Imagine not getting your codex until the end of the edition because marines just have to have so many codexes, and then seeing yet another space marine style army get added and get priority
Hi, Votann player here. I’m absolutely not mad, I’m super happy that Salamander players get their day in the sun and that Emperor’s Children fans get a codex after years of waiting. I’m also pleased that they’re giving the monogod legions all their stuff, it was a smart move by GW.
I keep thinking this and how it would make me as hype as the first April fools reveal. But wishful thinking really. I’ve told others to be patient with waiting for Votann but I’m really getting to the end of my tether 😅 god I just hate the marine favouritism.
It would be interesting to see the Salamanders given a full codex for 10th, but if your suspicions are correct and it's an updated Space Marines codex, I really hope they go to town on making the armies like Imperial Fist, Salamanders, White Scars etc feel very unique and give them all some love and put in a lot of theme specific detachments for them and rules. It's a shame the Space Wolves update may not arrive until Autumn, maybe even Winter this year.
I'm definately feeling a He'stan refresh coming. With how heavy they've been reworking the resin models to plastic and his updated rules and sales numbers he seems completely odds on for it. Seeing Tu'shan as well would be fantastic for sure
Psychic gone. Daemons gone. Since I don't own 2k of any one God I get the privilege of buying 4 new armies or choosing which army to focus on and which models to bin if I want to continue using my daemons. Hopefully I can still use my existing pdf until 11th.
Given they had to bring back the deathwatch index then chances are we'll keep access to the daemons index until 11th... after which i imagine they'll have some way to field chaos undivided, even if its a White Dwarf release.
I'm disappointed in the lack of Knight support (Chaos specifically), glad to see (maybe) a hint of something coming soon. Don't want to take away from other players receiving their codex's soon, genuinely happy for you all! :)

have they said when they expect 11th to drop? earnestly it feels like with all the huge changes 10th went through, it would really benefit from at least another year past the standard 3 of support and match play. not just because some people have to wait for their codexes, but because 10th created a new competitive ecosystem and leaning into that would be healthy for game and let them uh let's say do a better launch than initial 10th lol
my roblem with the daemon thing is, when they integrate them in the deity legions it would make a world eater juggernaut unit obsolete since bloodcrusher exist. That would make me sad.
i would guess grey knights and space wolves both get a refresh this year, bringing it to 5 big 40k releases which seems about right for a year with no major system edition release. votan get a big release next year and their codex only lasts 4 months. drukhari are the big bad for 11th.
I’m confused. If Chaos Daemons get rolled into their respective factions, would that mean Chaos Daemons wouldn’t be a faction anymore? Or would it be like they did in 8th and 9th Edition, where Nurgle Chaos Daemons (except character or HQ models, such as Great Unclean Ones) could join Death Guard, etc., but Chaos Daemons still remained Chaos Undivided?
I love salamanders and I'm glad salamanders players get more love. But maybe, just MAYBE, how about we give full ranges to all armies before giving marines yet another Codex GW??
