She was good at playing Lucille Ball. Lucille Ball was tough as nails in real life and Nicole Kidman captures that quality in her performance. Nothing like Lucy Ricardo. The thing that they got wrong with Nicole Kidman was the hair when she's Lucille Ball. Lucy never wore her hair that long. I found it distracting. Of course, that's not Nicole Kidman's fault.
Anything Nicole Kidman touches she turns to gold.hopefully her next film she'll win an Oscar cuz she hasn't had one in quite some time she is quite a star beautiful wife and gorgeous mother.
It wasn’t meant to depict the comedy, it was meant to portray the stress and effort put into the show during a time when TV and film production was competitive and required wit and talent.
I actually liked it. She sounded just like Lucille. She didn't really resemble her. Cuz Lucille ball was such a beauty. It's just when I saw Nicole trying to look like her I didn't buy it. But she sure as hell sounded like her and she had her mannerisms down so well. She did a very good job. And I loved JK Simmons as Fred. And the lady who played Ethel and the actor who played Ricky Javier bardem.
She nailed the voice. The problem with her acting was she didn’t capture the joy Lucille showed on stage. Lucy had the most expressive, joyful (or angry) face in TV history. It was impossible to replicate with the prosthetics
The actor I liked the least was Javier Bardem - Ricky was very attractive and Javier is not - and seemed too old to be playing the part of Ricky who was about 35 when I Love Lucy began.
@@sydneecorbin2362 I think she sounds awesome as Lucille Ball but not quite while recreating the I Love Lucy scenes, which is what most are familiar with.
Desi’s voice is a little too deep but she sounds exactly like Lucille. Looks and sounds exactly like her. I wonder if they used some deep fake technique for the film.
It's kinda hard for suspension of disbelief when you have seen these actors in a lot of films. I closed my eyes because I knew I was gonna say the same thing. It's not bad at all. Especially Nicole. She nailed Lucille's voice I think
He has the mannerisms and the demeanor but his accent is too Spanish. I think the Caribbean Latino accent (PR, DR, Cuba) is almost impossible to imitate unless you're from that region.
I don't care if they don't have exact resemblances to the very well-known actors they are portraying. This was oscar-worthy. They both managed to capture the essences of the Lucy and Desi. At least their daughter thinks so!
I think the comments here are a bit harsh. You need to clear your mind of any predetermined notion, think of it as a fictional story in a timeline where hot topics displayed on live television was a battle and a struggle. Filling the shoes of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz are next to impossible. I’m interested in the story, not the comparison, not the total accuracy, but just simply being entertained. That trailer alone was very entertaining, and I’m glad somebody made an attempt at presenting the story with relative accuracy. Obviously both of them are no longer around to get their proper testimony, and we are talking well over 50 years ago, or you could always go see another marvel comic movie for chrissakes! Thank God somebody’s doing something different for a change.🙄
I think her performance as Lucy was fantastic but I think it was a miss on Desi. I feel like they could have found someone to somewhat look like him and sound like him. Desi is a handsome man and this guy is not even close.
He's handsome. Just a different type of handsome 😊. Desi was boyish, lighthearted handsome. Javier is ugh. I can't think of it. Lol, but yes, it feels like they are two physically different people. Javier is giving it his all, though.
I had the lowest of expectations going into this movie. I remember reading that Debra Messing was saying she should be in it. I have to say, Messing couldn’t pull off what Kidman pulled off in this film. It’s not just the broad comedy but the little nuances. This movie is great.
Now I know why there was so much promotion of this guy playing Ricky because he's the worst ,he doesn't sound like him he doesn't look like Desi, Arnaz didn't even have that much of an accent, this is terrible I don't even want to see this
Yeah, I’ll def give it a chance, and Javier is a good actor but I never would’ve known he was trying to play Desi Arnaz. He doesn’t sound or look like him at all, no charm, no flair
@@antoniosantorini9355 she did???? So odd. I agree with your words. It is strange casting. How old are Desi and Lucile supposed to be in this setting? Because, Javier and Nicole are a bit older than I expected them to be bc I don’t think they’re supposed to be quite that age yet, in the setting of the film, is that right? What did you think of Nicole? I’ll watch soon so I’m hoping for the best, expecting the worst haha
@@antoniosantorini9355 I looked at the dates. Lucille started the show when she was 40. ILL was only on 6 years, so yeah, I had a hunch. The actors for Being the Ricardos are a whole 10 ish years older than what they’re playing. I didn’t realize Desi was so much younger than Lucille!

What gets me is they put in all these details--and their wrong! The episode "Fred and Ethel Fight" was in season one. Lucy's "red scare," was in season 3. The apartment set is perfect...but wasn't used until the end of season 2! And the problem with casting someone to play Lucille Ball playing Lucy Ricardo is it comes across like they are doing an impression of Lucy. And Nicole Kidman isn't pulling off Lucy's subtleties well.
I have to admit I was wrong about Nicole Kidman’s performance in the role. Seeing this, I can tell that she gives a spot on performance.
She was good at playing Lucille Ball. Lucille Ball was tough as nails in real life and Nicole Kidman captures that quality in her performance. Nothing like Lucy Ricardo. It really was a fantastic picture. I highly recommend seeing it if you are an I love Lucy fan.
I'll check it out. Thanks.
Me too 👍
I watched, wasn't that impressed. I liked the 2003 made for tv Lucy movie the most out of all the Lucy movies they've done.
Anything Nicole Kidman touches she turns to gold.hopefully her next film she'll win an Oscar cuz she hasn't had one in quite some time she is quite a star beautiful wife and gorgeous mother.
Sorry its not believable especially with the neck and botox
Wa ex kk uwjwwq o pop d a we will we o
Yeah she’s given more than one Oscar perf for sure.
I feel like I’m the only one who just isn’t impressed by anything Kidman is in.
I actually just finished watching it. It's pretty good and Nicole kills. These clips don't really do it justice.
Lucy was brilliant. Thank her and Desilu for Star Trek. Yeah.....THAT Star Trek.
It said 60% liked this movie I'm 66
And Im a male and I almost didn't watch but nothing else was on
It's GREAT. WOW
Amazing she sounds like real Lucy! Incredible actress!
Nicole Kidman is not herself in this film. She totally nails Lucille Ball's voice and demeanor as does Javier Bardem as Desi Arnaz. Spot-on.
Javier’s voice is way too deep but he nails the natural charisma.
Wasn't a convincing performance. If she had ditched botox, then yes.
She somehow captures Lucy’s voice
Absolutely nothing like one of the most iconic comedies ever. Shameful.
I think it’s funny people didn’t know Lucille Ball’s life was dark and full of racists and sexists putting her and Mr Arnez down welcome to real life
Open your mind. Absolute fantastic portrayal
It wasn’t meant to depict the comedy, it was meant to portray the stress and effort put into the show during a time when TV and film production was competitive and required wit and talent.
You’re blind. Even Lucy‘s daughter and Son both said she inhabited the soul of their mother.
just now saw Nicole Kidman's Portrayal of Lucille Ball along with Javier Bardem, J.K. Simmons and Nina Arianda. Incredible.
Great actors

They both sound nothing like the characters.
That is how Lucille Ball really sounded…I’ve seen several interviews

I can’t see Ricky in him at all.
Ricky was a much better looking dude also
I said the exact same thing 😂 they couldn’t find some handsome young nobody actor or some??
Desi Arnaz era muy guapo

I actually watched this show .They said this show and Mary Tyler Moore show were like a pioneer show not only for woman but because of Desi Arnez Jr.
not harsh at all...this is how it happened back then, just as today it's all lying...back then it was the truth with some harshness needed...

They couldn't work with a dialect coach to get their voices right?! They're not even close. 😐
It’s a film not a home movie
She is no Lucy.
Completely miscast !
These biographical movies all the same thing. Just a vehicle to get a nomination.
Tried to watch it
But for me it was
Second rate.
wonder who owns Lucille's estate..and if they agreed to allow this to be produced...its trite .
She doesn't look or sounds exactly like Lucy, but it has her personality, and it looks great
I can give Lucy a pass but Desi is unwatchable, no charm and charisma like the real Desi had
They were both miscast!
Nicole Kidman did great
It only became comedy because if you didn't laugh you'd cry.
Awful just awful.. I’m surprised their kids ok’d this.
This looks horrendous

Nicole Kidman's "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood"...
Natasha Lyonne would make a great Lucy and Carlos Penvega a good Desi.
Good lord I’m glad I
missed that one.
You have spat on me
No thank you.
Oscar worthy? lol....
Nothing oscar worthy about this movie 🥱
Ancient history I know but I find it so much fun that now Nicole kisses Penelope's husband :)
Terrible as expected
Very disappointing doc
It wasn't a documentary. It was a dramatization.
What this nominated for? Worst movie? 🤡
Yes the backrooms are real, I live in them.
I would have to given alot of money to watch this. Should I tell you what I really think ?
When this movie is serious, it's great!
When it tries to be funny it's a piece of shit! 🤣
P.S. the Racist studio head was boiling my blood.
This movie was horrible, & Nichole's acting was brutal!😮
Nope

Lousy acting and historically inaccurate film.
