    Great tip about the mirrors. I tried it on a 55 mph single lane (each way) road at night and got 2.7 mkwh. Also, on a hands-free blue cruise road section at 75 mph but only 2.0 - 2.2 mkwh at that speed.

      Yes he could have. Must have spotty cellular in the driveway. Another issue would be the truck connected to his weak wifi from the house instead of using its own cellular modem/hotspot. He solved it, but never said how. What I've noticed from my 2020 SuperDuty that I traded in for this is how quick the app works to the Lightning. SD took 15-30 seconds sometimes to remote start or lock/unlock. This Lightning is nearly instant.....

    I was confused by your comment saying it did not show your charge speed. It has that giant task bar in blue showing you the progress, the time started and time to completion. I think it is a difference of approach. IMO, it matters more how much is charged versus having a kilowatt counter because it really doesn't matter except that it is charged and how long that will take on the truck end. On one video I watched with a couple and their Rivian, that is the very thing that confused them- the charge station said so many kilowatts and the truck said received ** and it was different. They responded oh well.

    Seeing you plug in with a trailer got me concerned about the future. At gas stations, it’s not really a big deal if you have a trailer, the way things are set up. But with an EV, you pretty much have to park in a parking spot, with your trailer hanging way out. I imagine some places where you literally would be blocking people from coming or going. Did you notice any potential issues in regards to this?

    • @pstoneking3418

      It doesn't seem like they installed many, if any, drive thru chargers for people towing anything.

      GM and some truck stop announced a project to put EV CCs chargers with trailer pull ins. Right now, non Tesla buyers are bleeding edge, but in 12-18 months there will be a lot of new DCFC stalls

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pstoneking3418 I noticed that some Tesla superchargers had chargers installed in the front of spots rather than behind. Apparently parking was so limited in one location, that this hotel, where this station was, would give permission to its guests to park in these spots, ICEing all of them, mainly at night, since that’s the peak time for guest stays. There appeared to be plenty of parking at surrounding businesses, so no idea why that location was chosen to have supercharging. Anyway the charger amount was doubled, with the new chargers in the front, so that if someone were to ICE it, Tesla owners could still charge.
      Of course, that means you have now boxed in 2-3 people, so you can’t exactly leave your car. That said, this set up would allow anyone with a trailer (and Tesla outlet) to pull right on in, perpendicular, though, still would be blocking massive amount of people that might need to leave.
      Something similar could be done in areas. People park trucks with trailers at gas stations all the time, not getting gas, but on some sort of lunch break. They aren’t hogging the pumps, but instead are parking along side a curb, typically where tankers refuel the stations, or where other deliveries are made. A charger could be placed there in the same way those air dispensers are, possibly even right next to it. If every gas station had one of these the same way they have air, not only would that solve the trailer issue, but would reduce the likelihood of ICEing

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@olemissjim there is a gas station chain in Texas (with additional locations in the south) that is essentially a truck stop for passenger vehicles. The company is called Buc-ee’s, and was supposed to have received grant money from Dieselgate to install super chargers at a few locations. It’s been about a year, and nothing has come from it. It would be nice if they catered to other EVs in addition, but we can’t even get them to do this. Truck stop would be more accommodating for vehicles with trailers, but having brought large uhauls and trucks with trailers at Buc-ees, I know that if space allows, a dedicated charger for vehicles with trailers would work here as well. There would need to be some sort of honor system though. Sort of like how you don’t get unleaded at diesel pumps unless it’s the only one available or use the large handicapable toilet stall unless it’s the only one. You wouldn’t charge here as a regular EV, unless that were the only option when you arrived.

      Yeah because people in gas cars dont do anything illegal....

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How is it illegal? In my state, you only have to have one mirror. So only having a rear view mirror counts, so long as the driver can view 200’ behind him. Whether or not he can is up to him and law enforcement, as that trailer may be problematic. I have a vehicle that only came with a driver side (passing) mirror, and rear view. The car was old enough that the manufacturer didn’t include a passenger side as standard equipment. Yes, for safety, I added one later, and honestly all three in absolutely no way can see 200’, but the point is that it didn’t need them. It wasn’t required. A lawyer once told me that it’s not about what’s right. It’s about what’s legal.
      To be honest though, what truck owner checks his mirrors? 😏

    Ha don’t get me started on the driver assistance in Teslas. One of my favorite dumb things it does is when you go out of your lanes a few too many times it actually deactivates your LKA (atleast that is the case on my 18 model 3). In my 18 Toyota with TSSP it just gives you a reminder to rest and keeps LKA on.
    Edit: Mistakely used LKA to refer to LDA.

    • @olemissjim
      @olemissjim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Autopilot won’t leave the lane, why are you weaving in/out of the lane?

    • @Mcivstx
      @Mcivstx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@olemissjim Oops i might have confused LKA (AP) with LDA. In my commute I often drive through 2 lane rural roads with incomplete or weird lane markings (narrow). AP works but I don't like how it gets close to the oncoming lane of traffic so I drive by hand. I like sticking to the marking on the right side of the road to give the most space to oncoming traffic and AP often dings me for it and eventually will completely deactivate LDA after 2-4 infractions (The lane departure assist is not available till the next drive message). Compared to my 2018 Rav It will warn me on the MFD but won't disable the system completely. Just seems weird for a safety feature to be disabled after like 2-3 infractions. Especially since on rural roads we often have to come out of the lane slightly for agricultural vehicles and mail trucks.

    Adding the charging speed on the lightning will cause more information overload because a Tesla car IS information overload. So, in #8, I don't care about adding the DC fast charging speed.

    • @Mcivstx
      @Mcivstx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uh wut? I mean I think additional DC charging speed would be nice. Especially for road-trips we’re you just want to get back on the road again. Saving a few mins every stop adds up. Also my model 3 feels fine in relation to displayed information. I don’t feel like it’s overloaded at all and actually have a ODB2 tool plugged in to monitor pack voltage and etc to provide more information.

    Using this truck requires a pilot level training, you must calculate battery levels, next charging station, payload weight, trip distance, wind speed/wind direction AND outside tempratures. Great use of time (in the morning) for a small business owner!!! These are novelty vehicles, not at all practical!
