Thank you for this compilation. Most of the clips are by Richard Lewis Warren, who was the musical soul of 'Dallas'. So much evocative orchestration, perfectly matched to beautifully written and performed scenes. A most under-rated talent - although he did score the most episodes of the world's most successful TV show!
In the scene with JR asleep as that bomb was beside him, I loved how the music score deliberately synched with the tempo of the ticking mechanism at the end, with a well timed freeze frame for good measure!! Brilliantly dramatic score!! 👍
Of course the scene where Bobby "died" was heart-wrenching, but a close second the scene in which Sue Ellen, after years of battling her alcoholism, broke down and grabbed that drink. Linda Gray really nailed that scene.
The piano score, when Pam wakes up. Also during the whole 'Swan song'/Bobby dies-episode the piano score is beautiful. You can sense from it something final will happen.
Vincent thank you so much for uploading this..i wish you had more music scores from cliffhangers to upload..i thought i was the only one who liked music score-endings..These were the days of great primetime dramas with great cliffhanger music (Dallas,Dynasty,Falcon Crest) coupled with the freeze-frame technique, the exec producers titles and fade-out..Now this technique is long gone unfortunately..and i say that because it captured so well facial expressions of terror, anger, sadness as well as car crashes, explosions, fires etc..And the music most of the times was so great at the end..now it's usually synth bland..I'd propose more great Dallas music score cliffhangers like: 1.after SueEllen's and Mickey's accident with SueEllen in bed all wounded and JR apologizing, 2.when Katherine in blond wig (not seen) threw a glass at the TV screen, 3.when SueEllen shot JR at the season finale, 4.when Pam when to Hon Kong to find Mark Grayson and when she found out JR send her on a wild goosechase, 5.JR in the masqurade ball of Angelica Nero after shots were fired 6.when Cliff screwed over JR and the episode ended with that diabolical laughter There are so many i cant remember from the season of the big fight between Bobby and JR for Ewing Oil and Miss Ellie in the middle, or in season 10 or 11 with Weststar Oil.....Thanx again
plutoamor Many Thanx, .I thought also i was the only one who liked music score-endings. 2.when Katherine in blond wig (not seen) threw a glass at the TV screen, isn´t a Cliffhanger. You can see 1, 3, 4, 5 and much more here : th-cam.com/video/624W7Y6QrVc/w-d-xo.html ... to be continued...
yes you are right about that Dallas episode..it was in a sense a cliffhanger episode but not season cliffhanger..actually it was just the one before the season finale..Thank you again for your beatiful compilation..P.S. Knots Landing had also some great music score but only through the first 5 or 6 seasons i think..then it was downhill music-wise..The season 4 finale with Gary at prison and Mac searching frantic for Diana has one of the most melodic ones..Also the one with the Val's twins when they tried to kidnap them
Something about Sue Ellen walking up those stairs (as dramatic as it is) speaks volumes. She finally finds her voice, finally has victory over her long suffering years. Shes not failling apart at thr seams as per usual.
Yes the video was nice but I never understood how did those women go to bed with make -up on & wake up with make-up didn't they belive in a New Make Over ? June 23,2020
Two favorite scores I loved best. 1: In the 4th episode of the mini series Winds of Vengeance, when Jock and Bobby sneak through the kitchen and take down the two punks holding the Ewings hostage, 2: The romantic saxophone music played in season 11 when Bobby and April first become intimate while staying in a plush hotel room during their stay in Vienna. I mostly loved the music by Lance Rubin, who also scored the music for the three Incredible Hulk reunion movies in 1988, 1989, and 1990.
One of the best pieces of music from Dallas was from when Bobby died in the hospital. As much as I love the new show, one of the things that is lacking terribly in the show besides good decorating for the interior of SF, is a decent musical score.
I'm writing that i was reading online that Warner Bros. studios is planning to make all 356 episodes from all 14 seasons of DALLAS,, upgraded in a brand new remastered picture quality, available to stream on the streaming service MAX in 2024
one of my favorite pieces was during the 89-90 season when Bobby told Jean(Pam's lookalike) that he was going back to April. It was a really sad and depressing piece. That scene put into perspective Bobby's obsession with Pam even after she left him and Christopher. Another favorite was when Cliff met with Pam in her doctor's office, and she told him they would never see each other again.
I agree. The music in the last few episodes of the 1984-85 season was great, as was the music ending the 1982-83 season. Unfortunately, they revived some of the cheap, funky-sounding music from the early days for the 1986-87 season in a desperate effort to revive the show (which failed - miserably!).
redletter2008 Right. John Parker’s music did not fit in the 80’s. Unfortunately, that seemed to be the Executive Producer’s favorite and was used in all the season finales until the series’s end. :(
The best Dallas music scores came from Bruce Broughton, who had a real sense for drama. The worst came from John Parker, who wrote for every major character simple-minded, cliche-ridden themes, which were annoyingly overused in all his episodes.
One really good one that you missed is from the end of JOCK'S WILL. It is short, but oh so good. As the music gets stronger, the camera zooms in on the painting of Jock on the living room wall.
4.48+ for GOD SAKE sue-E "JUST LAUGH AT THE PAIR OF THEM" if she,s that DESPERATE for a man etc etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The music after the dream season was awful! 1986-87 was the start of the decline of Dallas musical scores. They started with synthesized music and that real twangy hick background music especially when Cally came aboard

Thank you for your words! ❤
Great compilation. They really don’t go to this much effort these days with music scores on tv shows
true!
Dallas forever !!! Thx!!!!
In the scene with JR asleep as that bomb was beside him, I loved how the music score deliberately synched with the tempo of the ticking mechanism at the end, with a well timed freeze frame for good measure!! Brilliantly dramatic score!! 👍
Amazing! Thank's for uploading. Greetings from Argentina!
Always loved these music scores, they don´t make those scores like that nowadays,I guess it would sound outdated...
Yes they do... depends on the show... breaking bad had some great music...
Of course the scene where Bobby "died" was heart-wrenching, but a close second the scene in which Sue Ellen, after years of battling her alcoholism, broke down and grabbed that drink. Linda Gray really nailed that scene.
Katherine in the hospital scene with the needle still gives me chills and the music set the tone.
loved this show!
Me too XD

Plutoamor, wonderful comment!
Dallastown and texasseasonpart11

Nice video!

When Bobby flatlined and Pam is startled, made me jump when I watched it May 17th 1985. Again, the music was spot on
The music when Katherine Wentworth, enters Bobby’s hospital room and starts to fill the syringe with poison, was spot on perfect!
yes it was
Great compilation !!!

One of the thugs was none other than Brian Dennehy
Another good one ..is when cliff goes to southfork and finds the body in the swimming pool. From ewing gate.
I LOVE that [piece of music.
@@JohnBlack2345 Wonderful score.. XD
Super 👍👍👍
Dallas and texasfamilylifeseasonpRt11
The music that plays whenever you know he has another trick up his sleeve just when it looks like he's been beaten...
a fave....when vanessa tells jr goodbye at Southfork. beautiful and haunting.
I think the music during the "dream season" cliffhanger was the best.
Ranch type music at times while at ranch or when Ray pulls up.😊
Linda Grey's Ring In The Part Where She Takes The Drink Is As Big As The Ice Cubes In The Glass.
lovely !!
They should have released a soundtrack album back in it's hey day....
One of the best pieces of music from Dallas was from when Bobby died in the hospital. As much as I love the new show, one of the things that is lacking terribly in the show besides good decorating for the interior of SF, is a decent musical score.
They had great music for tv.
My favorite was when Sue Ellen started acting like the perfect wife. Then in bed she informed JR it was only for "public consumption".
Good morning!
Blooper @ :31. Who's reflection is on the door?
I So Love Bobby.
Some music between scenes I noticed were from sound of music or showtunes Larry's mother acted in. Agree though Dallas had great music!
I'm writing that i was reading online that Warner Bros. studios is planning to make all 356 episodes from all 14 seasons of DALLAS,, upgraded in a brand new remastered picture quality, available to stream on the streaming service MAX in 2024
Season finale Season 6 ewing inferno music was great
Dallas
When Bobby was shot, looked like the shots came through the front of the chair
should release a CD

Why he choose April to this day ..I will never understand..!!..XD
MrCraigblaze I preferred Jean & Kay Lloyd from season 11. I liked April, just not with Bobby.
@@MMAfighter38113, same.
MMAFighter38: That goes to show that somethings are better left behind, no , matter how good the memories are.
taken from what Dallas episode?
Nr 1 Miss Ellie
Nr 2 Bobby
Nr 3 Pamela
Nr 4 Lucy
Nr 5 Donna
Nr 6 Clayton
Nr 7 Ray
Nr 8 Sue Ellen
Nr 9 Jock
Nr 10 Cliff
Nr 11 J.R.
I,agree.
would love to hear the music scores in the episodes when Sue Ellen was accused of shooting J.R.
08:27 Why didn't the criminal look into the room of Miss Ellie and Clayton and Pam and Bobby?
I never even knew Larry Hagman and Lois Chiles spoke German 😂
Larry Hagman was the guy in the reflection when the elevators door open at the start of this clip . XD
The very last scene.....the one with JR looking at what looks like a ring.....can you tell me what episode that was from?
This Episode reads "The Search" from Season 5 /Part13 (1982)
music in 11.42, was this not taken from Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan?
Seems like alot of music on the show I've heard from movies of Broadway. (Larry's Mom was a movie & Broadway star.)
I agree. The music in the last few episodes of the 1984-85 season was great, as was the music ending the 1982-83 season. Right. John Parker’s music did not fit in the 80’s. Unfortunately, that seemed to be the Executive Producer’s favorite and was used in all the season finales until the series’s end. :(
@Colin Naraine, no. The orchestration and theme are very similar but this is not taken from Star Trek 2: Wrath of Kahn.
I completely agree with you.
Bruce Broughton brilliant jag etc
Camera crew @.32.
They caught it in the 1984-85 premiere.
I was sorry to see Morgan Brittany go that season. Pam was such a sap!XD
lol.....wont be able to watch this scene the same way again!!
They caught it over the summer of 1984 when Katherine was telling back the story in the fall of 84...XD
It looked like he was holding up the camera..Or something...??..XD
