We didn't think to include that in some of our earlier videos, but once we started getting the comments asking, we coined it 'the million dollar question' and started to include it in most of the videos.
"He wasn't even payin' attention and knew I had made a mistake" - This is the guy you always want listening in the background of your videos. So much to learn from from people all around you it's crazy how much knowledge is in that shop! I know zilch but it was great to watch this repair. Look forward to the next one.
I here from C&C, Dirt Perfect, Northwest Hillbilly, Captain Kleenman, Farmcraft101... Maybe missing someone. Thanks for educating us. Youve got my business when the time comes.
Greatly appreciate you guys letting us watch this rebuild. Not many shops would allow this and this is absolute GOLD material to see for those of us that are not in this line of work. Amazed at the knowledge presented here in getting this done. THANK YOU!
We had a customer stop in the front counter during filming and thought we were doing a diesel tutorial - said the same thing about the pump, and the oil cooler resembled mini charge air cooler!
For someone who says he doesn't know anything about what he's talking about, you are very good at briefly explaining it to someone like me who knows absolutely nothing about what you are talking about and making it seem like I know what you are talking about. And you know what, I learned a lot in the last 49 minutes. Every one of you in that shop are men I admire. Mallorie? Mallory? You are a hero!
I will never see one of these in real life but I greatly enjoyed watching your professionalism and craftsmanship on the rebuild. Well done. It's nice to know that we still have experts on so many levels in this country.
To all the team at Area Diesel Service (Jakeb,Josh,Dusty,Mallory & Curtis) , this type of spectacular , expert , quality work needs to be reestablished across the USA! Thank guys for taking us along. And keep up the great work! Looking forward to the turbo work! 👍❤️👍
Those Deutz air cooled diesels are amazing. Many years ago a friend of mine was the head mechanic for a SUNBEAM BREAD bakery that had a large fleet of box trucks. They started converting over from gasoline powered to Deutz Diesel. By accident one of the drivers accidentally filled the truck with gasoline, My friend called his Deutz rep who told him, "it'll be fine, dump a couple quarts of oil in the tank and drive it gently otherwise you'll smoke the tires right off the truck". Turns out that engine design was meant to be run on various fuels in emergency situations. Can't begin to tell you how many miles some of them had on them when the auction for Sunbeam Bakery Liquidation took place but I know my friend Loren mentioned some of them had close to 1 million miles and had been moved from truck to truck as the chassis wore out.
WOW! What a fantastic job the boys at ADS did on all those components of Jon's excavator! Many thanks to Jacob, Josh, Dusty, Mallory and Curtis for an outstanding job!
Kinda neat that you also discussed the cost. Almost nobody does that on TH-cam. Many people need that information to decide what their next move is, and you sir have helped them. Good job.
With each of your videos I am reminded of what my Dad told me as a teenager, "Don't even think about working on an Ijection Pump without the proper Knowledge and Tools. There is a reason we call the people that service these things Experts and Specialists." He was working a GM 350 Diesel at the time. Warning Labels all around the Engine Bay and Air Filter Housing stating DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID yet he seemed to have a Fuel Delivery problem so "Why not, always worked for Semi and Farm Tractor engines." I watched that one drop of Ether fall from the almost empty spray can in slow motion, then heard that sickening CLUNK as the Starter no longer rotated the Engine. Locked Engine up so badly that the housing of the Starter broke! That day I learned what "take it to the Experts" means...as well as a few colorful words! Dad passed in 2006 and I surely do miss him. He would have loved watching many of the TH-cam Channels I follow because of common Interests. Thank You Area Diesel Service , for the Memories that were brought back! Awesome Job of showing us what goes on behind the EMPLOYEES ONLY doors!
Area Diesel Service is an example of what is possible when you bring together professional craftsmen under one roof (or actually 3 roofs I suppose. 😉), and provide them the tools and equipment to do amazing things. Thanks for the video, Curt. You're a excellent narrator and the ADS crafters are fantastic. I love the collaborative effort of all the specialists and professionals at ADS who made this video possible. It's wonderful! You know, my favorite ADS videos tend to be the collaborations with the channels I follow (e.g., C&C Equipment, Diesel Creek, FarmCraft101, and Watch Wes Work). It adds a story to the wonderful in-depth professionalism you all have, whether it's turbos, injector pumps, or injectors (that's what my guys tend to send to you). These types of ADS videos are like a behind-the-scenes look into what it took to refurbish the items they are pulling out of the shipping boxes (I have to get back to Jon's video after this one finishes). Those folks pull things off, wisely decide they need a specialist (a.k.a. nerd 🙂), and they get back beautiful and tuned items from ADS. Well done. Well done with those injectors, Josh. Thanks for watching over Curt as he gave us the injector demonstration. 😉 Great credit to Dusty in the machine shop for re-creating the broken ear on that supply pump. Beautiful. Great job reassembling all those pieces into the injector pump, Jakeb. That thing is like a miniature engine! Gary, I appreciate your insight on the thrust bearing shimming. You're a true master with 45+ years of experience. Working in software, I know there's little to no glory in testing, but it's vitally important for tuning and finding issues. Great job testing and calibrating this injector pump. Thanks for all the camera work, Mallory. It came out well. Thanks for including the goodies bag, Curt. I'm sure Jon will find a use for those widgets. I'm looking forward to the rebuild of the turbo for Large Marge. She's going to run like a newborn when Jon and ADS are done with her.
I also came here from farmcraft101. I watch all Johns videos! Also enjoyed watching the rebuild. Thanks to everyone at Area Diesel for a very detailed rebuild video!
To all you folks at Area Diesel, Jakeb,Josh,Dusty,Mallory & Curtis, what a fantastic presentation you've given us. It's no wonders that Jon speaks very highly of you and the quality of your work. Great video!
You make a great case for your business right at the end - the new OEM rad is still a significantly larger cost than taking a rebuild on a far more complicated part. Getting something back you know has been inspected and rebuilt through and through is often a better investment than plunking down your dollars on something new.
Everyone at ADS are complete professionals but to me the best was Dusty that was one heck of a weld and rebuild of the broken thing he was given, I bet he is kept well busy, love how you break it all down for us Curt, never been to Farm Craft must give him a watch, thanks guys for another possible channel to watch GO ADS.
Came here from Farmcraft101s channel, been around diesels since birth, been wrenching on em since I was a toddler, we own over a dozen pieces of diesel powered equipment here in central Florida, and you earned a customer! Many thanks to all the folks involved for putting together an amazing video!
It's amazing that you guys did all of that work & replaced all of those parts but the total cost is still lower than the cost of a new oil cooler by itself! Much appreciation for everything you did for Jon...thanks to Jakeb, Josh, Dusty, Mallory & Curtis...you guys are awesome :) Can't wait for the turbo charger rebuild video.
I like how you described the injection pump as a complicated contraption. To me the pumps are like tiny engines that pump fuel instead of air. Its fascinating how much they were able to accomplish back in the day without wires, computers, batteries, sensors, etc. People talk about progress but I'm not sure.. hahaha
Nice to see a quality rebuild job in a world that doesn't care much about quality anymore. I also saw the rebuild job on the turbo for Diesel Creek. Quality work from quality people and explaining the cost breakdown is the cherry on top.
Another wonderful video. I worked validation for Caterpillar in the C-7/9 high pressure common rail fuel system and we faced a multitude of growing pains with that system . I remember building , tear down , rebuilding , reengineering parts , and doing this process so many times I lost count. I know the processes you take to insure that the clapped out pumps and injectors you miraculously rebuild and bring back to life for a second life is no walk in the park. Keep up with the great work and keep these videos coming I wait to see your next project of rxeviviving another basket case project into a mechanical work of art. Thank you.
The fella tig welding that part did an amazing job. Looks like it was never broken. That was impressive. The whole pump looks brand dang new! Had to give this a watch before watching farmcrafts video…. That rebuild price isn’t to terrible, the price on that oil cooler though, 5 grand 😬. Ouch.
It is a particular joy to me to be able to watch trained, enthusiastic professionals do this kind of work. (Not a dig at John! Love his content because I can easily relate to it.) But I do think you've got something special here. Thanks for taking us along on this journey!
Came from farmcraft to watch this. Also saw one you did for diesel creek. Clearly work you need experts for and you guys have them. Thanks for sharing this work.
Wow, when you have staff with 45 years service, it shows it's a great place to work and you are all very knowledgeable. Great rebuild and recording and editing by all involved.
Big thank you to the techs and support staff at ADS, fantastic work for industry. Bosch diesel fuel systems are the backbone in the automotive and power supply sector in the middle-east. You guys are ALL awesome. I love watching Jon as well as several of your other customers from youtube from, Diesel Creek, C&C Equipment, Dirt Perfect, Scrappy Industries. Keep those guys in the Dirt so we have good videos to watch.
Thanks folks for keeping "Large Marge" going for another round. And Another fine mess you've cleaned up for another YOU TUBER! Well done folks, A.D.S. to the rescue... Again.
Thanks as always for you videos. we had a bosh pump for a deutz F12L714 rebuild direct with the bosh service and it cost us 3500€. My senior (he was over 70) did try to maintain that pump at first and your video just shows how naive i was to think that he could do it at that time.
Always interesting ,your expertise in this area is just brilliant and I am so happy these u tube diesel guys have found you and are utilizing your services , It is a pleasure watching people who know what their doing the calibration in the pump is critical and who would have thought about the cam thrust and how the drive gear can effect the pump timing ,Really interesting stuff .I just really enjoy watching the expertise of the people you have working in the shop as they do their thing ,and the paint job was the icing on the cake ,Bravo.
Came here from farmcraft101 and amazed by the quality of your overhaul and technicians knowledge. Watching from Australia so your channel goes wide and far via your networking with various channels so thanks for looking after them all
If you are referring to Gary, he's starred in a few of the earlier videos, if you search Gary on our channel you can find some stuff! We do have a few other injector videos that show the full process - unfortunately schedules didn't mesh for this one to cover it all, but we'll try to include it next time! Thanks for the comment.
I know very little about engines (other than the basics), especially diesel engines, but this video was immensely interesting and entertaining. Glad you partnered with John at FarmCraft! He hs spoken very highly of Area Diesel Service on a number of occasions!
Ido like to watch your vidios as I seam to always find something that is very interesting to watch I first found out about your channel from diesel creek you do make some good vidios and a big thankyou to the whole ADS team the back of the shop dose not always get the thank yous that thay need.
Hope I can afford to have my old injection pump rebuilt this winter. This economy is crazy. I really enjoy Farmcraft and all the other Youtubrers Great work Guys. Liked and shared, best I can do right now. All my best.
I can't believe how reasonable your costs for the complete overhaul and rebuild of the injectors and the injection pump were. That was some really high quality work! Looking forward to seeing the work on the turbo. I too came here from farmcraft101.
Came from farmcraft101, an holy heck did this video deliver! That thing is a mini V6 combined with a high-end Swiss clock. Quite a few 10000 hour chunks of expertise visible in the timelapses. Awesome work and video!
Came to you from Farmcraft101… Wow!! Very interesting and informative. Large Marge gets a total heart rebuild!!! Thanks for sharing and showing what it takes to do this.
Prior to this video, my only knowledge of "Area Diesel Service" was that it must be some magical place where farmercrafters send parts and they came back fixed. But now I got to see how the magic happens, and even more amazing - it's not 100% magic, but mostly science and experience. VERY kewl to see what was previously "behind the scenes" from my favorite farmer genius. Also, holy COW is Mallory tight with those mid-sentence edits! Removing all the "uhs" and pauses to make a 90-minute video into 49 minutes takes a LONG time, and we the viewers really appreciate it!
0:53... looks like Marge Shott !!! ( remember her ?...😃... It's always great to see Mr. Curt narrating and filling in the details !!!..... 48:40...Even though I'm not paying for it , I find the effort ,repair ,etc ..is quite reasonable !! , Thanks !!!...
Great production values! Camera angles and lighting were optimal. On point running commentary. ( A bit monotonic, LOL) Excellent job guys. Enjoyable to watch and intensely informative.
Thanks for explaining the cost - I hate when channels don't be upfront on cost. A lot of money for what you did, but respect what expertise costs - you should be paid for that expertise, so it is great to understand what something will cost when evaluating cost when buying an old piece of equipment.
I come from farmcraft101, you are an excellent PR. You do your job and make known that there are several experts that have the know how and the skills. That's what a good PR does! My compliments to Area Diesel Service. You have the right mix of expertise.
Excellent video. People just do not realise that the tolerances used in diesel equipment is so fine, so fine as too not to need oil seals and-work whilst lubricating. Incredible!!
Jon at FarmCraft101 is one of my I-wannabe TH-cam favorites. I wish I had a fraction of his ability. You guys do absolutely amazing work, and it is fun to watch how the pros do it. I have a Chevy Silverado 3500 with the Duramax. It is running great, but if and when it needs something, I will be calling for the RMA!!
John make great video's. Always waiting for the next one; and what he's up to! 👍 It was surprising how much work went into this to get it back to working condition! I've heard nothing but positive feedback for you guy's!
Came here from Farmcraft101 and just want to say I love the attention to detail and explaining the whole process of the rebuild. Great job Area Diesel & The experts and others who do such great work at fair prices!
Big thank you to Curt and all the folks at ADS for fixing me up! You guys do awesome work!
Looking at the crud and corrosion on the nozzles, are there problems (corrosion damage) in the head where the nozzles attach?

Ido like to watch your vidios as I seam to always find something that is very interesting to watch I first found out about your channel from diesel creek you do make some good vidios and a big thankyou to the whole ADS team the back of the shop dose not always get the thank yous that thay need.
Hope I can afford to have my old injection pump rebuilt this winter. This economy is crazy. I really enjoy Farmcraft and all the other Youtubrers Great work Guys. Liked and shared, best I can do right now. All my best.
Wow!!! I mean Wow!!! That was Quality all around. Makes me want to go buy a clapped out injection pump just to send it in for rebuild. Nice.
When you do, we'll have an RMA for ya!
I can't believe how reasonable your costs for the complete overhaul and rebuild of the injectors and the injection pump were. That was some really high quality work! Looking forward to seeing the work on the turbo. I too came here from farmcraft101.
I absolutely love the collaboration and the rebuild of the parts thanks for sharing your knowledge is priceless
Came from farmcraft101, an holy heck did this video deliver! That thing is a mini V6 combined with a high-end Swiss clock.
Quite a few 10000 hour chunks of expertise visible in the timelapses. Awesome work and video!
Very nice to see the process ! A diesel injection pump is a engineering marvel.
The amount of parts that make up the pumps is astonishing!
Nice TIG welding fix. Beautiful pump. Great work by Jacob.
Thanks 👍for watching!
Super nice job. So fun to jump between farm craft and ads. To see the different parts of the restoration.
Thank you for following along!
Came to you from Farmcraft101… Wow!! Very interesting and informative. Large Marge gets a total heart rebuild!!! Thanks for sharing and showing what it takes to do this.
Thanks for coming
I'm a newbie to this channel. I very much enjoyed watching and learning!
Mallory is the best!
0:53... looks like Marge Shott !!! ( remember her ?...😃... It's always great to see Mr. Curt narrating and filling in the details !!!..... 48:40...Even though I'm not paying for it , I find the effort ,repair ,etc ..is quite reasonable !! , Thanks !!!...
That wasn’t Marge Shott but I remember her. She was the owner of the NL, Cincinnati Reds baseball team with her dogs !!!!
I found you guys through Farmcraft 101 and Diesel creek. You are true professionals and produce a quality product.
Great production values! Camera angles and lighting were optimal. On point running commentary. ( A bit monotonic, LOL)
Excellent job guys. Enjoyable to watch and intensely informative.
Great character. I sure hope you got a few rookies on the bench learning the ropes for when your expert decides to buy his dream retirement boat .😊
Thanks for explaining the cost - I hate when channels don't be upfront on cost. A lot of money for what you did, but respect what expertise costs - you should be paid for that expertise, so it is great to understand what something will cost when evaluating cost when buying an old piece of equipment.
I love watching folks that know what they are doing doing stuff. No way to shortcut 45 years of experience.
Wow those injectors had WAY more atomization after the rebuid. Amazing to actually see the difference on camera.
Thanks Jacob Josh and Mallory! And of course the movie star Curtis 🙂
I come from farmcraft101, you are an excellent PR. You do your job and make known that there are several experts that have the know how and the skills. That's what a good PR does! My compliments to Area Diesel Service. You have the right mix of expertise.
Wow, thank you!
Coming from Jon's Channel and a fan of Air cooled Deutz Engine since about 40 years. Great work!!!
Thanks for coming
Excellent video. People just do not realise that the tolerances used in diesel equipment is so fine, so fine as too not to need oil seals and-work whilst lubricating. Incredible!!
Thx Jacob and team. We r all smarter for watching. Pride in workmanship. Is great to see. Thx for a looky loo at the Goins on at your business.❤
Beautiful work, thank you for showing how these come apart and go back together! (Also came here from FarmCraft101).
FarmCraft101 and Diesel Creek bring me here on the regular. You guys do amazing work!
I really enjoy these high pressure pump overhaul for my favorite TH-cam creators like this one. Thank you for all you do with these collaborations.
This may seem boring to some but to watch master craftsmen do their thing is a sight to behold. Much love!
John sent me. You guys do a great job. Quality work there.
Thanks for coming
Thanks for helping John with Large Marge's injection pump issues!
You bet!
That's alot of work to get that running as new but now it will never have to be done again. Thanks for sharing the process.
Very professional job by ADS. You should be proud of all your work!
Thank you for the compliment!
Nice work Jakob. Thank you for interesting content on Johns old junk.
We appreciate the watch and comment!
Thanks Jacob, Josh and Mallory!
Came here from Farmcraft101 and just want to say I love the attention to detail and explaining the whole process of the rebuild. Great job Area Diesel & The experts and others who do such great work at fair prices!
A big thanks to the hole crew I would have loved to see the full rebuild I know that would have been too long 👍👌
