take a bike/jump pack or terminator armor upgrade.
I noticed they changed the wording of the old teleportarium strat to say the teleported units go into strategic reserves instead of how it used to specify 'off the battlefield' so you can't get around the restriction of not being able bring them in first turn (althoughonly if your opponent went first)
They changed special ammunition so that you couldnt get anti-infantry 2+ on desolation marines, it is now limited to kill teams. Thats great, but wait, they added desolation marines to the Fortis Kill team .... (true you can only have 2 of them ... but they are there)
Mistreating Death Watch is par for the course. The fact that there is no Death Watch Kill Team, from whence the game got its name is absolutely insane.
wording on the blurb directly above the effects for Mission Tactics says that the Mission Tactics buffs only apply to units with the Mission Tactics keyword. the ambiguity here is a little confusing so i hope it gets cleared up about what's meant soon
The wording was the same as Index 1 so that confused me. In this case, regular codex SM units wouldn't get the detachment bonus? What will Adaptive Tactics do for an Adeptus Astartes unit if they don't have the Mission Tactics rule?
It depends on GW's understanding of "the same" Epic Hero. KT Cassius has a rule that says you can't include it and Cassius, so... maybe. Doesn't seem intentional. And you would have to use a codex SM detachment as the Blackspear prevents DW Agents units
I really wish for the "Past" bit at the start that you either put it through a Sepia filter or you put up on screen "These points were recorded on: XX/XX/XX". It feels a bit confusing other wise. I know you state it but it would just feel better. Heh, You could even of put a crackle filter on the audio to make it feel its from the past. Still love the video and WE ARE BACK!... Though we were never gone as we could always plays Legends of course... But now we are back... just more back!
Those effing ...... in the dev team! They STILL havent corrected the FORTIS KILL TEAM astartes chainsword weapon profile... its still reads WS 4+... 😅 Unbelievable.
@ChristianVonCarmian40kVtuber besides that, it feels more fitting. Every time a unit shoots, you choose one of the three ammunition types. The tactics as strats give you better flexibility in this instant, depending on the enemy a particular squad is fighting. Sure, maybe you nerf both a bit, for example, the tactics cant affect 2 squads at the same time, or hellfire rounds get anti infantry 3-4+, but yeah. Tho just my ideas for this
I actually think the buffs might be overcompensating a bit, I could see these point values getting nerfed really quickly. The sheer amount of quality in the deathwatch infantry is incredibly high now and Black Spear Task Force before being deleted was already fairly strong (just not popular, people were JUST starting to realize how good it was). I wouldn't be surprised if in 6 months everyone is complaining how OP Deathwatch is and it needs to be evened out a bit. Either way: WE ARE SO BACK LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO
I disagree. Non-codex compliant chapter should be locked to their own indexes. Balancing like 20+ detachments isn’t practical for space marines and I think it causes more problems if they don’t lock them out. Also they need to buff 1st Company and Anvil siege force majorly. They are garbage. Having a detachment based around standing still is just awful, it is why they changed the Born Soldiers detachment rule. (That and it only benefits artillery. L)

I find it really funny how all three of your Main armies all fight each other
if you play all sides, you always win!
@ sounds awfully Tzeench-y
deathwatch should have a killteam in killteam

I'm here for the cute vampire and sisters content. But I'll still liking and commenting to up the algo. :3

Index 2, revenge of the index. So now that there is literally no reason to Imperial Agents, what is tomorrow going to bring...😂😂😂
Glad to see I'm not the only thinking that, they just imperial agents further with this one honestly
I don't hate imperial agents. They just aren't a replacement for dw. They should include them like gk and sisters, but still have kept them as a standalone faction same as the other 2.
Looking forward to the Assassinorum index
Its just bad. New worst detachment in the game.
I am so happy ! The changes are more than welcome ! Now to find missile terminator bits...
Small bit of shenanigans: the Imperial Agents Corvus Blackstar can transport 12 Deathwatch Infantry. It doesn't care what kind of armour they're wearing or whether they have jump packs.
By and large I’m pleased with the updated index.
I'm already subbed and I too play the Deathwatch. Holy shit, it's amazing.
Every alien has a weakness
RIP my favorite kill team. Proteus will be missed. q.q
I was very happy to read the index this morning. Not everything is perfect as you say... but it is still a start... hopefully we do get a new detachment at some point.
I hope so too!
would love to see some indebt of the units and maybe some build talk as they can be made in many different ways. :)

Much better but still a bit annoyed on the first born killteam being killed , respectively.
there are still Veterans and Terminators, just separate

Give deathwatch a detachement for firstborn
Give deathwatch a watchforteress as detachement

Indomitus, biologis & beacon is back, yay
They changed special ammunition so that you couldnt get anti-infantry 2+ on desolation marines, it is now limited to kill teams. Thats great, but wait, they added desolation marines to the Fortis Kill team .... (true you can only have 2 of them ... but they are there)
Nice to have the index. Unfortunately, i feel the army isn't viable for winning much at all. Overcosted 10 man bricks, nerf to only defense. Ugh.
Mistreating Death Watch is par for the course.
The fact that there is no Death Watch Kill Team, from whence the game got its name is absolutely insane.
Yeah baby deathwatch time again

Too bad the Indomitor kill team can no longer fit in the Corvus Blackstar
Can we now take 2 Artemis in a list? One agent and one from the index?
It depends on GW's understanding of "the same" Epic Hero.

Does anyone else like the Fortis kill team?
I will tell you in the next video
Yes, it's saucey
@timbob1145 the cost might be a bit wild though. But, I won't complain for the ultimate space Marine anti everything squad.
Those effing ...... in the dev team! They STILL havent corrected the FORTIS KILL TEAM astartes chainsword weapon profile... its still reads WS 4+... 😅 Unbelievable.
At least Deathwatch is an Army agian. Hope we at least get an upgrade set... in 11th edition. 😆 🤣
At least? It was given back by the one's that took it away. They need to fix it.
I kinda feel like the ammunition and the tactics should be reversed
it would make the Index different from last time at least
@ChristianVonCarmian40kVtuber besides that, it feels more fitting. Every time a unit shoots, you choose one of the three ammunition types. i already opened it D:
