I searched for casting being a good thing in the golf swing because I started doing it, and I started flushing my irons. I'm glad I found this video for some sort of validation. I had almost given up on ever hitting irons flush or hitting a draw. My miss was my body being way too quick and leaving the club head wide open, and the casting feeling was the only thing that helped me.

This is absolute magic. Sooo many golfers need to know this. I've been working on this the last few months with Monte's NTC (which is the same) and its drastically changed my swing for the better

Most golfers are scared to release the hands because butch harmon and david leadbetter told us “passive upper body” so we dont swing the arms fast enough and end up with a bad cast.
To turn a bad cast into a powerful golf move just increase arm speed so the hands and arms catch up with the lower body at impact, and that is what good timing is.
Those old school teachers told us to get the timing out of it and just turn through so now we have a generation of golfers trying to hit the ball with their hip and a permanently engrained over the top move.
Anyone who says use the hands is an immediate subscribe for me. You and dan alton are the best golf instructors on youtube.
Love that you say to use your hands in putting also. Raymond floyd told that to tiger and they were pretty decent putters.

It’s all in the right hand wrist staying cocked back

Got to agree, this feels strange to associate with, will give it a go though. Thanks for the ongoing attempts to communicate what must be one of the hardest games to communicate.

I’ve been playing golf for many years and recently flushed one like never before. At the time I was trying to have the feeling of a free flowing release from transition and I think you may have just explained what could have happened. I’m hoping that I can now set about trying to get recreate what I felt that day more often.
    Thank you Jonathan.

great video, this is working great on the full swings,,, on the 3/4 and half swings, i am having problems. is it still starting with the wrist and backwards? i guess the force is so soft i can't feel the counter balance yet.
Thanks, i will watch again and some more videos on pitching and half swings.

Jonathan, how did you discover this epiphany? I fully agree this is what is happening, but it took a long time for this to be discussed seriously.

It seems to work well for me for irons. But I can’t seem to get it to work for the driver. Is there something you suggest?

Absolutely brilliant! I have tried this and it gets me better compression and distance. However, I am now pulling to the left, mostly with short irons and wedges. Maybe I think to much about the start of downswing that it makes me stalling? The solution should be in earlier and more rotation?

Make sure you are releasing the club and not stalling in the downswing.

Think Monte no turn cast drill, casting works, all that hold the angle, lag, turn, rotate has destroyed more golfers games than it helped.

Won’t pushing the club from top, create keeping pressure on right foot for too long ?

The more you push away from target at the top , the more counterbalance force is generated to lead side.

@@RollYourRock Just stating a fact, as well as perhaps pointing some people in his direction to check him out. I think they’d enjoy it and appreciate. This takes nothing away from @JonathanTaylor63 whom I already subscribed to. I think Marcus should have more subscribers, and he’s ill right now, so I was supporting. The fact that Jonathan gave me a like shows he was ok with my reference.

Too many things to think about. Great explanation but for the common golfer like me, there is no way we can execute all the minute movements with our body and hands that instructors tell us to. No way. Make it simple. Why not start with the club closed and leave it there?

I would try the Hackmotion to understand what your wrist angles are doing. You’re right, there is a lot to think about, but if you had to pick one thing to focus on, it’s your wrist positions. It helped me understand what I was actually doing and not what I THOUGHT I was doing.

Montes $30 no turn cast explains this in much simpler terms. It’s kind of magic for a noobie.
