    I purchased a new unit similar to yours , but it has two knows left and right side. Unfortunately I can't turn the volume up without distortion. I emailed joying and they gave me a link to update firmware but I still can't turn up the volume without distortion. The screen is starting to cut off intermittently and becomes annoying. I'm going to try to get them to replace it. I'm not satisfied with the unit for 500 bucks, biggest complaint is the sound issue.

    I have a 2008 with Nav. (Yeah, I Know). Is there a workaround that would allow me to put in this unit and still have temp control, steering wheel button use etc.?

      Yes but it involves sourcing non nav ac controls, a decent amount of wiring and know-how. I’d just get one of the nav-compatible units like the one from phoenix auto or the Grom VLine 2, which uses the OEM nav screen

    I like the console garnishes but aren’t you worried that wrapping the rest of the wood won’t be a perfect color match if you went silver? Could go black like you said.

    I just ran across your channel and subscribed. This is the best one I've found for GX mods!! Very informative and I'll be spending a ton of time here. I just saw this video and I'm going to take the plunge and get one. The first question on the Joying order page is the amp selection. I have a 2007 GX non-nav. I know it's not ML. I'm pretty sure it's Pioneer, but haven't been able to confirm through multiple searches/sites. I asked Joying support for help and they asked for a pic of the back of the unit. I only want to take it out when I have something to put back in. My choices are JBL/Pioneer Amp or NO Amp. Can you confirm Pioneer is the correct choice? Thanks a ton for the videos!

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching!!
      From what I’ve heard/experienced, GXs came with ML or Pioneer amps (non nav) so I tend to think the Pioneer amp is the best/most likely choice for non nav GXs. I can tell you for sure that the Pioneer worked for my non nav GX (2004)

      I really feel like I am missing nothing compared to any new vehicle technology-wise (other than the ADAS safety systems, which I don’t even want).
      Many new vehicles don’t even have wireless CarPlay! This unit has been flawless. You just need to make sure you have a non-nav GX. Nav GXs have to consider other options

I know when I talk to local stereo install shops they don’t seem to offer anything this factory fit like this. Maybe they don’t understand the relationship between the GX and the Prado?

The only issue I have is the FM radio reception is poor - did you experience this? Not a huge issue since I'll mostly be playing audio from apps. Reception isn’t the best for me either, but I have never even used the radio since having apple CarPlay.
