The great wall of China is one of those one in a lifetime experiences. No picture or video can prepare you for the real thing, until now with this incredible video. I feel like I am walking it all over again. I went to Badaling 10 years ago and to Mutanyu 5 years ago. They were equally impressive but I think that Mutanyu was an easier climb. When ever I need to go back to the Great Wall, I have this video to take me there. Max, you are the best!

My dear friend, you're definitely a Great Wall fan and thanks for your amazing words again! Badaling and Mutianyu are both beautiful sections. Next time I visit Beijing, I'd like to take a Mutianyu walking tour:)
BTW, it's my first time to see a snowy day of March.... And it's snowing on the Great Wall....What a dreaming trip..
Thank you again and happy Sunday!🌸🌸🍰

@@WalkEast When I saw the snow coming down, I thought of you freezing out there to take this amazing video. You must be in good physical shape because I never once heard you panting. Please videotape your visit to Mutianyu, the scenery is truly breathtaking.

      @WalkEast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@HKChineseCanadian Yes, the weather is not very good. It's very cold and I really felt freezing out there!
I tried my best to control my panting because I don't want my breathing sound ruin the video. Actually it's not an easy climbing tour at all.
Mutianyu, yes! Next time to Beijing, Mutianyu is a must!

    DIY travellers:
    Best Option:
Journey start from Beijing North Station(北京北) / Subway Line 13 Qinghe Station(清河).
Take Beijing - Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway (Bullet Train) to Badaling Great Wall Station (八达岭长城)
    Cost: 23 Yuan
    * Badaling Great Wall Station also the World deepest High Speed Railway Station which is 102m underground
    2nd Option:
Journey start from Beijing Subway Line 8 / 13 HuoYing Station(霍营) Exit G4 and follow S2 sign to HuangTuDian Railway Station(黄土店)
From HuangTuDian Railway Station take S2 Line to Badaling Railway Station (八达岭)
    Cost: 8 Yuan
Congratz Walk East for reaching North 8 Tower. Highest point of Badaling Great Wall. A great Achievement.

To avoid the crowds, I recommend visiting the Huanghuacheng (黄花城) and the Simatai (司马台) sections of the Great Wall. These sections are more remote and wild, and are tougher to climb, making the experience more of an adventure. Awesome video btw, very immersive!

You should not worry about it being your slowest walk Max. I had a wonderful day at Mutianyu in October 2015 and on the final steep climb I had to use my hands to climb there. I had fantastic mountain views from the wall on a warm sunny day with very few people. It remains my most wonderful memory of China. You can see it on video but the impact of it when you are actually there is impossible to describe. Truly a wonder of the world.

The Great wall of China was the project of the Unified Chinese first emperor Qin Shi Huang of Qin Dynasty, the project continued by succeeding emperors and Chinese dynasty. If only those Qin Dynasty palace wasn't destroyed and burned then many ancient artifacts will surely be showed to the younger generations.

The Great Wall is to resist the Huns more than 2,000 years ago, not the Manchus. The Manchus have been sinicized into the same Chinese as the Hans. They wrote Chinese during the Spring Festival to worship Confucius, because the Qing Dynasty in China completely followed the rules and culture of China, and the emperors and nobles of the Qing government would not Manchu, they agree that Confucius became Chinese

my first ever visit to China in 1998 (tour of major cities) I visited this area of the wall with a tour bus from my hotel but the bus left early (a few hours early) and I thought that I would be able to walk back to my hotel in Beijing (I think that it would have been around 80km). After maybe 45 minutes of walking I arrived at a road tunnel I wasn't allowed to pass through - so I ended up hitchhiking back to Beijing which was funny because I couldnt speak Chinese and the van driver could only say hello and ok. I arrived safely though

😂🤣😆😆😆 that opening shot I was like 🤔 💭 he’ll be looking at this mountain of stairs 😳😖😫😩 lucky for the cart ride up, the person behind looked very happy 😆
Some amazing views though, I bet it looks even prettier in summer when the trees are in full bloom or in winter with more snow 🥶
I was surprised to see the cats up there, they looked the big tough fighting type 😼😾
The statistics surrounding every aspect of the Great Wall is crazy.
I hope you’ve had a great weekend mate and thank you for the Great Wall footage 👍

Just always love your words very very much, bro!
Luckily, there's cart to send me to the half way of the mountain. If I started from the bottom of the mountain, I'm not sure if I can carry my heavy equipment to make the whole uphill trip freely...
You're super right about the prettier time! The more snow white Great Wall and full bloom summer Great Wall are much prettier than this time!
I hope I could visit Mutianyu Great Wall in May. Because I would visit Beijing at that time again probably.
Tha cats shocked me too. They seems have a great life there.
I wish you have a great weekend too, my cool friend!

I lived and worked in Beijing back in 1990, did even VIP Outside caterings from the Shangri- La Hotel to the Great Wall at Badaling, I had traveled the globe several times, but the most incredible monument for me is still the Great Wall of China, incredible history. Sitting on a camel at the Great Wall for picture taking by minus 15 C Celsius and it started to snow you only can imagine these memories last for a life time.amazing stories to tell
