Nice review. For numerous reasons, I feel the XP is better set up for its intended market. The step through is lower, the rear wheelbase is a bit wider offering a little better/improved stability and the PAS settings offer improved speed ranges and acceleration tuned better for beginners. Keep in mind that most of the important settings one would want to change including torque, are adjustable with the XP. I just wanted to clarify another point. As far as the acceleration of the XP, the torque is VERY easily adjustable using the settings menu to any one of 5 levels, from gentle to much more aggressive. I find the default settings nice and have never adjusted them. Also, the top speeds in PAS 1 & 2 are intentionally slower than the top speed of PAS 3, 4 and 5. Again, an important consideration for new trike riders. But even these limits are adjustable by the user through the settings menu and can be set to be higher in PAS 1 and PAS 2 if desired (to 14mph). Are the settings adjustable with the Mooncool? WAKING UP THE BATTERY only has to be done once after the battery is recharged and it stays 'awake' for up to two days. Not sure why it has to be woken up even once... It appears both trikes max out at about 8mph for those that want to pedal with reasonable resistance without ghost pedaling. Not surprising for a single gear trike. The maximum speed of the XP trike can be reduced to eliminate ghost pedaling, which I do. An option for gears on both trikes would have been nice. Overall, these trikes seem to be very, very similar and I think anyone considering either one will be happy with whichever one they choose. I have about 2500 trouble free miles on my XP although my seat partially broke (a weld point separated) and Lectric responded to me within hours, sent me a replacement seat that was immediately shipped (next day after my initial email to them) and delivered within a week - excellent customer service! Other than that, my trike has functioned flawlessly. I ride it almost every day, 13-17 miles. I am enjoying it so much!
You only have to wake up the battery on the Lectric if it hasn't been used in 48 hrs. I consider that a good feature to save the battery from being dead , when not used in a while. I have the Lectric & have had zero problems. After viewing this video, I would buy the Lectric again.
Not true with mine. It can sit for about an hour and I have to wake up the battery. Very annoying. But it's good to hear that not all of them are like mine. Makes me wonder how they were designed. So either mine or yours isn't going to sleep properly. hmmm.
Thanks for the review, sir! I didn't know about Moon Cool. Before I knew about Lectric I was considering a Catrike with an "e" upgrade at a much higher investment price. I had been out of the biking world since I was doing Century's with my Trek aluminum bike on weekends with my local club. Now in my 60's fighting a torn ACL & insulin resistance it is more about a way to exercise gently without waiting to be at perfect health first. I also love rail trails and ham radios, thus a program called POTA (Parks On The Air) involves state, national, & Provincial Parks to be part of a program where you set up a low power radio & various antenna designs where you can Intersect 1 or more of these properties to make 10 contacts with your friends to "Activate" the location(s). This gets old hasbeens out of their basement ham radio shacks and into the fresh air, a win-win for my combined Hobby's as a full-time RVer. As far as which bike? Which one folds up more compactly to be carried in an RV? I may have to visit both or multiple showrooms in person to see for myself to give both a try before buying. Thanks for the reviews! Just order the xp trike. I had good customer service I called and order on phone. I like the fact that you have to power the trike on the battery. I see this as a safety feature I have grandchildren. They can push buttons on handle bars and nothing will happen. I also like that it has parking brake. I like that it starts out slower . I have'nt received it yet I hope everything is ok when I get it. I'm just going on your video. Thank you
Hi, well I hope it arrives safely for you. If not, just reach out to them right away. They have been fairly quick with getting broken parts replaced. I am sure you will like it a lot.
You don't HAVE to pedal to make the xp go... I got that answer straight from lectric themselves. You can use throttle only without using the pedals at all
While you were comparing it would have been very simple to look at the differentials on both trikes. Lectric XP trike rear end assembly is made by Taikin in China and I would also bet that the Mooncool differential is marked the same way which would mean the bearings would be the same also. That is a major point when comparing.
On the rear brake, Lectric has the caliper on the top with a guard on the bottom of the disk. Mooncool has the caliper on the bottom close to ground and no guard. This could be problem if you have to go over any type of bumps. Good review.
Thank you Rich for a detailed review of the two.trikes. I am looking at both and also addmotor. This video helped me closer to that decision. Mooncool now has a parking break on their trikes!
I think appearance wise they’re very similar. I prefer the Mooncool but I think you’re right about the brakes. Huge mistake not putting parking brakes on I mean seriously what was it another five cents. Seems like that’s a must have on a trike. Great comparison Richard.
It is nice to know there are more options. For me the lectric pluses are 2 speeds that it can be used as a mobility device the grips look way better and the parking break. The great accessory package, price, the ability to rear tow, option for things like a rear child seat. 3 year warranty option. Moonvools advantages are the faster speeds, widths that will fit into my storage room and turning. I love the fat tires for winter. The irony is.... what will win me over I don't see yet. A bike service shop that will do the warranty and maintenance in my area. (Calgary Alberta) I mean would you buy a var you can't get parts for fast and have a warranty covered?
Having to turn the battery on/off is a plus, if anyone tried to steal the trike they might not realise the battery has to be woken up first, whenever I leave my ebike unattended I always turn the battery off!
I just bought the moon oil and after watching your video, I’m glad I chose that. I ordered mine from Walmart because they will honor my on line purchase at the local store and moon oil offered me 4 years protec for $77.
I figure having the motor in the rear of a Trike would be a bit off balanced when having heavy cargo as the front handlebars will get a bit wobbles at certain times depending on weight, speed and terrain. Having the motor in the front for Trikes maybe more useful of overall balanced from reart to front of the handlebars more control comfort. I notice this with other regular ebikes as well, especially the Fat Tires as I bought a Fat Tire regular ebike and added a 2nd motor in the front to counter this overlooked issues of ebikes. These Trikes here in video are very cool and gave me a look into choices on getting a E Trike Bike but Im going to have heavy load of 40lbs daily so this video gives me what I need to know.
We have the XP, it folds up much better then the Moon Cool. The grunt wheel will tuck inside the left wheel. On another video it didn't do that. But the moon has a quick release wheel.
I'm exploring e-trikes for a friend. I've got a lot of miles on my non electric bikes and some 500+ on my brand X fat tired ebike. Bearings falling out of wheels and sloppy packing? Well sign me up for a Mooncool though I dislike that name. No parking brake, no problem. A velcro strap has served me well on my recumbent tadpole trike. But I'm not understanding something, why no "speeds"? I understand the inherent stability issues with delta configured trikes and think that speed limiting the trike to 15 is a great idea, but that simple going up the bump into your driveway should not have been an issue. But like many nonpowered riders think, an ebike isn't about pedals and pedaling. Enjoyed your thorough review of the trikes and will look at your other trike reviews. Our needs in the rough roads of the desert is minimum 3" wheel, an easy step through for an old woman, baskets for errands and to carry the 11# dog and a 30 mile range. A unicorn?
Thanks for the comments. I didn't care for the Mooncool name either when I first heard about it. But its grown on me now that we have 3 of their etrikes. As for no speeds, that is down fall not having gears on the TK1. I have discussed that at length with them. Even though most trikes are limited to 15-16mph, they should have a gear set to make pedaling more comfortable at the higher speeds. The Mooncool Fat 20, is a 4" tire and it has a 7 speed gear set. It may be just what your looking for. As for range, it depends on the terrain, weight of the rider etc. But it may get close as long as your not riding at top speeds. Another option is to get a second battery. Addmotor has some trikes with larger batteries that may serve you well also. Sixthreezero has a couple of brand new fat tire trikes, but I don't know much about them yet.
Lectric bikes have a built-in soft take off at lower PAS levels, which is great for control. You can go into the menu setting P12 (PAS strength) and P22 (assistance level) to customize the take up and torque for hills.
the most alarming takeaway from the drive train statements was the comment about the rear differential bearings falling out of the Mooncool trike! I always feel like I'm buying a pig in a poke with these types of sales, but since there is no history available and no local displays here in the US where we could test-ride one, your type of review is what we must rely on. Thanks.
@@solistic33 Yes, the lectric bike not the moonbike That's a huge deal. If the bike is dead after that what happens if I'm out 30 miles on a trail with no access for my truck?
I’m confused as to why the trike would be dead after that. Rebuilding hubs is a very common thing. Can these hubs not be rebuilt? That’s concerning if that’s the case
I would choose the mooncool for the pink! I got the impression you are leaning more towards the moon cool. I ride trikes. Tipping over is a BIG part of what I am looking for. Color, tipping, cargo, comfort. All very very important.
@@EbikeReviews I don't like how that back wheel was coming up. Going down a slope at a higher speed and hitting a bump looked like it would be easy to overturn. My wife has balance issues which is why I'm looking at trikes.
I am so glad I ran across your site. I had taken an xp lectric out for a ride just the other day. I loved the gray with sparkle flecks. Very sharp design for a Trike. I had not considered a Trike as I love my Ebike and ride it each day 2 or 3 times aday. But, I also have a daughter that needs to be included in the joy of riding an ebike and getting out of the house. For some reason I felt trapped riding the xp trike/Lectric, After readjusting the seat and the handles, I still felt it was not for me nor my daughter. Coming across your site was a welcome home feeling as the Mooncool impressed me so much. Your site was excellent in comparing the trikes and this is what I wanted to see for sure. Everything you said was honest and compared the bikes without trying to favorite either one. I want to test ride the MoonCool and am hoping I will find the Trike close to my area. I feel, for some reason the MoonCool will not make me feel trapped and compressed into a tight area. I noticed the seat leans back a little further and this is what makes the MoonCool look larger, I think. I do not mind the seat not having a back rest as this too made me feel too close to the handles. Thank you for demonstrating them both. Now to find that MoonCool close to my home plus they have more color choices too. Yes!
I own a Lectric Trike and I love it. I have had it since they were first introduced. I sometimes ride it over rough terrain and even pull a small bike trailer to bring in heavy red oak firewood from my property with no problem at all. Trike has plenty of power. I am 74 years old and the Lectric Trike seems very stable to me and battery range is also great. Their customer service for me has been 1st class. I also have a Lectric 3.0 bike which also has been great with no problems.
I have the mooncool TK1 folding. It does have parking brakes. I am having trouble getting cruise to work. If you could do a video engaging cruise function, that would be great. I love my mooncool so far. All of your comments about it are so true. My first trike and I love it. Thank you for your informative video.
I noticed how you very subtly gave more credit to the MoonCool through the words you used. I couldn't help but feel you are in some way associated with the MoonCoiol company. I purchased the Lectric for the following plusses: both wheels are powered (something you didn't mention); seat suspension (much more important to me on a trike than fork suspension); the parking brakes and hydraulic brakes; display is larger and in the center; shorter step-over height; backrest on the seat; softer hand-grips and turning the motor on or off is no big deal for me.
You mentioned "both wheels are powered" (on the Lectric). On all trikes with true differentials, both rear wheels will be powered at all times, an important feature for me. Hope the author will clear this up.
I’d like to add that I put a front suspension on my Lectric Lite, so I’m sure you could have on put on their trike as well. The name of the game, for these companies, is to make improvements each year. I bet Moon Cool puts a parking brake on their new version, too. It’s fun to see all the improvements. At the same time, they are trying to keep costs down. I’m impressed they both have hydraulic brakes!
Thanks for your in depth comments. We’re looking for an e trike for my wife. The costs are similar. I do like the Lectric slow torque. My wife might get tossed if she could get up to a much faster speed more quickly. The bearing issue with the Lectric is a negative. Thanks very much.
I’m thinking about buying it but my father warned me that my uncle has it. He was hurt by turning like going to left or right turns and the trike and him fell. Same with my cousins too. My dad concerned about me getting hurt. The trike is really cool! Just be careful when you’re riding on it. Use your judgment.
@@mkelly4617 oh ouch! Do you think I can buy it or not? I had my knee injured twice not from the bike. Just fell myself like accident fell. Let me know what do you think. Thank you
My husband and I love our Lectric XP3.0 and Lectric XP lite e-bikes. I have a question about the Mooncool etrike brand - is it also foldable like the Lectric e-bikes? Thank you for sharing your video.
You said if the bearings fall out the trike, "is pretty much finished." I appreciate that non-standardized parts could be difficult to source, and bike shops may not have much experience with this type of rear axle, but is it really right to say the trike is trash when a bearing failure occurs. Is the race built into a portion of the frame and therefore there is catastrophic irreversible damage to a core component, or are you being hyperbolic when you imply it's not easily repaired at a bike shop?
I enjoyed your review, but if I do decide it will have to be the Lectric XP. Their customer service is reported as excellent and, I only live a few miles from their location. Now after watching your review, I have one major concern, bearings. Not a cheap fix, and like in so many products today, issues seem to happen right after the warranty expires. I don’t know if the bearing issue has been rectified, but until so, I will wait. Thanks again for the review.
I guess i will wait for the one that has better gears for lasting etrike: 1. Has to have a cassete, at least have 6-7 gears plus 2 front cogs, why? To keep from Ghost pedalling. 2. The back rest should come standard & removable. 3. The TK1 is foldable, so its a plus & on/off swutch to prevent fires. Curent "ON" prevents battery drain. 4. Clean up the wires. 5. Are side mirrors standard? 6. Speed, increase 750+ cuz its heaver, needs higher wattage for better speed hence the gears. Gears can give you torque and speed by changing geas & front cogs. Also with gears, if the battery runs out for some reason, one can always pedal home with less effort, hence the gear changes. 7. The company can always just used mechanical brakes in the back & disk in front for manufacturing price reduction. 8. Really need parking brakes. 9. Since you mentioned those companies needs to improve the Rear Axle. 10. Their support for replacement is not good, why buy it If you know it won't last long and parts are hard to come by especially the rear axle gears? Maybe its cuz its Chinese, nothing the make for the market lasts. If the U.S. manufacturers can make the same with better quality and better pricing, why buy foreign. I will wait until they both companies sell better models, & price reduction or an American company will somehow manufacture one to beat thise two. There are Ebikes out there that you can install baskets front and back for grocery runs and far much lesser in price. But for the mobility impaired, then this is their only option for them, for now. Thank you for your video. But I'll until i can no longer ride my ebike due age or mobility issues. Happy riding.
Please note Lectric is having financial issues, and also only took 1/3rd of their original order from the factory leaving the factory in distress. Many Chinese factories are closing down in e-bikes. Lectric focuses on putting out super cheap stuff, so there are no margins to reinvest. Moonkool 3” tires will be more comfortable plus the front shocks. Lectric has no dealers but Mookool is going through and recruiting dealers, so local service will be huge benefit of moonkool.
Nicely done comparison of XP Trike and Mookool TK1. Wonderful to have your attention to detail, including measurements of the width differences. Donut test was great!
หลายเดือนก่อน +1
I noticed that on the Mooncool that the tires were fully inflated, no compression. On the Lectric the tires were not inflated and were at about 1/2 inflated height. That would make turning much more difficult! Also the exta width with fully inflated tires will greatly increase stability in turns.
Maybe shocks on the front also. Just in case the balance is needed leveled. I was also thinking if it folds up, it needs to still roll in case someone can't pick it up. You would give so much freedom to not only older folks but people like me being disabled. I could help in building something like this SOOOO much. Plus I was an inspector at one of my jobs. Even helped a company decide what was going on with products whether to save or just rebuild product😊
I have the mooncool bike now and it is very nice. How ever having said that I am having a problem with the rear brake lever hanging up and shutting down the motor. I haven’t been able to correct the problem,so I am stuck using the front brake only if I want the assist to work properly. I contacted the mooncool help site and was told to contact the vendor, so no help at all.😢
We'll that's a negative! Who would be the "vendor"??? Had a Lectric XP, 1st release last year that they had to take back because of all the damage/problems others also had. Have to say, Lectric's customer service is ROCK ON! That's what worry's me about these E-bike Chinese companies, poor customer service, they don't get it.....
Besides the obvious, there was something about the MoonCool that was nagging me that I've seen before and not on the Lectric. Today, when I took my Lectric XP 3.0 for a ride, I found it. The step through brace appears as the same. Fortunately, Lectric did not do that to the Trike. The extra foot space for mounting and dismounting favors the Lectric. The lack of parking brakes is important. Even the slight drainage slope in my garage will have my two trikes heading outside unless I use the parking brake. When I walk my dog with it and have to get off to pick up after her, I tie her to the trike. Without the parking brake, that wouldn't end well. MoonCool has the horn. That's a plus. The so-called directionals are useless, just are any other ones that I've seen on an ebike. Either have size and separation and a pair for both the front and rear of don't have them at all. The real thing lacking in the comparison are a meaningful discussion of the rear ends. I am going to assume the axle size and bearing size are the 6003-2RS 20mm and an unacceptably large percentage of them will fail on the MoonCool as they have and continue to fail on the Lectric. So that leaves the buying decision down to customer service. We know Lectric is replacing the entire Trike. What will MoonCool do? What will either do for people with the failure out of warranty? Tough luck? So, I believe an objective checklist of both features and predictions will favor the Lectric over the MoonCool, until MoonCool has a track record to support their company and products.
That's it for me , I wasn't aware of the axle and bearing issues on these😢 I thought it would be cute and real fun to own a Trike . I may still get one that's Not electric , I wouldn't want to stress that rear axle and bearings. Maybe some other company will build a heavy duty Etrike then I'll be interested again. I have seen some fat tire ones but total weight capacity is around 300 so I'm guessing they're for light duty😢
Only some people have had problems with the axle. There are many etrike brands and models out there. Look at Mooncool, Addmotor, SixthreeZero, to name a few. @@TheBikemaster94
I like the MoonCool and its extra features including the color options. It has everything going for it except support and history. I really looks like they took apart the XP developed by Lectric then built in improvements. Now the ball is in Lectric's hands to upgrade its version 2 trike. I have a Lectric Trike ordered for Christmas. Lectric is one of the online vendors that jumped thru hoops to qualify fheir ebikes for my state's rebate and tax credit program. I could not pass up an $800-$1400 rebate. I liked the Rad trike and accessories but it was not one of the bikes Rad had approved for the rebate. So Lectric it is. I'm looking forward to running errands and using the etrike as an alternate to my car since most of my errand running is within 3 miles of my house. Thanks for the comparison video. I hope Lectric sees it and the next time I'm in the market for a trike there will be even more options.
City and County of Denver, Colorado Amounts varied from $500 -$1400 Depending on type of E-bike. 2 wheels, 3-wheels, Adaptive and Cargo (capable of carrying 100 pounds beyond the rider.
@@dedwin8930 Many states offer the rebates. Federal funding from the infrastructure grant in an attempt to reduce number of cars on the road, carbon emissions and do research on what works. My cousin in Atlanta, GA applied for a rebate. Their program started June 16, 2024. Contact your city or state's energy or governor's office. Similar programs are all over the US
That was a lot of good information I appreciate all of it I have a friend in Phoenix Arizona that sells electric but now looking at this video I’m kind of steering towards the moon cool thank you.
@@EbikeReviews I am in my 70's, and to take out the battery to charge it, I would have to lift the seat 1st. How difficult it the seat to lift. I am in a condo, with no electric plugs outside. I have seen some e Trikes, that have the battery on the frame, under the handlebars. Would that be easier for me?
Warning lights in front. Plus bright headlights as do motorcycles for on coming traffic. Yet the look of the bike should look Cool❣️ I used to drive a moped when I was a young kiddo. As I was growing and as an adult I drove motorcycles. 😊😁
I've owned the Lectric trike for two years. my biggest complaint is it does not have a reverse. I know for the able-bodied rider, it's not a problem to get off the trike to get out of a tight spot. i use it as my adaptive equipment, and therefore need a reverse...or I have to ride with someone who can push me. yicks! i love independence and this trike fills the bill except for the reverse issue. i hope they figure that out.
It sounds to me like you talk that moon cool up a lot more than you do the lectric trike. I have lectric trike, and I never had any problems with the brakes or nothing not
Well hope your luck lasts. Lots of issues with many, not all, Lectric trikes. I went through 2 returns they wanted them back due to issues. Richard is an upfront guy doing a great job. Again, hope your luck lasts. IMHO the best thing about the Lectric trikes is their customer service, not the trike... Johnny-c
He clearly stated not EVERYONE has had that issue. And he also clearly stated he liked the Mooncool slightly more for his own reasons. Doesn’t mean he works for them. That’s his OPINION. Some of us appreciate his honest, unbiased reviews
Excellent comparison, thank you so much! I sell Lectric Trikes here in Portland, it's a very solid trike with the best customer service in the industry, don't know much about Mooncool, like the suspension fork and more narrow track.
I am 4'10" tall. I found on the Lectric website that the e-trike will work with a person my height, but I couldn't find the information on the Mooncool. From your experience with the two trikes, would you say that since the Lectric XP could be height adjusted to fit me, that the Mooncool would also? I appreciate how thorough you were about the performance and physical differences. There are features I like about both, and I'm still undecided. But if Mooncool would not work with my height, then I have my decision made for me already.
Super detailed video and definitely like the mooncool tri bike especially when it easily went over your driveway culvert in PAS 1 . Question because this is the deciding factor. When completely folded for transport with the hand bars down what is the height. My Tacoma has a camper topper so it has to clear underneath it in order to transport the tri bike to the riding location. Thanks in advance. Beautiful review because these were the exacted same tri bikes I was considering buying.
I live in a hilly area,I kinda agree with you about your liking the moon cool a little better, but what would I do to park for what ever reason.I also like the front forks on the moon cool....thanks for a geeat comparison...dave
if you want to get a seat with the backrest for the mooncool is it easy to swap out? also you did an excellent job explaining both bikes. How long does it take for charging them from dead to full? If you done ones with the "fold up" option what size do they go down to? I live in a small apartment and not a lot of space.
On the seat for the TK1 the mounting hardware has to be used from the factory seat. The backrest is adjustable top to bottom but not forward or backward, the seat is more comfortable for me. I don’t use the backrest ,it pushes me forward. You cannot delete the backrest frame.Battery charges overnight.
Thanks for a great, unbiased video! I just bought a Lectric xp and I was worried about the shipping issues others have reported but my trike arrived in great shape. I don’t like the Mooncool trike as much, but my choice was based entirely on looks since I didn’t have the opportunity to try either. 🙄
Your video was really good. I have the Lectric trike and having some issues with it (I think the bearing has come out on right real wheel). I’m looking for a trike w/ some suspension, so your video was interesting to me. Do you by chance have any other comparisons to the mooncool that have shocks as well? Thank you
Thanks for the video, very helpful I'm an older but active man and very interested in an electric trike for shopping and for fun and exercise. When we move to South Carolina. I was hoping you could do a video on how they might perform on beach or sandy conditions because I'm hoping to be able to put my fishing equipment on it and go. I can't drive any longer. I have a peddle trike right now that I ride every day but it's just for bike pathes.
Thank you for your review. I have balance issues and need a tricycle. Your review was most helpful. I do wish you also included regular trike bikes, not electric.
Thank you for this review! I was sold on the Lectric as soon as you showed the level 1 being regulated, because I'm an old lady who has had both types of stroke, so I like the thought of not having a vehicle take off on me. Having a serious drop foot, the thought of not having to lift it over that extra bar is appealing, too.
I think the brakes an the Lectric is Five Star. We have the Lectric and like it. But the Moon Cool is cool. I have heard that Lectric has a discount for veterans, and you have to ask.
Nice review but most importantly, you barely mentioned the problems with the rear axle . There is a definitive clicking noise with both bikes especially when doing turns. I am currently going through issues with my wifes trike trying to get this repaired. The manufacturer has told me that they have had some axle issues and my guess is that the rear axle is defective. Additionally, there is a current backlog on orders for the Mooncool with the company stating that they will not be shipping trikes until late April.
I have a few trikes and a couple have a little "tic" noise from time to time. Not sure what it is. Mooncool told me yesterday they expect to ship again 1 April.
Well I watched your review and because of that I bought the mooncool trike. I regret it. They sent me junk. I tried to put the front tire on but it had plastic stuffed into the brake. After I got the tire on I found out that the brake cable was kinked. So I have a front wheel that is locked up. I had to straighten the fender which is one of the complaints about the Lectric trike. I managed to straighten that out. I've tried to get a hold of support but no one's contacting me. I should have known when I seen your videos on their website. I should have went with my gut instinct and bought an Lectric trike. Their customer service answers the phone. On top of that they didn't send me the seat that I ordered and paid $56.99 for
I am 6'1" and can ride both the Lectric XP and the Mooncool TK1. Although a little small for me, it still works. Mooncool has a Fat 20, which is slightly bigger and I really enjoy that. I have several videos about it. You should check it out.
Excellent review. Do you know if Lectric has solved their bearing problem that you mentioned? Also, how do the two bikes compare as to overall riding comfort? What about riding range? Thank you!
How is he 500 watt motor as far as tork? After an epic fail on my new 2wheet Ebike I bought last month - I ended up damaging my back even worse than it was. I also found out that I have a balancing issue which I wasn't aware of. For now, its ONLY a trike so I am really interested in your opinion. At 500 watt - there enough tork for lite cargo and going uphill at a decent speed? I am your height and weight so I very interested in your rating. FYI - Rad Trike offers a 750 watt BUT has a much wider axle in the back - which doesn't work as far as in out of my door at my place. Thanks for your work and effort. Buying online is scary when you are spending approx $2K (total) without a test ride. Hopefully I will recover from my injury but I might have permanent back damage as my legs are still in numb state. I can't even look at my Boogie Cruiser Ebike. I want it gone & out of my sight for what it did to my back (lol).
It must be noted that when riding up or down any incline you you must approach straight up or down. Otherwise you are tilting it to one side, like a 4 wheeler going sideways on a hill. I like the button on the Lectric EP since many will not know about that (I didn't) and make it a bit harder to steal. Think I would have a steel cover plate made to cover the button. What is the best lock for securing the wheel to the bike when not riding? Why does your Mooncool have less tread then the Lectric? How long is the warrantee on each, and how pre-assembled are they?

So either mine or yours isn't going to sleep properly. hmmm.
I believe the manual says that the wake up is required after 48hrs.
Yes, someone else pointed that out, I must have a defect. It goes to sleep quickly. @@buckboard43

@@KU9L How much does each of them weigh?
Just order the xp trike. I had good customer service I called and order on phone. I like the fact that you have to power the trike on the battery. I see this as a safety feature I have grandchildren. They can push buttons on handle bars and nothing will happen. I also like that it has parking brake. I like that it starts out slower . I have'nt received it yet I hope everything is ok when I get it. I'm just going on your video. Thank you
Hi, well I hope it arrives safely for you. If not, just reach out to them right away. They have been fairly quick with getting broken parts replaced. I am sure you will like it a lot.
It has been three months already. Did you receive your bike and how did you like it? Thank you.
You don't HAVE to pedal to make the xp go... I got that answer straight from lectric themselves. You can use throttle only without using the pedals at all
❤@@EbikeReviews
Where did you order it from?
While you were comparing it would have been very simple to look at the differentials on both trikes. Lectric XP trike rear end assembly is made by Taikin in China and I would also bet that the Mooncool differential is marked the same way which would mean the bearings would be the same also. That is a major point when comparing.
Ah didn't know about made on China ug
Thank you for taking the time to review these bikes and inform us.
On the rear brake, Lectric has the caliper on the top with a guard on the bottom of the disk. Mooncool has the caliper on the bottom close to ground and no guard. This could be problem if you have to go over any type of bumps. Good review.
Yes, it looked more exposed to possible damage. But maybe it's easier to reach for maintenance without dealing with removing the basket?
Excellent point!
Great Review! Would be nice to get your feedback on how easy it is to fold, overall folded dimensions and how secure/stable it is after repeated use?
Thanks.
I think he saif itwas the lectric that dropped its wheel bearings out
@@solistic33 Yes, the lectric bike not the moonbike That's a huge deal.
Definitely the Mooncool TK1. Its more stable than the other trikes I have tested. Not just my opinion but a few others that have tested mine.
Describe the color pink please. To me, online pics look like a pale warm tone like flesh pink 🤢
I followed your reviews before my son bought my moonkool tk1 etrike by comparing it to other etrikes and it has the parking brakes. Love it.
I have the mooncool TK1 folding.
It does have parking brakes. I am having trouble getting cruise to work. If you could do a video engaging cruise function, that would be great. I love my mooncool so far. All of your comments about it are so true. My first trike and I love it. Thank you for your informative video.
Great video thank you. It looks like Mooncool has since added a parking brake to the TK1 so looks like they took the feedback well.
Both have pros and cons, but whitch one would you take on hiking or jeep trails ?
What about snow and ice ?
I’d like to add that I put a front suspension on my Lectric Lite, so I’m sure you could have on put on their trike as well. The name of the game, for these companies, is to make improvements each year. I bet Moon Cool puts a parking brake on their new version, too. It’s fun to see all the improvements. At the same time, they are trying to keep costs down. I’m impressed they both have hydraulic brakes!
Thanks for sharing. Yes Mooncool told me the next batch of trikes will have the parking brake.
I have a mooncool. I've fallen three times and the trike fell on me.
@@mkelly4617 oh ouch! Do you think I can buy it or not? I had my knee injured twice not from the bike. Just fell myself like accident fell. Let me know what do you think. Thank you
So you tube came to the rescue. I found a site that explained how to fix the problem and my new moon cool trike is now fully functional 👍🤠
My husband and I love our Lectric XP3.0 and Lectric XP lite e-bikes. I have a question about the Mooncool etrike brand - is it also foldable like the Lectric e-bikes? Thank you for sharing your video.
The TK1 is folding, the TK1 Fat tire is not. Hope that helps. There are discount codes in my videos for Mooncool.
Thank you, @EbikeReviews. Your answer was helpful.
This was the first time I watched your channel. I am thinking of buying a bike. Very good information. Thank you
You said if the bearings fall out the trike, "is pretty much finished." I appreciate that non-standardized parts could be difficult to source, and bike shops may not have much experience with this type of rear axle, but is it really right to say the trike is trash when a bearing failure occurs.
I guess i will wait for the one that has better gears for lasting etrike:
Where do you get information about Lectric having financial problems and about the factories? I would like to learn more.
Your video is very informative. I’ve been looking for an electric trike and trying to decide which one is best suited for me. Thanks for the help!
Nicely done comparison of XP Trike and Mookool TK1. Wonderful to have your attention to detail, including measurements of the width differences. Donut test was great!
I noticed that on the Mooncool that the tires were fully inflated, no compression. On the Lectric the tires were not inflated and were at about 1/2 inflated height. That would make turning much more difficult! Also the exta width with fully inflated tires will greatly increase stability in turns.
Sorry there’s a lot hilly roads all over around here
Thank you for helping me
Maybe shocks on the front also.
I contacted the mooncool help site and was told to contact the vendor, so no help at all.😢
I can see that’s an advantage for the Lectric. I had a few problems and they took care of me very quickly with parts.
@@finucanetube well I used my pay pal account to process the purchase. I don’t know how they would help.
Excellent observations. I was informed today that the next batch of TK1's coming from the factory will have a parking brake.

The Electrick will fold up to fit in your vehicle, will the Moon trike do that. Would like to have seen you do that.

Good review! I think the Lectric would be better for young and older seniors, but the Moon..would be better for younger seniors.
Thank you for this! The Lectric seems more like a cruiser versus the Mooncool is more for Transportation and getting things done

I'm still an XP fan! Factory gray is what it is!
Moon Cool’s upgraded wide seat does have a backrest
Thanks for your video. Did you compare both batteries? What is the range that each trike can go? I will appreciate your response. Thank you
Thanks for a great, unbiased video! I just bought a Lectric xp and I was worried about the shipping issues others have reported but my trike arrived in great shape. I was hoping you could do a video on how they might perform on beach or sandy conditions because I'm hoping to be able to put my fishing equipment on it and go. I can't drive any longer. I have a peddle trike right now that I ride every day but it's just for bike pathes.
I hit like when u mentioned. Details appreciated on the trike comparo.
I am glad my video helped you make a choice. Thanks for watching.
Metallic dark blue with warning lights on the back. The back wheels need very forgiving shocks for balancing.
I think the brakes an the Lectric is Five Star. We have the Lectric and like it. But the Moon Cool is cool. I have heard that Lectric has a discount for veterans, and you have to ask.
Do you need a key to operate these bikes?? What is the weight??? THanks!! Great video
Hi,
Just to let you know that now the mooncool has locking parking brakes for the tk1 trike.
Great review but wish you could show how Mooncool folds
You should review the Mooncool MC 350 , That has the 7 speed derailer . I would think it would be easier to keep up with the pedal assist.
Thanks for the suggestion. I now have the Mooncool TK1 Fat 20 which has a 7 speed and it works great! Full video coming soon.
On top of that they didn't send me the seat that I ordered and paid $56.99 for
The one thing I don't like about the Moon cool is the back brake caliper bring on the bottom of the roater!
Well after reading the reviews I am going with the Lectric. I'm older and don't need speed to get where I need to go.
I think you did a great job job on this🥰
Super informative and helpful comparison!
.Learned a lot of good info Which bike would be best for a tall person? Thanks
Thank you!
Excellent review. Certainly MoonCool is quite the buy and bike. Thank you.
Overall, a very good review!
Thank you for your honest review 👍
Try turning a very tight radius, turn if your trike accelerates very fast. I would think that over you would go.
Would like to see side by side fold of Lectric vs Mooncool
Sorry I didn't include that in the video.
How does the MoonCool handle going up steep hills? Thanks for a great video!
The TK1 is the most powerful of the Mooncool trikes. I Don't have big hills to test on, but I imagine it would do fine on most.
Due to the similarities with the rear rack and the front rack mount, I wonder if the XP canopy will work with the Mooncool.
Just took a look at the Mooncool on their website - it looks like they've added a parking break?
can you actually feel a difference between having a suspension fork and not?
