    I bought that trike last year and I am so happy I did I use it to go fishing here in South Florida. I found a way to carry my fishing rods and still be able to use both hands on the bars lots of fun on this trike. I forgot to say Im 75yrs old

    I’ve had mine for 2 months. I love it! I’m a 66 yr old woman with 5 vertebrae fused with rods and screws. This trike is awesome for walking my Labrador retriever with a bike tow leash! My only complaint is with FedEx! I saw the delivery guy kick the box off the back of the truck! Both my fenders were bent and it makes a funny sound when I use the brakes. This isn’t Lectric’s fault! FedEx did it!

      Fedx dropped my radrunner as he was unloading it. It’s not his fault the large bulky heavy package is TOO hard for one man to handle. The radrunner is a perfect utility bike but a little too heavy for this 75 year old. My current bike is a little lower to the ground. I’m 75 and would say that a lower wheel base bike and a required step thru is a requirement for older riders and a good idea for everyone in that it’s easier to quickly and safely dismount.

    As with automobiles and trucks, we need long term experience with ebikes. That's hard to do with the Lectric Trike as it is so new, but here is my experience. Today Lectric is sending me a return box before sending me a replacement Trike. The initial problems were FedEx mishandling the shipment. My box arrived late, torn and taped up. The bike had bent and dented fenders and one wheel warped beyond what spoke adjustment could correct, but ridable. At only 35 miles on the trike, a wheel bearing began cracking like a ball bearing was hanging up. The parking brake levers, a very nice to have feature, have had both tips, or pawls, break off. I think it's because of poor choice of metal. Its seems to be that Lectric deems the bearing not worth or able to be replaced. I contacted an affiliate bike shop and they said that they had one come in for the bearing failure and it was replaced with a new Trike.
    The problem that I see with a replacement trike, is the same issues are likely to happen. Shipping damage and the same bearings and parking brake lever material. I'm sure they will remedy the issues given some time. I've considered other trikes. The only one that approaches the Lectric is the Rad but all things being equal, I prefer the design of the Lectric. As I already have two 3.0's from them and have had no quality issues, "Two out of three ain't bad".

    While I have two other ebikes, I bought the Trike for my wife who can't handle the complexity of a bicycle. I find myself using the trike to walk and run our border collie. It works great for that and great for my aging legs.

    This is an excellent review of a trike I’ve been considering purchasing. I am only about an inch and a half taller than the mom, ((but significantly older!), so I appreciated her demonstration. I saw a video with the three guys who designed this trike, and was very impressed with them, their entrepreneurship, and the trike itself. It is not as heavy as most of the other trikes on the market. If it’s still the same case as when I saw that video, it is made of aluminum instead of steel. For an older person, especially a small person, that’s a plus. Thanks for this review!

    Lectric does offer a hitch and tow bar so their “ wag along “ trailer can be used with the trike.

    I JUST GOT MY TRIKE FIVE HOURS AGO. IT DID NOT TAKE 15 MINUTES. IT TOOK ALMOST 20! LMAO. I LET MY BIG BROTHER; WHO IS 80, TAKE THE FIRST RIDE. HE DID NOT WANT TO GIVE IT BACK. WE RODE LARGE MOTORCYCLES, THEN VERTIGO SET IN ON US IN OUR 70’s. NO MORE BIKIN! I FINALLY GOT IT BACK FROM HIM. AS WE TOOK IT FOR RIDES WITHOUT CHARGE, I GOT ON IT AND BASICALLY THREE HOURS LATER, I FINALLY GOT OFF OF IT. MORE FUN THAN BEING A TEENAGER AGAIN. EVERYTHING YOU AND OTHERS HAVE SAID CONCERNING ITS CAPABILITIES IS THE DEAD TRUTH. IN FACT, DURING MY RIDES, I WAS STOPPED BY MANY, MANY OTHER SENIORS AND YOUNG FOKE ABOUT MY TRIKE. ALL DUG ITS LOOKS, AND I JUST COULD NOT GIT OFF OF IT. BUT THE SUN WENT DOWN AND THE POWER LINE WAS LOOKING LIKE A QUARTER CHARGE LEFT. I RODE IT AROUND MY AREA TO SEE JUST HOW FAR IT WOULD TAKE ME, BUT AGAIN, I HAD TO QUIT BECAUSE OF DARKNESS. TOMORROW WE WILL FIND OUT JUST ABOUT HOW FAR IT WILL HAUL ME AND MY SHIH TZU PUPPY. ALL REPORTS BASICALLY SAY 60 MILES, BUT OTHER REVIEWS POINT OUT THE POWER LEVELS AND HOW MUCH YOU PUT INTO THE RIDE, SO I BELIEVE 30-40 MILES RANGE IS GREAT. I HAVE TO GO BUY A SMALL TRAILER TO PUT IT IN, YOU ARE PERFECTLY CORRECT, NONE OF US SENIORS CAN LIFT IT INTO THE SUV! TRAILER WITH A RAMP, AND WHO KNOWS WHERE I WILL BE. THANKS FOR A GREAT REVIEW. I’M ORDERING TURN SIGNALS AND FLASHING LED LIGHTS. YOU WILL SEE ME!!

    Just got my trike up and running. Had it since May of this year but has been a challenge getting it in riding shape. Arrived with bent fenders that rubbed on the tires and had problems getting it to come on as the battery was not hooked up. Once I plugged it in it was fine. Rode it for the first time today and I have to admit it was a bit scary. I have serious mobility issues so it was an adventure to say the least. Had difficulty getting the front basket on but was finally able to figure it out. I will ride it more in the future but I must admit it is not the most comfortable bike to ride. The pedals are too far back for me and I had and am still having issues with the seat. I honestly wish you guys made a recumbent electric trike. Maybe that is something for you to think about. My next one will defintely be a recumbent.

    • @COddietsch
      @COddietsch ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking about getting this for my wife because of balance issues and the seat as well. But the seat looks like they didn't think it through and an after thought. It looks like it sits too forward and the back is too low. Now, this is just a thought and people might think what the heck, but if you took a gaming chair / office chair and had it welded to the post of this bike ? It might be overkill but it would be comfy. Maybe something more suttle. Good luck to you.

    I really loved your "review / sales pitch" for the rad. It's been a real success for Rad which explains why they just dumped the price to $1299 ! Love my Lectric trike, and they're not even paying me to give a great review.

  • @Benjamin_Jehne

    I think that this bike is such a good option for so many people out there. For elders something like this could be the way to stay mobile without a car. Also for people with some kind of disabilities etc.. The price makes it ultra affordable. Nothing is cheaper to rund. Park it in your garage, go shopping or visit your doctor etc. just super good. And the speed is absolutely fine, as most people who will buy this, shouldn't go any faster. I'm really impressed by what Lectric is doing and even if the term "game changer" is used to often, but this trike is a real game changer. Trike like the one from Radpowerbikes are so overpriced and underspect, but here you get a full package. Even the upgrades are super affordable. Rad would charge the tripple the price.

  • @lynnglidewell7367
    @lynnglidewell7367 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Fifty miles on a charge is great. It's maximum speed of 14 mph is enough for me. The tendency to tip on turns is unsettling however. We older folks don't respond as quickly to things like that. The step through design compensates for some of that concern if a tip becomes problematic you can get yours legs down quickly to prevent a fall. I wish the video had spoke more about throttle and peddle assist then what it did. Also how is it on climbing upgrades and small hills that's something we need to know also. How much does the battery weigh if I take it off and carry it into a store with me? Still some questions that need answering.

      @@Electrek Unfortunately so true! I added a 5 kW motor to my recumbent Fat Tad CXS and it still cost less than buying one with a motor already installed. I would love to see you guys do videos on people's extreme custom electric unicycle, bikes, trikes, quads and other custom electric micro mobility. So many people are not aware of all the options out there, or what they could build.

      Years ago, I owned a lovely older Catrike, which I bought used for $800. I invested an additional $400 for new tires, fenders, and other upgrades. I sold it three years ago. With the current conversion kits, it would be easy to convert it to electric. However, I believe the challenge for seniors with recumbent trikes is getting in and out of them due to their low ground clearance.

    • @foodforestretirement2799
      @foodforestretirement2799 ปีที่แล้ว

      @jacobschwartz6721 You can set the tire diameter down and just use the throttle. You legs can't pedal as fast as the 36 tooth chainring spins at that speed.

    • @jacobschwartz6721

    • @foodforestretirement2799
      @foodforestretirement2799 ปีที่แล้ว

      @jacobschwartz6721 It comes from the factory set at 21.3
      When you set it 18 and below you will get noticeable difference. Set it to 14 and for sure it will top out at the hard limit which is 18 mph + depending on your actual tire size.

    In my research of Trikes, I see a lot of seniors purchasing trikes for mobility as if it were a golf cart, and not for self pedaling. This trike looks good to me but don't want to be viewed as being dependent on the Power Assist. This motor size seems fine without the fear of it taking off and leaving me sitting on the ground or tossing me over the handlebars. I am concerned about the tip over of some trikes. My husband thinks I should get a regular Ebike but not sure I agree. I am soon to be 72. I am 5'2 and in relatively good health.

    At 61, with neuropathy in my feet due to diabetes, and some balance issues, I'm grudgingly accepting the idea that a trike would likely work better for me. Have followed your channel with much interest as I'll also be on a limited budget when I'm 67 and think a car replacement will make a huge difference. I am willing to spend a bit more to insure I get quality components that'll last. So in terms of durability how does the Lectric stack up to other options like Evelo or Addmotor? I'll be in dry air New Mexico so not concerned about rust. Just want it to last.

  • @kurisu7885

    I've been shopping around for mobility options. One of my first thoughts was a moped trike, but those are even harder to find than electric trikes, then I found out about this one not too long ago before it came out and it quickly shot to the top of my list and remains there. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but man do I want one. And my dad is intrigued now because he found out about the brand, and he';s a trucker so a folding ebike would be perfect for him. And yeah an elderly person might have issues lifting it, but this thing could also easily fit in storage on an RV or camper.
    But yeah, it was a bit of a tossup between this, the Liberty Trike, and a cheaper one i found on Amazon, but with all the features this one has, especially the safety lights, and the support base in the US, this one kicked those two down the metaphorical hill. Might do my own review when the time comes.

    This lectric tryke is the best purchase i have made in twenty years!
    I couldnt get on another tryke( forget about a bike!). I can stand on a pedal with all my 220 pounds and then put my other foot on the solid center of the frame while everything is totally stable! I cant walk because of spinal illness. Too much pain.
    If i only used this tryke to move my legs enough to keep my joi ts from rotting, it is still worth 10 times the price of therapy at a gym!
    I live in a small town. Everything is in a 3mile radius. I get everywhere faster thsn i could in a car!
    I also must say that the customer service is beyond excellent! Real people fix my problems.
    I spend more time explaning to people and sharing my happiness than i do riding and shopping.
    Any one considering something like this should buy THIS ONE!

    I have had trikes for over 10 years. Chinese Trike Bike, one front wheel electric and one just pedal driven. Well used mostly good value. Electric controller failed and replacement unavailable. One wheel bearing failed, I replaced this with a quality bearing for about $16. Constant checking of spoke tension is required maintenance. The crank bearings failed ( due to bearing caps being out of adjustment) so these were replaced with sealed units. I have worn out several drive tyres which is acceptable wear. Both bikes have rear disk brakes, cable which are fine, front calliper brakes which are ok, check adjustment and wear regularly. I use these bikes for shopping and they come with front and rear baskets so they carry a fair load. I have found regular maintenance will negate so of the initial problems I had especially the spoke tension. The good thing about trikes is that you can ride slowly, stop and park then lock the brakes without dismounting. The company I purchased these in Australia provided regular emails to remind me of the necessary maintenance requirements which was helpful.

The latest responce is to send me a new latch, its not the latch its the frame and so they tell me oh, they will have to get with the manager. Eh, I dunno. I've had a rear drive trike before and it wears out the drive wheel tire rather fast. Only one wheel is actually connected and locked on trikes as a sort of differential. All my front drive trikes did fine without much tire wear and no slip, except for the first hub kit I got that put all the power into the wheel regardless of how easy you were on the throttle. The only real downside I had was I wanted springers on the front for that classic look and the hub drive would fully compact the springs and lock the whole front end up.
    Biggest issues I had with any trike was always the fenders bouncing around against the tires and those stupid band brakes on the rear axle

      A trike does not lean, and feels real twitchy in turns to someone who rode an basic bicycle for years. A bigger/second battery might be desirable if you are riding distance in hilly area. OTOH I would like a second gear while pedaling. I find having to really pedal too fast at 10MPH

      It’s all relative. Many e-trikes are $2k-$3k. So while $1.5k isn’t small money, it kind of is in the world of e-trikes.

    Lists peak wattage only, refuses to say what the wattage is, REAL good indicator the wattage isnt what you want. At 500 Watts the issue is over. Looking for more power.
    Max weight limit is 415 lbs. This is good. Meets minimum needs, but the choking power limits its value. No mention of gears. A single gear drive will make that low power motor look sad on the hills.

    I have the trike and it's decent. The brake levers are pretty terrible. It is very digital feeling and no way to adjust that. The front light is not very bright. There is definitely an issue with the walk mode where it uses too much power and take too long to stop. Over all it's decent and good enough for most people. But it's very easy to see the corners they cut

    I wish I didn't have to write this review. These bikes are junk in our view. I bought two of them in July of 2023, by October both bikes have a bad axle bearing on the rear. This is with only neighborhood rides and no speed above 2. total miles on one is 117 and on the other 102. this bearing is not repairable and Lectric e-bikes said to send them back for rapair. We live over a thousand miles away. They refused any help with shop manuals or tech support, just send them back. We have the bikes in our garage if anyone wishes to verify. Sorry. Don and Jenny

    I LOVE MY ETRIKE. BUT IF THE WIDTH WAS ANY WIDER, IT WOULD NOT GO THROUGHT A REGULAR HOME DOOR FRAME. I'M SIX FOOT, 190 FORMER PARATROOPER, I HAVE REPLACED THE SEAT AN ADDED THREE 3RD PARTY LED HEAD LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS AND THAT IS ANOTHER FEATURE, STOP LIGHTS STANDARD. HAVING RIDEN MOTORCYCLES FOR OVER 60 YEARS, THE TRIKE HAS ALLOWED ME EVEN AT 13 MPH, TO LIVE TO RIDE, RIDE TO LIVE. AND YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO HOP IT UP AND GO 25 MPH AS SOME HAVE DONE. IT TRUE SELLING POINT WAS THIER VIDEO OF MAN, WITH TWO PROSTHETIC LEGS CLIMB ON AND FIVE PEOPLE TWO FEMALES THAT WERE VERY HEALTHY. OH YEAH. IT TOOK ME DAMN NEAR 20 MINUTES INSTEAD OF THE 15 MINUTES STATED, BUT THEN I AM 78.
