there are private local tours that take you to undeveloped sections where parts of the wall are covered by wild vegetation. a bit more adventurous, but not touristy and you will see the older sections!

Beijing tends to be very foggy especially up the mountains towards the colder months. In the summer, it gets a lot of dust blown in from the northern desert regions. It's not pollution (if it is, you can smell it - sort of dank, almost moldy scent). We get foggy days in Sydney, Australia too and that's not pollution. Fog is caused by temperature inversion between the different atmospheric layers.

There are 56 ethnic groups in China, and each has its own traditional food. Among them, the Han people generally divide their food into eight major cuisines, each of which has a different flavor and ingredient combination, Sichuan and Hunan cuisine are mainly spicy, the other six cuisines are not spicy, even southern Jiangsu and Shanghai people like to eat sweet.😂

2000 years ago, there was no unified China. There was however the Seven Warring States who each built walls of their owns but then the Qin State conquered all the other 6 and unified them ending the 7 Kingdoms era and connected all the Northern walls which became the Great Wall now serving a new purpose which was to defend against the horse nomads. So in reality, it was a simultaneous project by multiple entities but then later the swctions were connected rather than a singular project. It is still magnificent I agree

@@JumpingPlaces Wow thanks for replying! I feel so happy now!
I tell you how I lost my china citizenship.
After I become Canadian citizenship, as in china law, Chinese citizenship automatically loses, because China doesn't allow dual citizenship. I asked china embassy before, and the staff said I should go china to officially cancel citizenship, but I don't go anymore , so the staff said forever don't use China passport again. Some people use 2 passport secretly, but it's officially kind of illegal, of course I don't do this.
I was very unfortunate that, I also applied Canada spouse visa for my husband, and also get rejected too, now it's very hard to get visa in any country especially for living.
Thank you for visiting china, I also lived in Japan before but I don't have visa anymore.
I have lived in few countries until now, like china, Japan, Canada, and now I'm in Pakistan.
We haven't decided where to live, but I will definitely explore more countries just like you! If I have any chance, maybe I will consider to become TH-camr vloger just like you!
It's amazing you can travel around the world and can afford to pay hotel and everything, because now have high inflation and everything are so expensive in all countries.
I really enjoyed watching your videos! It's amazing you visited so many countries! Thank you for visiting China! I hope you will visit Canada and other countries too!

Here is the answer to the blogger's doubts: the main body of the Great Wall includes the road city and the arrow tower. The main purpose of the road city is to patrol and transport supplies, and most of them are heavy, so the steps are relatively low. The function of the arrow tower is to observe, fight and transmit enemy information in time, so it is built relatively high, and the steps are relatively high and dangerous. The Great Wall in Beijing area mainly includes Badaling, Juyongguan, Mutianyu, Jiankou, and Simatai. The Jinshanling Great Wall is in Hebei Province and is under the jurisdiction of Chengde City. Its main body is built of white strip stone, which has strong wind erosion resistance. Therefore, even after thousands of years, it still looks vicissitudes and majestic. It is also a place that photographers are particularly fond of. It is not recommended to go to the Badaling Great Wall because there are too many people. Juyongguan is a very good choice in spring. There are clusters of flowers and wild apricot flowers all over the mountains, and there are green trains that are specially reserved as tourist nostalgia, which is very suitable for young people to travel.

Wow I can't believe you hadn't been on the subway! It would have saved you a lot of money on taxi rides, it goes everywhere and it's clean and cheap! I love your portrayal of the wall, I was there in early May 2018 and the weather was clear. I had to pay over $100 for a private car because I arrived in the afternoon and only had 3 hours to get there and walk it. I went up on the gondola and walked to the toboggan but they said I had to walk back to the gondola. Well forget that, I didn't have time so I just walked down and it only took about 15 minutes. Then at the bottom after walking the wall for an hour and walking down I turned my ankle over very badly on the flat sidewalk, I was barely walking for the next 2 days lol. Well, that's another story. Thumbs up!

As a residence in Beijing, I have never been to the top tower of Great Wall. Such a tiring journey, but the view worth it.

Not that many American couples like you…… real adventurous….not deterred by your country’s advisory. Great Couple!

    That's not pollution, that's fog.

And the food looked good , glad not to have to walk so far :-)
Did take a few years to build the wall , still epic !
OMW , scaling the steps , should take 'ski' exercises before that , good shoes and light back pack .
Going down jars the joints :-)

You're in great shape to take on the great wall.
I tried it a long time ago and I didn't get too far because of my bad knee.
Great video too, but my experience walking around Beijing was very busy and people everywhere.
Nothing like a good adventure.....and China is a good place to visit.
Yes I was eating food and didn't know the name, just try something and hope for the best....

Enjoy your video. Like your reactions and the background music fit well with the scenery.

There is a way to get on those undeveloped parts of Great Wall, and should be even for fun. But might not be safe.

It was Haze damage from the northern desert! EV is very popular and affordable in the PRC, so the pollution has been improved.
