- FRUGAL LIVING video is here! The cost of living and the price of food has increased so much that many people use a food bank or food pantry to make ends meet. The food pantry is a great resource to obtain food and household supplies. There is no need to go hungry when there are great resources out there for everyone to use, if you qualify. I encourage you to apply to your local food pantry or food bank if you need help with groceries. It's also a great place to meet new people in the community. If you do not qualify for the food pantry or the food bank then please check out your local churches as that could be another option to get help.

Food Haul & Food Pantry Hauls Are Such A Blessing To Be Able To Have
There is no shame in going to a Food Pantry, a Food Bank or a local church for help with groceries. The cost of food and the cost of living is high. If you have low-income, lower income or no income then the food pantry may be a great option for you! Inflation prices are rapidly increasing, so more people are using their community resources and programs than ever before. Using your local community resources to help offset the cost of food can help you stretch your paycheck or retirement funds further. Keep in mind that sometimes the food has gone bad. There are times I have received items from the food pantry that were spoiled. Sometimes the food is very out of date and not suitable. Please check the best by dates! If you receive spoiled items, then I'm sure it was an accident. Food banks and food pantries move a lot of inventory and there are times when the food has turned.
Frugal Living - Food Haul
I live a Frugal Lifestyle. I shop sales and squirrel away supplies for winter. I am mindful to stock up on everyday items to save money in the long run so I can pay for daily living expenses like electricity. Every purchase I make is a financial investment in my future. It could be a bottle of water or a can of beans. Part of my frugal living lifestyle is using my local food pantry and shopping at thrift stores. Each organization has their own rules and if you qualify, you become a consumer to their program so please follow their rules to maintain a good relationship with your food pantry or food bank. I still have bills like everyone else and I budget according to my finances. Although I am considered financially poor or low-income, I do not feel poor. I eat well.

HOW TO GET FOOD BANK HELP?
Contact your local churches or you can ask the county. There is nothing wrong for wondering how to get food bank help. Each county has a social services department that can direct you to food pantry resources in your area.
WHAT FOOD DO YOU GET FROM A FOOD BANK?
All types! I get all types of food from the food bank from unknown brands to name brands. Each shopping trip is different. I also get a lot of seasonal vegetables to cook with. Some food pantries offer staple items like beans and lentils, other food banks may even offer organic food.
FOOD PANTRY NEAR ME TO DROP OFF FOOD?
The best way to find a location near you is to contact your local churches, google search it or contact social services.
HOW TO QUALIFY FOR FOOD BANK?
They go by how much money you make in most cases.
FOOD PANTRY MEALS ARE SUCH A BLESSING!

Also, in the past I've seen you mention getting half loaves of bread vs full as they go bad too quickly. If you have extra freezer space, we always freeze our pre-sliced bread as we are the same way. Just pop a frozen one in an airfryer or toaster and tastes good as new!
Thank you so much! Freezing bread is a good idea! My mini-fridge has a 1 cubic foot freezer and I need to clean it out to make room! I might get a chest freezer one day or upgrade to an "apartment" sized fridge to get the larger freezer. Love heating bread in Air Fryer, too!
You don't give up. It's always good to watch someone why tries to find peace and happiness instead of dark clouds. Good finds and good food.
Thank you so much! My little home is a "restart" in my life. I would like to have fully renovated it before moving in. I was not able to, so over time, I've done what I can, when I can. @@cowdogconnoisseur2809 Picking one's self up many times creates resilience. I don't think I ever sought out resiliency, but that's how my life was. Moving during 2020, into a trailer, never having lived in one before, was a big step for me. I love my little home!

Oh I'm so happy about the little gray cabinet, too! My trailer has light gray walls all throughout and I think it will fit well here. This is just a suggestion when you bring an item from the dump get rid of a dump item you already have. So you don't get too cluttered

I agree. When do you paint? I have to be careful that one piece of a hobby forces/entices me to spend more $$ to get the of stuff to do a project.
@kathleenlangstaff5039 Art supplies can be quite expensive as I recall the price of pastels in the 90's. Would faint to see what they cost in today's world of high pricing. I did not develop into a skilled painter. I was more interested in drawing. However, that transitioned into doing 3D works! Mostly I've enjoyed object-making instead of flat work. But priorities and interests can change throughout a lifetime.

Another great food bank haul! America is blessed for people who are in need have food pantry to help them out! A lot of other countries don’t have this option! Those cucumbers look like pickle cucumbers! We love those!

I love how your food pantry lets you choose what you want/need. I bet it prevents a lot of waste and has happier "customers" who can actually plan their meals around what they like (or know how to prepare). I know of one food pantry, that (unfortunately) makes a lot of the decisions for people (it doesn't seem very fair, or even make a lot of sense to me).
That easel was a great find. I thought I saw you had a sketchbook, so I'm assuming you have a creative side. I'm certain you'll put it to great use.

That's such a good point about food pantries! Many have boxes and bags prepared for clients. I am very lucky to visit a food pantry that lets me shop and pick out what I'd like. They set it up like a little grocery store! The gray cabinet will be fun to figure out how to use it and where to put it. It reminds me of a "little library" if you've seen those. Very cute cabinet! The easel was a big surprise to me, because of all the things I look at whether at the dump or at the thrift store, an easel like that is hard to find. I like how compact it is and portable. I would love to go to the river in the Fall and sketch. I'm totally out of practice so will go through a lot of paper, ha! I hope you have a wonderful night and see you on Friday!
@@CareFreeLivingChannel You're right, the gray cabinet does share a little resemblance to the "little libraries". There are actually two of them not far from where I live (probably why I was attracted to it). I could just imagine sketching by a river. I would absolutely love to do that and it sounds so relaxing... and I'm sure I'd go through A LOT of paper as well LOL!

About the reduced prices on snacks. Does it have to be paid for? If so, folks better off buying a cake mix and frosting for the fraction of the cost.
Great Question! Some items at the food pantry have grocery store price tags, but they're free. They just keep the tags on there.

I volunteer at a food pantry. The food pricing is from the donating store. Food pantry food is free.

Lean ground beef is currently $20.48/kg here. When my children were young and we were still in college, I could almost always buy ground beef or chicken on sale for 69 cents a pound. Of course, that was about 40 years ago.

@CareFreeLivingChannel The regular price was usually around 99 cents a pound. There were times when I couldn't find a sale on ground beef and had to resort to lamb. New Zealand was flooding the country with inexpensive lamb for a few years, hoping to establish a foothold in the market. I don't think it went to plan. To this day, lamb just tastes like poverty to me. It's only recently began to lose its reputation as peasant food.

The little cabinet is a medicine cabinet that you hang on your wall in the bathroom, above the sink. It looked like the shelves were missing though. Lord, you already have wall to wall furniture in your entire home, where will you put this stuff? lmao

@@CareFreeLivingChannelwhen I'm in the mood, I eat blueberry or cranberry goat cheese as ice cream. I'm not a big fan of goat milk or cheese, but I buy goat milk when I get a cold, and fruity goat cheese a couple of times a year. As someone said: "it just speaks to me."

I watch your hauls all the time. You are so lucky to be able to get Wegmans products. I think they are so good. That is my main place to shop. I compare prices online before going shipping and their prices and quality can't be beat.

Great Question! I applied to the food pantry by filling out an application. They go by income guidelines. Shoppers can either put an order in online or over the phone to pick up. Or, they can shop in-person.

My food pantry has limits on quantities based on family size. For example I can get 2 cans of meat if I want, for a 1-person household. Some categories of perishable items can change while shopping. Example - the sign might say 2 Desserts but it could go up depending on inventory, like if a food truck arrived while I was shopping then they increase the amount. They do a good job moving inventory because there is so much and if they don't get it to the shoppers, then they have to find other ways to rotate it out to make room for more inventory.
