    Hi Mr. Kent, my husband is almost 87 and just recently got a trike. It is more stable after a stroke and so far he's doing great. I am 82 and have had my trike since last year and love it. God willing we both will have this freedom for a few more years.

      Thank you for your comment and kind words. Yes, he will love the trike. But it takes a little "getting used to". My first try on it was a little scary because when it started to go right I tried to correct it by going left and totally lost control. But after that it was a matter of learning the difference between a bike and a trike. Thank you for your comment and kind words and may God bless you folks also.

    E-Bikes have been on the ride in my area the past few months, so much so that I'm starting to see E-Trikes on the road too! I know two people who own one, and I may have even seen another one, and I'm seeing about as many E-Bikes as regular bikes, possibly slightly more now. It warms my heart as an E-Bike owner and guru (starting a bike mechanic side hustle this year) to see more of it. On the downside, there's no clean-up crew for bike lanes here, and bike lanes are home to dangerous debris and litter like broken glass and nails/screws so I hope to see that change for the future.

    • @user-sr8pn9xg8z
      @user-sr8pn9xg8z  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Thank you for your comment Mike. You know what you're talking about on the bike lanes. I've picked up debris in my tire and almost flat by the time I got home. Thanks again for your comment and have a great new year. God bless.

      I think anyone who isn't trying to shave every gram of weight off their bike, is well served to not only use extra-thick tubes (tubeless is _not_ more durable; tests prove it) but to *add a good volume of nice thick slime sealant.*
      I've had 1/4” holes that self sealed (& later spit the goo out while crossing rail tracks & then resealed with more goo over the next few rotations).
      I no longer consider a bike ready to ride, until there's a generous pool of thick sticky sealant in the tubes.
      (Slime™ brand tubes are not great, but their bottles\jugs of sealant work great with "thorn resistant" tubes.)
      Tip: Always get the valve stem at a downward angle (4 o'clock or 8 o'clock) before filling/deflating, so the valve stem doesn't get clogged by sealant. Fine for me: I don't have to bend over as far!

      @@prophetzarquon Airless tires ?

    • @prophetzarquon
      @prophetzarquon 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@shirleyrichard-qv9lw They exist... They handle sloppily, & weigh even more than tires with double-thick tubes & twice the recommended sealant. The higher material compression friction results in higher drag with airless tires, too. Also, with airless, the bead is more likely to unseat. Aaaand they're more expensive.
      I've had thick sealant & a "thorn resistant" tube, seal a pencil-diameter hole. I've got zero worries with thorns or nails or glass, & I've had a lot less trouble with "slow leaks". Personally, I swear by the stuff; it wasn't until I saw empirical testing find that tubeless isn't lower maintenance, that I knew I wasn't kidding myself, though.
      That... & *low-pressure tires.*
      _I had no idea._
      All this time riding around on tires made for 60 PSI, it wasn't until I tried the same tread pattern & compound, back-to-back with a 30 PSI tire, that I comprehended what a difference it makes. They roll _so_ much easier. 🤯
      Side bonus? Even fewer flats.

    Congratulations on the new trike! This is the one I plan on buying next spring or summer. I had a stroke a few years ago and no longer have the muscle strength and control or balance to ride a bicycle. If you haven't already contacted Lectric you can send them pictures of the damaged fenders and they'll send you new ones. It's a pretty common issue unfortunately. I hope you get many years of enjoyment with it.

    • @user-sr8pn9xg8z
      @user-sr8pn9xg8z  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thank you for your comment. Yep, now I wish I had thought of this before. I'm just getting broken in on it but I plan to have some good times riding with it. I'm not going to be concerned about the fenders, it wasn't Lectric's fault and they don't bother the riding any. I'm sorry to hear about your stroke. I have now had two minor strokes: they are no fun at all. Thanks again for your input and God bless.

      Hiya Buddy : It looks like this would be a good choice for me , since I just had stem cell therapy for a hip injury which I hope after a few more months will be cured but to have my motorcycle I decided against it as I am 71 years old. So it seems like this would be pretty good to get out and ride around on my property and not really go to the store because I'd have to go on a couple of highways to get to town so that's an out , but riding around the country roads will be much fun too. So an e - trike is the way to go for me too. Enjoy and keep on Trikin' John Wayne

    I'm 68 and just recently got a Etrike. So far I road it to pick up groceries about 16 miles round trip. I only grocery shop once a month at the big store in town . But I ride it about half a dozen times a month to the corner store to pick up little things like milk. The great thing about a ebike is you never have to buy gas again. Don't know how long it will be before I have to dish out for something expensive like a battery but I imagine it would last about two or three years.

    I think of something like this as a mobile platform I can work from. Perfect for carrying your toolbox, beverages, and stuff around the yard. You could carry a battery for jump-starting vehicles. I'd have a bigger chair like seat on a swivel, and a sun parasol. It's like having a yard chair thats self-propelled. You can add an electric hub to the front, and have AWD. You can pull a wagon if needed.

    Thanks for helping to narrow this down for a purchase. My mother will be 70 in a couple of months and there is no way I can see her on a bike anymore. She needs to get out of the house and be active so I decided to get her an E trike. I have a couple of different trikes I am looking at. I may decide to go with a fat tire and a 750-watt motor so that she can make it through grass, sand, and hills. RWD is definitely something to consider. When I try going through a mess on my E-bike with the FWD motor, I just spin. I don't want to get a call from Mom that she went mudding in her trike and needs me to show up with a winch to pull her out from somewhere 20 miles down the road.

      Thank you for your comment Jessica. The XP has a 750 watt motor but just regular tires. Whenever I get bogged down or think I might I just click in higher PA. I didn't mention it in the video but the XP has an aluminum frame, if that's helpful. Have fun spoiling your mother and God bless.

    Great review on the Lectric Etrike! The M5 Dashboard LCD display I think is one of the best out there since it's easy to see in bright sunlight and gives the user
    all of the information on the battery/controller status. I have a M5 on my Emoped and it is real handy with Voltage/Current display status of the bike and batteries.
    The controller and LCD display might have some advanced functions available for you like a CruiseControl function so you might want to contact Lectric
    concerning them. Be real careful on setting any of them since they can affect the operation of the trike.

    Hey there. I found this vidso just in time i think, as i been looking at and trying to decide which ebike to get but seeing as how im 66 myself, after all the years with as many injuries ive collected, compression fracture of my back, knee surgery, falling off back of one of my mountain bikes 15 years ago and having 2 3" screws in for that one and arthritis from all that and more, been leaning towards maybe a trike is the way to go. At 1st top speed doesnt sound all that exciting but gotta keep telling myself i really am not 18 years old any more and dont know how many more injuries like those ive had already i can expect to recover from, and live through much less survive. I like that your attitude and out look on things seems to be quite similar to my own so im subscribing now so guess you may have to put up with some of my comments now and then but you'll get over it. Just kidding, you totally rock and i do look forward to seeing more of your experiences. God bless both you and your wife and take care in the trying times ahead. Love ya all, bye.

    Thank you for the great video, you are correct about what you are getting for the price is fantastic. I really like that it is a rear wheel drive and the frame looks heavy duty. I can still ride my two wheeler e-bike but like you have had my share of ER trips for it and have built a few and looked at other front wheel drive trikes and have discovered either they have poor climbing traction and or the forks are not truly suited for the torque. As for the speed you are spot on again with a trike but too last time I checked 13 mph is faster than walking. My wife is always wanting to ride my three wheelers as they pass through my collection and she hates the lean. Our street really bows and if you are not ready for it you will be all over the curbs. I like really everything about this trike and I normally would not buy what I could build but they did it right. thanks again.

    I have an e-trike for winter riding. Lot easier staying upright on three wheels than two.
    Of the three trikes I've had all were front wheel and never had a traction problem with them. They'd even plow through snow banks with ease. Loaded up with groceries was no issue. Only issue I ever really had was one I built myself and used an unbranded kit for it. this kit applied 100% power no matter how much you twisted the grip, so you had to start it by pedaling or else the front wheel would torque off its mounts or bend the forks. Needless to say that one only lasted a season before it tore itself apart

    Hey Mr Kent. I'm 69 and also live in AZ. Been riding ebikes for the last 7 years. The Lectric trike is definitely the best trike for the money. I checked a month or 2 ago and the Addmotor semi-recumbent trike is now also rear-wheel drive (it's nice, but it's still over twice as expensive). I'll ride 2 wheelers as long as I can, but if I had to buy a trike today, I'd buy the Lectric too. Giving you another subscriber, old timer! 👍

    I'm 77 and ride recumbent trikes. Never heard of a front-wheel drive trike until now. One of my trikes is e-assist; the other isn't. I guess the drawback for older riders on a recumbent trike is low seated position. May not easily be able get down and up from one. I can do it. The other issue with the recumbent trike is price - much higher priced than what you are talking about. My battery is the same as yours and 3 wheels, 2 in front and the drive wheel in the rear - those are the main similarity to yours. Thanks for this video! When I get old, I may need to switch to something like this!

    Well Kent, I think I've got you beat. I live in North Dakota and I'm 83. I received my XP E-trike in May and so far I have over 100 miles on it. I planned on putting it away by the end of October, It's now the 19th of December and I'm still riding. We have had some snow and cold temperatures, but you just put more clothes on. I'm really surprised how well this trike does on snowy streets. I do bring the battery in at night, They say these batteries don't do good if they get too cold. I'm getting about 25 miles per charge. I'm hoping Lectric will come out with a trike with fat tires and maybe a little suspension built in. This one is pretty rough riding . My streets are all dirt. I have a fishing pond about 7 miles away, and I made one tripe out there this fall. Enjoyed the morning out very much. Evidently I'm heavier than you because I only get 11 to 12 mph. I'm not in a hurry anymore. Enjoy that new trike. Sounds like your kid like's it too. Great.

    • @user-sr8pn9xg8z
      @user-sr8pn9xg8z  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment and story Del. When I was riding my e-bike, it has fat tires but I learned that they were even smoother with a lower amount of air. I only filled the back tire with about ten pounds of air and the front with about 18 pounds. When I got the trike I decided that with two back tires I could lower their pressure also. I fill them with about 10 or 11 pounds and only about 15 in the front. You might experiment around with that. I don't have any trouble with tires coming off or bottoming out. I hope you are carrying something to pump up your tires if they get a slow leak. If you have any questions about what I use etc. (mrkent.com@gmail.com). If I ride tomorrow I will hit 300 miles, but that's small compared to the over 2000 miles I put on my e-bike. It's been nice meeting you Del. Stay in touch from time to time and have a very merry Christmas. God bless.

      Thank you for your comment and story RJ. Yes, I still have the same bike but it is a replacement that Lectric ebikes sent me when the first one had issues after 1000 miles. It is a great trike made by a great company. Enjoy your new bike when you get it (Christmas . . ?). Thanks again for the comment and God bless.

    What a great review! Thank you! I’m still on an eBike, but always wondering about a trike and now, because of you, I have no more doubts! I love my Lectric Lite and will love this trike when I decide to switch! 😊 I live in Michigan and would love to live in Arizona in the winters. This was my first time seeing one of your videos, so I’ll subscribe to help you out. Thank you! God bless.

      Well, thank you for your comment and subscription. Yep, I did a lot of looking and that's why I selected the Lectric e-trike. I think you will really love it (once you get used to NOT trying to balance it). That was difficult for me to get used to after balancing on two wheels all my life :) You have a merry Christmas and if you have any questions just let me know. You can find my email address at my website, www.mrkent.com. Thanks again and God bless.

    God bless you for this. I was wondering when the tires have air let out to make bumpy roads easier when on the smooth pavement will the lower air ires be more prone to get a flat?

    • @user-sr8pn9xg8z

      Thank you for your comment and question Andre. There is still plenty of air in the tire, it doesn't even look like there is any air missing. I have been doing this for several years and never had a problem. Thanks again and God bless.

    Thank you.
    I've passed 80 and am still going but I'm thinking of an e-trike as easy transport for the half mile to the grocery store and pharmacy ;-)I think I'll add a couple of the fiberglass rods with orange flags so the guy playing with his phone as he drives won't get away with saying "I didn't see him!"
    I like the stability of a trike and I definitely want rear wheel drive. Do you remember Volkswagen's front-wheel-drive truck? Couldn't climb hills when the road was wet and couldn't carry much of a load up that hill when the road was dry.
    If I do go the e-trike route, I'll add a remote for the garage door to my keyring so I'll have easy in/out of the garage for out-of-the-weather parking, plus a shaded place for charging. We get serious rain in winter and spring - plus occasional ice in winter - and we get 90+ days in the summer ;-)

    Mr. Kent, you’re an inspiration. Thank you. I don’t ride bikes because my balance is awful due to health issues. I am drooling over all the eTrike videos but am stalling because I can’t afford it. When I can no longer drive I will get an eTrike.

    Thank you for this review. I am considering getting this for my 76-year-old mother with serious knee problems. She loved to bike ride when we were younger. It would be wonderful to take her back to the park to do more than our weekly wheelchair walk (I push her). We have a good time on those outings, but she would be so much happier with being able to be on a bike under her own control.

    • @user-sr8pn9xg8z
      @user-sr8pn9xg8z  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment. If she liked riding before I'm pretty sure she would like it now. The nice thing about it is, once you get used to it pedaling takes very little effort. And you still get the exercise. Thanks again for your comment and God bless you and your mother.

    73, here. I have this trike and a Worksman Industrial that I put a motorized wheel on the front. There actually is a great benefit to front wheel drive. When and if you need it, you simply do a bit of pedalling, and now you have all-wheel drive. Not so with the rear-wheel drive. I love them both, though.

    Perfect way to get around town. Go to the bars, shopping.
    Cheap, easy parking.
    What wattage is the motor ?
    I would think minimum of 500w would be needed for any hills.

    • @user-sr8pn9xg8z
      @user-sr8pn9xg8z  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment Paul. Yep, I'm having more fun on it than I did on my e-bike. In the manual and on videos I believe it is 750 watts, but I don't trust my memory. My last e-bike went from 500 t0 750 when I replaced the motor. The main reason for the good hill climbing is due to the way they have geared it down to prevent going too fast for a trike. Thanks again for the comment, input and please have a merry Christmas. God bless.

    What a wonderful review. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I know I’m a few months late here, but it just popped up for me on TH-cam. I’m 78 years into life, and I want to start riding again. It’s been awhile. They say it’s easy to jump back on a bike after a little lay off, so to speak. I’m trying to decide on what type of e-bike to get. A regular bike or trike. I’m ok health wise other than bad knees, hence the need/desire to go for an e-bike. But, as time goes on, how will my health be. Who knows. Do I get a regular bike that maybe a year from now I won’t be able to ride anymore, or get the trike that will definitely go the distance, my distance, that is. Thank you Mr Kent. I hope you are well.

      Thank you for your comment and input Kelala. It's a tough decision. I can't advise you except to say, you will have to pedal harder on a bike than on the trike because of the way they are made. If you still have good balance with no dizziness the bike would give you more exercise. I hope that helps. Thank you for your kind words and God bless.

    Took delivery of an XP Trike a little over a week ago. I'm only 65 years old, but I have a inoperable lower back injury that has left my legs almost paralyzed. Need a walker to get around, legs are getting weaker probably be in a wheelchair in a few months. Anyway, use to ride my bicycle all over, would typically put on 1000+ miles a year. Can't do that anymore, I end up crashed with the bike on top of me. It's winter here in Colorado so I've only been able to take a couple of rides on the trike. Gotta get use to not having to put my legs down when I stop. Feels weird when I'm riding on sloped pavement, like the trike is going to flip over. I'm starting to get use to that so my anxiety isn't as high. 😂My legs are so weak I can hardly pedal, though I do a little bit for exercise. My walker does fold up, so I may figure a way to fasten it to the back basket. I worry about having a breakdown and not being able to walk. I do carry a spare folding tire and inner tube in case I have a blowout (happened to me once on my bike and I had to push it 4 miles home. But that was years ago and my legs were still good). Anyway, I refuse to sit around the house and feel sorry for myself, I'm getting out for some sunshine and fresh air! 😃

    • @user-sr8pn9xg8z
      @user-sr8pn9xg8z  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! I appreciate and respect your attitude. Use bunji cords to hold your walker down. I carry several of them with me in my pouches. As a suggestion, whenever I'm starting I give it a little throttle to get moving. Then pedaling is much easier and turns out to be mostly movement exercise. The tilting is a bit to get used to. My son tried to tip mine over on a sharp corner and it only got up on two wheels and came back down. The thing I am learning is, if it looks dangerous slow down. I'm never in a hurry. If one of the back wheels rolls into a rut going slow it will not throw you around so much as if you were flying along. That might flip you over because of the speed.
      I have the greatest respect for your attitude. I would like to hear more of your story and get to know you better if you are interested. My email address is:

    Thank you for your video. I stopped riding bikes about 20 years ago. Too much weight and a bit of a leg issue. I am no longer all original parts so I was terrified of falling. I have seen the trikes and wondered about having the power to pedal but maybe an e-bike would be the thing. I. Would need to test drive one first and they are not too keen letting you loose on their expensive machines. I will have to find a rental place. 76 is not too old for my second childhood!

      Thank you for your comment Kathleen. FYI The Lectric Ebike showrooms allow you to make a test ride. The etrike design makes peddling easier than even an ebike is. I hope you can get one, I love mine. At present I have over 1500 miles on mine. Thanks again for your comment and info and God bless you.
