So I’m returning mine because I had issues where Bluetooth would grip out on me and the CarPlay was no connecting properly via wired, only wireless and I didn’t want to use it as wireless because there was a ton of lag. So I took it out and I’m probably shipping it out today. Maybe I got a bad unit or maybe my phone is bad but it’s a 12 Pro so idk. Sad because I liked the unit other than those but those were just deal breakers for me
Ah man sorry to hear about that. I haven’t experienced anything like that with this unit yet but will report back with any issues. It’s possible you need a firmware update, in which case you reach out to Joying support, they ask you a few questions, and send you an update file to load into the unit. Could be an alternative
I have ALLWINNER T8 MOBILITY LIMITED device on my DODGE CHARGER. Android vs 8.1.0, MCU version T5.3.19-23-84...., System version V9.3.1_20190102.....CarPlay. Could you please send me the appropriate link to update my system ? Thank you
Do you have any idea how to make the volume go above 36? I bought this unit because of your video and the only thing wrong is it’s super quiet
Hm I haven’t experienced that issue, but I know Joying customer service is pretty responsive. I’d reach out. They may have a firmware or other update for you to try
Any update? Thinking of going with this Head Unit but need a solid sounding system
@@domattaccount3213 So, I tested this and 36 on the volume just means 100% volume. It’s all dependent on the input level. This wouldn’t be an issue with the unit itself
@@domattaccount3213 btw, I absolutely love this unit.
Gotcha so it’s dependent on the input. Thanks for quick reply and posting the video, really helpful for first time Gx owner. Picked up an 08 Non Nav
On a 2004 GX 470 with no nav , any suggestions that you may have
Mine is also an 04 non-nav. Highly recommend this unit, but I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking?
Thank you for responding , it doesn't have the screen for navigation , but a radio ,all original of course@@lexus_offroad_adventures
Nail polish remover will get the crazy glue off
@@jeffevers7596 great tip
Does the non nav Pioneer system come with an amp under the seat?
I can check later but I don’t think so… do you have non nav?
This won't work with the oem NAV setup?
Correct, you’ll have to source non nav ac controls and do the conversion first
Do you have the new part number for this one? Thanks! Looks like you are pretty close to me!
Haha the blurs for that map section are delayed by TH-cam… oh well 🤷♂️ shoot sorry forgot to post the product link www.joyingauto.com/joying-latest-toyota-land-cruiser-prado-9-inch-android-8-1-0-car-stereo-with-built-in-dsp.html
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Thanks!
Hey nice video but 1 question do I need beat sonic interface?
Joying supplies the harness. Check the link in description and you can select your options. Important to note that you need non-nav air conditioning controls to have fan speed control etc.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures yes I have 2004 non navigation gx 470. Is the best sonic interface for the back up camera? I’m sorry I really don’t know anything or what to select on the option
@@marksopogi22forsure92 04 non nav select JBL/Pioneer amp for the harness then you can piece together your own backup camera system. Most aftermarket backup cams come with a head unit side RCA cable and that little red convenience wire, tap that convenience wire into the orange trigger wire coming out of the head unit harness labeled “BACK” and run the cable back to the tailgate, tap 12v power from the backup light positive and ground the black wire (all supplied with the aftermarket camera). I show you how to do all that in this video th-cam.com/video/q-XqtwhIlVI/w-d-xo.html
Here’s the backup cam kit I used www.amazon.com/dp/B07HNRYHZ6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Damn I need to do a non nav swap already smh
How is the sound quality from the unit? I'm looking at this unit and am worried the speaker sound quality will drop.
Sound quality is fantastic from what I can tell. It’s also more configurable with the EQ app
@@lexus_offroad_adventures good to hear! love the factory look, and the volume knob of course lol. Is the bass end pretty good still? or does it have shallow sound?
@@noahheninger863 it sounds great, only improvement you could make is by upgrading the factory speakers.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures also do you know if you have the 4gb or 8gb ram model?
@@noahheninger863 most likely the 4gb model. I can’t see 8gb of ram being needed
Any audio suggests for a gx 470 with a Nav unit?
My wife’s GX has nav and has Grom VLine 2. It’s ok but the factory screen is a big limitation. There’s also the Phoenix audio Tesla style screen but people also report some issues with those. Join GXOR on Facebook and browse through the search function. There’s been tons of discussion on this and is probably some great info
Thanks for confirming 👍. I also have the GROM in my 08 RX400h and is works but I would luv to swap the factory screen.
Do the steering wheel buttons work with this??
Yes, absolutely. You can even program them to do different stuff. For instance, my “Mode” button initiates my iPhone’s Siri function, the up arrow is seek to next track, and the down arrow is screen off.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures hey brother i just ordered this unit!! Have an install appointment set for 2 weeks from now, do you have any idea on how long these take to ship?
@@blazarep from what I remember it was like 2 weeks or something? Could be different now though so don’t take my word for it
@@lexus_offroad_adventures got it thank you!!
How is your microphone/calls?
All good
@@lexus_offroad_adventures sweet, got one arriving today
How many miles do you have on your GX now
167k!
What model gx is this? Year?
2004 GX470
How long did it take for your unit to come in ?
Couple weeks if I remember correctly
@@lexus_offroad_adventures thank you I ordered mine yesterday so I was hoping for a relatively fast turnaround
How much RAM did you go with? Sorry if I missed that in the video.
Just the 4 + 64
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Thanks, I've been on the fence about going with the 8gb vs the 4gb for fear of it not performing well. Looks like 4gb does just fine. Thanks for all the videos!
Would this take away my back up camera away?
This unit is for a non-nav equipped gx470
I see there is an option for the ML sound system and back up camera on the linked website. Do you know anyone who has installed it with both of those?
@@TheAdam9544 unfortunately you would lose the AC controls that are controlled in the screen if you installed this unit. The backup cam integration is an unknown to me but installing an aftermarket camera is pretty simple. But I wouldn’t recommend this unit because of that AC control issue I mentioned before. I’ll be reviewing a Phoenix automotive Tesla style screen later this year when the android 12 version comes out. Hopefully that will be a better option (my wife has a Nav GX and she isn’t super happy with the Grom VLine 2 apple CarPlay unit)
@@lexus_offroad_adventures thank you man for the long explanation! I appreciate it. I’ll be in the look out for that video!
After a year, what are your thoughts on it?
Between my 20 year old car and a brand new car, I feel like I’m lacking nothing.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Not the car, the head unit? is it quality or does it have issues?
@@TheAngryCamper that’s exactly what I’m saying: because of this head unit, and its functionality+ Apple CarPlay, etc. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on any 2023 technology by driving an old car.
@@TheAngryCamper i.e. it’s fantastic. I make calls via the screen, can answer texts with voice, can navigate really easily… no hardware or software issues at all
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Nice, I just picked up a 2003 gx470 so I am looking at upgrading IMMEDIATELY ha ha ha :)
Any idea what stops this from working with my 03' gx470?
Do you have nav or is it non-nav?
@@lexus_offroad_adventures I have non nav. Sorry, I thought I specified.
@@JaminHGrilla can’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t work but make sure you choose the Pioneer amp harness.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Cool. We'll, I guess we won't know till I try it. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the response. 👍🏾
@@JaminHGrilla I had the same question. Eager to hear your response.
Nice. But for about $250 more you can get the Phoenix Automotive 10" version is much nicer and full controls of the climate control. Have had over 2 years and great!
Great unit for Nav GX owners but no, I would definitely not prefer that unit for this GX. This is a non-nav GX with full physical button climate controls. Phoenix will be sending me their Android 12 unit when it is ready and I'll be putting that in my wife's GX, which has the Nav system. Can't wait to try it out!
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Actually that is not correct. Mine is also a non-nav GX. When you order it you specify and they give you a different harness. You take the daughter card off the back of the GX climate control device. Plug and play. Full climate control from their buttons and touch screen. Perfect. Cheers.
Oh wow, you're the only one I've seen give up the physical climate controls. Interesting to know how that works, cheers.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Maybe you were misreading I gave up nothing. I have full climate control they have their buttons that they include on the sides (physical buttons) and the touch screen full climate control 100%. Daughter card from the GX connects to the back of the Phoenix unit and 100% full controls cheers.
I meant the OEM physical climate controls lol
No physical AC control buttons? That's a deal breaker for me.
I have non nav ac controls so my oem ac control panel has all necessary buttons
great video love it
You spent so much time showing us your stupid air vent install and fast forward the install of the unit ?????????????
i think you got carried away and forgot it was a head unit install you were showing .....So bad of you to do that ..
I already covered that in a previous video and didn’t want to waste time being redundant. Next time you can ask me why I did something instead of saying “so bad if you to do that…” lol
