Since I have both the throttle body spacer and the intake installed, the clearance is very very close. It took me a couple of tries to get the fitment good enough to not have to worry about the fan.
The MAF sensor location is different on the 03-04 but might be possible if you replace it with a newer sensor since the AFE kit comes with the newer sensor location.
@@nkautos I have a 2004 GX too and wanted to use the aFE intake here. Will replacing MAF sensor part # 22204-75030 from 05-09 models in place of original part # 22204-75020 work as a direct swap? 5-pin connector looks the same. Or will wire splicing be required? Thanks.
Henry Ranola I have definitely noticed an increase in response and definitely sound. The MPG has stayed about the same with no real fluctuation. I do have the throttle body spacer paired with the intake but I definitely think it will be louder than the OEM one.
I took a look through my scanner and it hasn't increased the fuel trim enough to be lean. I believe that ECU calculated for the extra air and just fixed for it.
Quick question, I just bought this and it was mailed to my house. How is this intake working out for you? How is the truck performing? How many miles have you driven?
I’ve driven with the intake on for about 9k miles and haven’t had any problems. I definitely love the intake noises and the increase in throttle response. I have noticed that there is a slight gain in mpg on the highway. Overall it has held up to my expectations!
@@nkautos awesome! I invested on the AFE exhaust/muffler system too. I replaced the catalytic converters which the gaskets, bolts and the converters cost me $2700. Labor costed about another $1650 for installation. So a little over $4k was only that and the AFE exhaust was $650, and the intake cost me about another $400. Like I invested a lot on the truck and replaced all engine components and soon will do a complete flush out on all fluids to have it ready for the winter. Wish me luck. 👌🏼 #LexusMafia#GX#🔥
@@yammiihabibi9391 Sounds like your Gx is getting treated very well. Definitely will last you well over 200k. Keep up the maintenance and you’ll have a reliable and durable truck!
I have noticed low end torque and midrange gain with this intake. Definitely way more than what I had with the OEM one. Definitely wouldn’t go back to my old setup.
@@user-su1xk3mv2b the resonator is replaced with a Borla muffler while the secondary muffler which is at the end of the vehicle is replaced with piping. It sounds good, but I plan on doing some more fine tuning in the future!
Ryan Fong it should work on the 03. Nothing changed on the intakes between the 03-09 models. Only difference might be the ECU and how it adapts to the increase in air intake.

Shawn Ballard Thank you for always showing your support! How’s your GX coming along?
yeah these are really good, just got a tbs to complement mine. also i run it without covers for more sound and overall better performance :]
Sounds great man . I Just subscribed 🤙🏽
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Just installed this on my 07 gx and I keep getting the Christmas tree:( did everything the same as you in the video any ideas ??
Not related to this topic but I noticed you swapped out the Stereo/HVAC controls. What brand did you use and do you have a link to it?
I used the Phoenix Automotive head unit I have a video about it on the channel!
Did you ever have any issues with the clearance with the fan? It’s not touching for me but seems a little close for comfort.
Since I have both the throttle body spacer and the intake installed, the clearance is very very close. It took me a couple of tries to get the fitment good enough to not have to worry about the fan.
I have a 2004 GX. I read on the AFE site it only fits 05-09. Do you know if it would fit my GX?

@@osvaldoenriquefloresgonzal3138 so whats the prognosis, I eneded up getting a different system, wish me luck
@@lakeminnetonkaoutdoors7532 I already installed them, just change the maf sensor, it is working fine
Hey after installation did u have to have an ECU tune
No need to tune the ECU, the car adjusts to the intake flow
Cool video broo still got the gx 470 ??
Yes I still have it and will be posting a video soon!
I'm looking into buying this intake as well. Have you noticed differences in sound/acceleration/mpg's?

Have you looked at ur fuel trims after you installed it? It made mine super lean it brought me down to 9mpg

@@nkautos damn i wonder whats goin on with mine.
Nice vid, have you thought about selling or giving away the cold air intake you replaced?
Spunkkat I save my OEM parts in case I ever want to sell my car or replace the pieces.

If you take your GX off road, I don't think the few extra HPs is worth the proven poor filtration a K&N style filter provides.

Do you have an exhaust or is this all intake noise?
