It's nice to see Vortex come out with a new pistol dot. My only criticism would be the 14 hr. autoshutoff. Why so long? If the shake awake is reliable, 10-15 min would seem a much better option if you actually want it to kick in and turn off the emitter to save battery life. If you put your pistol down for the night at 8-10pm, it will not shut off before you pick it back up the next morning, so you never take advantage of that feature, unless I'm missing something? The top mount battery looks great, but I don't see how this will compete with a holosun 507/407k except for warranty. I haven't used one yet. Maybe there will be more revealed about this in future videos. Where is it manufactured?
Just got the defender ccw for my hellcat-pro, seems solid mixed reviews based on the youtubers I've seen- Will have to test it out myself in a day or two.
Thanks for the video. When I remove the picatinny mount, there are 2 springs that are still housed in the optic. Do those stay or do I remove them when mounting to the slide of my pistol?
can you use the plate screws from the optic mount plate on a SHIELD PLUS to install on a SHIELD PLUS, or the screws in one of the packets. I ordered one but have not received it yet.
I watched this expecting to add this new optic to a Sig Macro I expect to buy soon. My question is, on my Venoms, the recommended torque has always been 10-12 inch lbs. In this video you said 15 inch #s. Is this revised torque for all pistol RDS optics now or is it now different for only this RD? When mounting my one of my Venoms, intended for a S&W 10mm I should be picking up tomorrow, do I torque to 10-12 or 15 inch pounds?
Direct mounts to glock 43 and 48 mos?? No plates needed!! That is a game changer as holosun needs plate for glock slim line. Holosun direct mounts to sig p365 but needs plates for many other guns. If vortex can direct fit to sit, glock, canik, etc they have a winter here. I also like the switch locations. Seems no one is talking about that. I like my holosun but the tiny switches on same side are annoying to use.
This is what I worried about with mine. Glock says to use no more than an 8mm. The ones that came with this red dot for the glock mos were 9. Something. The dot itself, the base is a little taller. Mine ejected casings okay
Is there any instruction on how to mount the Defender CCW on my FN 509 Tactical? My FN comes with a few different plates and screws and instructions for your Viper and Razor but not Defender. Thanks
The Defender will come with screws labeled for the FN firearms that will mount right up to the adaptor plate and pistol! You'll need this plate as well! www.egwguns.com/deltapoint-pro-fits-shield-rms-rmsc-sms-jpoint-redfield-accelerator-and-optima-for-sig-sauer-p220-p226-p229-p320 If your pistol is optics ready then we'd suggest going with this plate: www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/66-100148-3
I have the hellcat osp and I put on the defender ccw and it flew back and hit my head after 50-100 rounds, now I don't if it's just my sight that is messed up now or the notches on the rail itself but my sight is not secure anymore and I tried a second time at the range and thankfully my brother caught it, the screws came loose again. Idk what went wrong
Put loctite on your screws and use a torque wrench/torque screwdriver I believe 15 in/lbs. Then take a white marker and leave witness markings for the screws.
We would suggest reaching out to IWI for the specs on their thread pitch! You could also try the screws that come with the Defender and see if any of those work.
I've a Glock 20 Gen5 MOS & the Defender CCW 3MOA. Glock has 2 adapters that list Vortex. 05 (27.5mm) plate does not work. Lugs do not match the optic. 01 plate would be too narrow.
Really excited to see vortex refresh its micro red dot lineup! Hope to see a rmr footprint compatible dot in the future!
We love to hear that you're excited, and appreciate the feedback! Thanks for being part of Vortex Nation and stay tuned!
Def a RMR footprint.
looking for an rmr footprint first and foremost
Noted! Appreciate that feedback! We're always working on new products so we'll definitely keep this in mind!

I always like to see something demonstrated. Much better than written instructions or trial and error.
Thank you vortex for making an affordable optic that doesn’t over complicate the G43X’s atrocity of a mounting system
Vortex just keeps improving their lineup.
Always good to have an instruction video to show proper installation
Bolted right up to my Shield Plus! Shot with it today and it was great!!!
We love to hear that, Jeremy! Thanks so much for being part of Vortex Nation!
It's dope how many screws are included with the optic
We try our best to cover as many models as we can! 👊
I’m so pumped to try this out!
WE are pumped for you to try it out!!!
it's really good of you to put out a resource like this
Happy to help!
This is a great video for all to see, it is a little nerve-racking mounting an optic to your new gun, you don't want to mess up.
Happy to help take the nerves out! If you ever want to see a how-to video on anything specifically let us know!
@@VortexOpticsUSA Thank you very much, will remember in the future..
👍
So this one is a direct fit for 43x no plate
Yes, and if you need to cant a little bit you have that plate they provide, “cant” meaning raising the rear
Would u suggest using the cant plate regardless?@@XxxGHOST3055xxX
Will it mount on a non mos 43x?
@ and how would
You expect to do that bro, if
There’s no optics cut
Looking forward to seeing more of Vortex!
Love Vortex and just recently mounted a Viper red dot on one of mine!
Heck yeah!
Just got the defender ccw for my hellcat-pro, seems solid mixed reviews based on the youtubers I've seen- Will have to test it out myself in a day or two.
What screws did you use?
@@jamesdeherrera5801 tbh not sure, think they came with it
Vortex makes awesome optics!
Appreciate the support!
Do you have to use a different length screw when using the shim plate?
Thanks for the video. When I remove the picatinny mount, there are 2 springs that are still housed in the optic. Do those stay or do I remove them when mounting to the slide of my pistol?
Buying this for my 43x for Black Friday 🔥
Vortex always on the cutting edge
Vortex is a Awesome Company and has great Products
Thanks for being a part of Vortex Nation!
Hopefully mine arrives before next Wednesday which is my next range day.
🤞🤞🤞
Finally! A video showing me what I'm doing wrong!
Love the vortex line up.
Thanks for being a part of Vortex Nation!
Just waiting for my mounting plate from walther for my pdp. Can’t wait to install
My new defender ccw.
Love the red dot optics.
Is there a larger optic coming out for a full size pistol?
Time will tell! 🤐
Thank you for this video. Appreciate you question do you guys just sell the screws by any chance? I seem to miss placed mine.
Good tutorial on mounting a red dot. I like it. 👍🏼
Great tutorial for mounting a red dot.
Here to help 🤜 🤛
Great optic...there is one in my near future for my EDC pistol.
Love vortex! 🔥🔥
❤️ you
Vortex makes awesome products
Vortex optics are the best
No, YOU'RE the best
@@VortexOpticsUSA Well.... I'm above average anyway 🤣
I've heard it's best to add suppressor height irons as well with these??
I hope there's a full size version to replace the vortex venom with docter/noblex footprint.🙏🏽🤙🏽
We appreciate your feedback! We're always working on new products so stay tuned!
Looks amazing and looking forward to try it out.
Let us know what you think when you get a chance to do so!
If you were to mount it to an after market slide such as the strike industries light slide which footprint would you be using
can you use the plate screws from the optic mount plate on a SHIELD PLUS to install on a SHIELD PLUS, or the screws in one of the packets. I ordered one but have not received it yet.
Simple install, great demo.
Happy to help!
Best Chinese optics out there!
Great Info and easy to follow!
That is an awesome idea for my next build!
Hi Sr, I have a question. Do I need to put any plate in a P365 AXG Legion to use the Defender on it? Thanks in advance
Vortex is a excellent hunting tool !
Great products and great reps!
Hi @vortexopticks Which screws do I need to use to mount this optic on Spriegnfield Echelon?
Info that will definitely come in handy someday.

We recommend the 12-15 range if you're not using any kind of thread locker, if you are, then we'd recommend 10-12!
Are there plans to do this in Green ???

Vortex is a go-to!
🤜 🤛
Very good looking optic package
Install is easy, making sure you have compatible gear is where the magic is.
Very true ✨
Please advise witch screws size did you use fir this mount?
Love Vortex products...this looks to be a good one too!!
We think so 😁
I assume the screws for the 43x come different sizes so it doesn’t affect the extractor?
This is what I worried about with mine. Glock says to use no more than an 8mm. The ones that came with this red dot for the glock mos were 9. Something. The dot itself, the base is a little taller. Mine ejected casings okay
Im looking to mount this on a sig p320 m18 ca edition. I know this red dot comes with the screws but what would i need to mount it to the gun?
So question I just purchased my p320 full and got the defender. Do I need an adapter plate ?
Love a good How-to.
Awesome tutorial!
Handy video to get it done right the first time
Just ordered it, if I use the shim plate do I still use the same screws?
Love some Vortex!
😘
Would like to try this one....
In Canada, does it come with a pic rail mount or are they available? Thinking of putting one on a Chiappa Rhino 60DS
Yes it comes with a pic rail mount also. I have a Defender on my FX-9 carbine as well.
Really makes all the difference
Do you have to do any modifications on a 43X MOD to fit the optic, I don’t want to file down anything.
Is there any instruction on how to mount the Defender CCW on my FN 509 Tactical? My FN comes with a few different plates and screws and instructions for your Viper and Razor but not Defender. Thanks

Looks really nice!
Informative concerning the Vortex for Glock
Hope there's nothing too concerning about the Defender-CCW on your Glock 😅 that would be a great choice! So if you're considering - we support it!
Is there a video on how to accurately zero a pistol red dot?
Hey Sean! Here's a video we did a couple years ago on sighting in a red dot on your pistol - th-cam.com/video/ehvsr81xhH0/w-d-xo.html
Wer wanne bring the ccw on a Glock 31c. Can Wer mount IT direktly or do we need a extra adapterplate? Thanks for helping US.
Vortex has great products!!
Appreciate the support!
Great optics choice
I cannot get this optic to mount on my Rost Martin RM1C. I ordered a shield plate adapter but the holes still do not line up. What am I doing wrong?
Will it fit the Dagger Compact!?
Great instructional video
What screwdriver is that and where can I get one? 😎
Sorry I have Another question,
Does it fit a Bul Armory SAS II TAC 4,25?
Tanks forwards for your answer.
You'll need an adapter plate from amerigunusa.com since the Defender-CCW has a Shield RMS/RMSc footprint.
Will I need the shim plate for a hellcat pro?
How do I know if I need the plate in the middle?
Any idea which firearm screw set would work for the IWI Masada Slim?
We would suggest reaching out to IWI for the specs on their thread pitch! You could also try the screws that come with the Defender and see if any of those work.
These defenders are awesome
Always wanted a micro red dot.
We can help with that 🙃
Does it Co-witness standard 43x sight or will suppressor height sights be needed?
Yes, it will co-witness with standard 43x sights, no plate needed!
will this fit a Springfield hellcat pro?
Hope to try one very soon
I've a Glock 20 Gen5 MOS & the Defender CCW 3MOA. Glock has 2 adapters that list Vortex. 05 (27.5mm) plate does not work. Lugs do not match the optic. 01 plate would be too narrow.
Fits nicely on my G19 mos. G20 might be too big for this dot
Been eyeing that seriously
👀 let us know if you have any questions about it!
Great Video!
Great how to video
Do I need a plate to mount the Defender ccw on S&W M&P 22mag 12:24 pm
Awesome video.
I like my vortex optics!
We like you! 🫶
I've seen this mounted to a xdm elite and it has screws for it but im not sure how it was done. Can anyone help?
Looks nice, now you need to do a closed emitter style!
We appreciate your feedback, and will be sure to pass it along! We're always working on new products so stay tuned!
How do you remove the plate that it came on? I keep turning the two screws and they just turn and turn and turn and won’t come lose. Please help me
Great instructions
