I just saw this for the first time, then grabbed my 9 iron and headed out to give it a try. I hit just 4 balls, all with a half swing and each went over 100 yards. Keep in mind it’s 42 degrees f here and rainy and I am pushing 70 years old. Needless to say Mr. Taylor has my attention. Thanks.
This concept is not realized for most beginning golfers and sometimes never for the life of the golfer. Great explanation of how the body works in the golf swing!
Best explanation possible. Not in any way undermining the inputs gained from other videos. But without doubt this has a unique perspective about it. Thanks again
Wow. This resonates with me so much and with where I am currently in my progression of learning the golf swing. Literally just started implementing a “pushing down” with trail hand feel
Very revealing. My limitation has always been moving the left hip out of the way on the downswing!! You have given me a way to address it. I can compress the ball pretty well for an old guy (74) but my miss is a push. This finish concept you are showing me is undoubtedly my problem.
This is exactly what I´ve been practicing on, went from at strong grip to almost a weak grip and that basely allowed me to correct my swing plane, especially my backswing which is allowing me to get my left shoulders more in under my head . I´ve never been hitting the boll better than now.
Jonathan great video. Early 50s, Right-handed golfer with hip arthritis in left hip. Any suggestions for players with hip mobility issues on changes to the swing to minimize impact on the hips?
my PGA Pro gave me this drill to train the downward force in the downswing: Place a tee 1-2 feet behind the ball (relative to target). In the downswing try to hit the tee! It sounds crazy, but you will experience that as you try to move vertically down to hit the tee, your body will rotate instead of slide, and the rotation will bring your clubface into the ball instead of the tee :)
I was playing the best golf of my life (low 70s) for about 12 months by separating my hips and leading with them then turning my shoulders. However my lower back is pretty bad now and i don't play golf as much. I can confirm my technique was not good for longevity at least.
Consciously thinking about your hands will always involve your feet unless you block them but thinking about your feet will not always have the same effect on your hands.

Phenomenal presentation of a basic truth. Excellent.

Best Why and How description of a golf drill .

Thanks Jonathan. As a 74 yr old who has gotten back into golf after many years, these types of drills to retrain my body help much.
Sir Jonathan Taylor this one is one of the greatest explanation video
Super thanks for the best golf lesson

Sorry I don’t, but listen to your body and play within yourself. Oh, and practice your short game!
Interesting video. Do you know of any drills that could train this move?

@@Mayol73 Thank you!

On its way 😊

I feel that I get the same effect by pushing down into the ground with my feet which pulls my arms through the swing.

hi Jonathan, do you offer online lessons in English? your website looks like its in German?
Old mate in the background is getting a free lesson haha
So are we.
You convinced me-- I cannot play golf.
Huh?
Funny thing is I always feel more intelligent after watching your videos ... feel but not real, of course 😂
I'm trying to avoid any golf swing tip that takes longer than
1 minute
wayyyyy to complicated
No one is teaching this
